  • The object of this work is to study the optimal control strategy of constant speed characteristics for a D.C control motor under influence of disturbance. In the course of the analysis, the linearization and time invariance schemes on motor dynamics are presumed throughout under certain prescribed conditions and the performance measure for optimality is assumed to be quadratic in state and the control effort, with the initial and final time specified. When the motor speed is deviated from a stationary operating point by any external disturbance, the optimal continuous feedback control law is investigated by the application of the calculus of variation and realizability of the required control meachanism is suggested. Finally, the comparative study of the speed reasponses of the motor, with and without the optimal control effort is also presented to confirm the obtained results.

  • The major subject of this paper is to develop the concept fur a Korea high speed train system and recommend to train configuration. High speed train configurations are basically concerned traction power(train configurations with concentrated; CPT or distributed Power system: DPT) and train design(single car as compared with articulated bogies). The result of configuration, a advantages and disadvantaged were necessitated by different train configurations; -distributed underfloor power have an increased length for the seats by 15% as compared with the concentrated power trait - articulated trainsets are characterised by less of number of bogies and reduced values of mass, train resistance, noise and vibration. from the result, the optimized train concept combining high seat capacity per train length with low weight and train resistance is 400m long, single -floor train composed of two symmetrically arranged half trainsets. Therefore, at this work recommended distributed train system However, the final decision of Korea high speed train configuration was concentrated power train and articulated bogie system. The configuration of trainset was 20cars included 2 power cars, 4 motorized cars and 14 trailer cars.

  • Most of the major aspects of the high speed rail tunnels in Korea, including such items as the tunnel geometry, excavation methods, primary support, final lining, drainage and waterproofing, are similar to the practices followed in other countries. The tunnels in Korea provide the largest net internal area $(107\;m^2)$ as compared to the other counties addressed in this paper. The effective adaptation and modification of international practices and designs, combined with the integration of domestic practices, has resulted in the successful construction of these large tunnels. The experience gained from the completed work to date on the high speed line in Korea, combined with international technology input, will help to ensure future tunnels are constructed in an efficient manner with adequate design measures implemented for the long-term operational life of the tunnels. As has occurred in these other countries, further improvements and modifications to the Korea high-speed railway tunnels will occur as experience is gained and new technology develops.

  • The aim of this paper is to find the speech problems of English Laterals by Korean learners and to contribute to the effective pronunciation education with visualizing the pronunciation. In this paper we analyzed 18 words including lateral sounds which were divided into such as: initial, initial consonant cluster, intervocalic, final consonant cluster, and final. To analyse the words we used High speed speech analysis system. We examined acoustic characteristics of English lateral spectrogram by using voice sustained time(ms), FL1, FL2, FL3. Before we started, we had expected that the result would show us that the mother tongue interfere in the final sounds because we have similar sounds in Korea. The results of our experiments showed that initially, voice sustained time showed many more differences between Korean and native pronunciation. Also, it was seen that Korean pronunciation used the syllable structure of the own mother tongue. For instance, in the case of initial consonant cluster CCVC, Koreans often used CC as a syllable and VC as another. This was due to the mother tongue interference. For this reason in the intervocalic and in the final, we saw the differences between Korean and native. Therefore we have to accept the visualized analysis system in the instruction of pronunciation.

  • High-speed multi-pass wet wire drawing has become very common for production of high-carbon steel cord because of the increase in customer demand and production rates in real industrial fields. Although, the wet wire drawing process is performed at a high speed usually above 1000m/min, greater speed is required to improve productivity. However, in the high-carbon steel wire drawing process, the wire temperature rises greatly as the drawing speed increase. The excessive temperature rise makes the wire more brittle and finally leads to wire breakage. In this study, the variations in wire temperature during the multi-pass wet wire drawing process were investigated. A multi-pass wet wire drawing process with 21 passes, which is used to produce steel cord, was redesigned by considering the increase in temperature. Through a wet wire drawing experiment, it was possible to increase the maximum final drawing speed to 2000m/min.

  • When a planing hull straightly runs and turns, its floating position and pitch angle are changed depending on its speed, and large transient motion happens. In this paper, six degrees of freedom(6 DOF) equations of motion, which could simulate the motion of a planing hull, are established. Static and dynamic forces in vertical plane are modeled using pre-calculated displacements and metacentric heights depending on various draft, lift under bottom, and vertical damping coefficients which are used to tune the final motion. Hydrodynamic coefficients in horizontal plane at various equilibrium state are calculated by using Lewandowski's empirical formula and the speed-dependent equilibrium state are calculated beforehand by Savitsky's formula. The speed effects are considered by curve-fitting the coefficients at various speed to the polynomials. Accelerating, decelerating and backing, turning, and zig-zag are simulated and compared with the sea trial results, and it is confirmed that the speed reduction, roll, and pitch during such maneuvers of sea trial and simulation are well consistent.

  • Gravure printing is the most useful printing process than any other engraving printing method. According to the cell which is variable size and depth, ink is transferred substrates. So, the amount of ink from cells has a great effect on the qualities of final printed products. The variables effect on the printability of final products are proportion of the width and length, the rhelogical properties, roll speed etc. However the mechanism of gravure is difficult to study scientifically because of high speed and excessively small size of the cell. To approach the mechanism we experimented the real test by using gravure printability. The condition of variables of IGT is pressure and velocity. By using Polyflow 3. 10. 0 simulation software, we built up the theoretical model under the constant variables. Then, we compared the real test with the simulation results. Therefore, it is studied the mechanism of gravure scientifically and it can be analysed the effect of the variable conditions.

  • As social costs of traffic congestion increase, various studies are underway to predict road speed. In order to improve the accuracy of road speed prediction, unexpected traffic situations need to be considered. In this paper, we propose a road speed prediction scheme considering traffic incidents affecting road speed. We use not only the speed data of the target road but also the speed data of the connected roads to reflect the impact of the connected roads. We also analyze the amount of speed change to predict the traffic congestion caused by traffic incidents. We use the speed data of connected roads and target road with input data to predict road speed in the first place. To reduce the prediction error caused by breaking the regular road flow due to traffic incidents, we predict the final road speed by applying event weights. It is shown through various performance evaluations that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.

  • An optimal driving strategy of a train in a long journey on a nonsteep track has four phases: an initial power phase, a long hold speed phase, a coast phase and a final brake phase. The majority of the journey is speed holding. On a track with steep gradients, it becomes necessary to vary the strategy around steep sections of track because it is not possible to hold a constant steep on steep track. Instead we must interrupt the speed hold phase with a power phase. The aim of this paper is to show that there is a unique power phase that satisfies the necessary conditions for an optimal journey. The problem is developed and solved for various cases, from a simple single steep gradient to a complicated multiple steep gradient section. For each case, we construct a set of new conditions for optimality of the power phase that minimises the energy used during the power phase subject to a weighted time penalty. We then use the new necessary conditions to develop a calculate scheme for finding an optimal power phase for a steep incline. We also present an example to confirm the uniqueness of an optimal power phase.
