Recent works on ad hoc network study have shown that achievable throughput can be made to scale linearly with the number of receive antennas even if the transmitter has only a single antenna. In this paper, we propose a non-parametric linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver for achieving further gain in performance when the channel state information at receiver (CSIR) of interferers is imperfect. The key feature to make our approach effective is to exploit the autocorrelation of the received signal. In fact, by incorporating the desired channel information on top of the observations including interference and noise only, the proposed method achieves large fraction of the optimal MMSE transmission capacity without transmission rate loss. From the SINR analysis as well as transmission capacity simulations in realistic ad hoc network system, we show that the proposed non-parametric linear MMSE receiver brings substantial performance gain over existing multiple receive antenna algorithms.
This paper analyses the performance of either the minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) or the recursive least square (RLS) beamformer structured on the systolic array. Provided that the snapshot vector including the desired user's signal and the interferences with the noise is received at the array antenna. In order to improve the quality of received signal, MVDR or RLS algorithm can be utilized to update the beamformer weights recursively. Furthermore to increase the channel capacity, by the usage of the above schemes, the effect of the spatial filtering can be obtained which constructively combining multipath components corresponding to the desired user whereas the multiple access interferences (MAI) is nulled out on spatial domain. This paper introduces the MVDR and RLS beamformer structured on systolic array conducting the spatial filtering, and its performance under the multipath fading channel in the presence of multiple access interferences will be analyzed. To show the superior spatial filtering performances of the proposed scheme employing the systolic way structured beamformer, the computer simulations are carried out. And the validity of practical deployment of the proposed scheme will be confirmed throughout showing the BER behaviors and the beampatterns.
SAR interferometry (InSAR) using the space-borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) have recently become one of the most effective tools monitoring surface changes caused by landslides, earthquakes, subsidences or volcanic eruption. This study focuses on examining the feasibility of InSAR using the RADARSAT data. Although the RABARSAT SAR with its high resolution and variable incidence angle has several advantages for repeat-pass InSAR, it has two key limitations: first, the orbit is not precisely known; and second, RADARSAT's 24-day repeat pass interval is not very favourable for retaining useful coherence. In this study, two pairs of RADARSAT data in the Nahanni area, NWT, Canada have been tested. We will discuss about the special consideration required on the interferometric processing steps specifically for RADARSAT data including image co-registration, spectral filtering in both azimuth and range, estimation of the interferometric baseline, and correction of the interferogram with respect to the "flat earth" phase contribution. Preliminary results can be summarized as: i) the properly designed azimuth filter based upon the antenna characteristic improves coherence considerably if difference in Doppler centroid of the two images is relatively large; ii) the co-registration process combined by fringe spectrum and amplitude cross-correlation techniques results in optimal matching; iii) the baseline is not always possible to be estimated from the definitive orbit information.
In this paper, we study the method of estimating direction of departure(DOD) and direction of arrival(DOA) using estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariant techniques (ESPRIT) in uniform linear array MIMO radar system. While it is possible to improve the resolution by increasing the numbers of physical antennas and snapshots after matched filtering, such methods generally give rise to increase in complexity. In this paper, we propose to improve the resolution by optimally allocating the number of transmit and receive antennas. In particular, we show that the performance is optimized when the number of the receive antennas is approximately twice that of transmit antennas.

In this paper, ku-band RF transceiver system is designed for the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) line-of-sight(LOS) datalink. The RF transceiver system is consisted of the transmitting and receiving unit, RF front-end unit, and high power amplification unit. The transmitting and receiving unit has the functions of frequency up/down converting and channel changing. The RF front-end unit has the functions of transmitting and receiving signal duplexing, antenna selection, small signal amplification, and frequency filtering excluding the receiving signal. The high power amplification unit has the functions of ku-band power amplification and transmitting power variation(High/Middle/Low/Mute). The frequency up/down converting of transmitting and receiving unit is designed by using the superheterodyne method. The RF transceiver system is designed to obtain the broadband and high linearity properties for the reliable transmission and reception of high data-rate and high speed data. Also, the channel changing function is designed to use selectively the frequency as the operation environment of UAV.

With the increasing demands on high data rate, there has been growing interests in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology based on spatial multiplexing (SM) since it can transmit independent information in each spatial stream. Recent standards such as 3GPP LTE-advanced and IEEE 802.11ac support up to eight spatial streams, and massive MIMO and mm-wave systems that are expected to be included in beyond 4G systems are considering employment of tens to hundreds of antennas. Since the complexity of the optimum maximum likelihood based detection method increases exponentially with the number of antennas, low-complexity SM MIMO detection becomes more critical as the number of antenna increases. In this paper, we first review the results on the detection schemes for SM MIMO systems. In addition, massive MIMO reception schemes based on simple linear filtering which does not require exponential increment of complexity will be explained, followed by brief description on receiver design for future high dimensional SM MIMO systems.

For multiple antenna systems, we consider the hybrid iterative detection of the maximum a posteriori probability(MAP) detection and the linear detection such as the minimum-mean-square-error(MMSE) filtering with soft cancelation. We devise methods to obtain both the lower complexity of the linear detection and the superior performance of the MAP detection. Using the a prior probability of the coded bit which is extrinsic of the outer decoder, we compute the threshold of grouping and determine the detection scheme symbol by symbol. Through the simulation results, it is shown that the proposed receiver obtains the superior performance to the MMSE detector and the lower complexity than the MAP detector.
The SAR payload of the KOMPSAT-5 is equipped with an X-band (9.66GHz) microwave-based sensor. Especially, since it has a fixed antenna that can be electronically steered with respect to the azimuth and elevation planes, various applications are expected. This study evaluates the production performance and the accuracy of the DEM by producing DEM using the HR and UH mode images of KOMPSAT-5. To evaluate the production performance of the DEM, the sensitivity of DEM was assessed through a baseline analysis and $2{\pi}$ ambiguity; it was found to have good production performance. In addition, to evaluate the accuracy of the produced DEM, 30 check points were compared with SRTM data. As a result, STDEV ${\pm}15-20m$ accuracy was obtained. If the accuracy of the DEM is improved by adjusting the parameters of the filtering method or phase unwrapping method in the future, it will be possible to widely use the KOMPSAT-5 image for environmental and disaster monitoring.

In this paper, We propose a portable electrostatic meter which can measure high voltage static electricity caused by friction to prevent fire or explosion accidents in grinding, crushing, power injection, transport, filling, dust removal, painting, and foreign matter removal processes. The proposed device not only shows static electricity strength in 4 steps with respect to distance and voltage but also gives warning with a buzzer, on process facilities that are likely to generate high voltage static electricity due to friction. The device is implemented by filtering the signal detected by the wireless antenna, amplifying the signal by 6 times, and passing the signal through the integrator circuit. Tests are carried out with an electrostatic discharge simulator. And the results show that 4 LEDs are turned on at the distance of 10cm, 3 LEDs at 12cm, 2 LEDs at 13cm, and 1 LED at 15cm, when a fixed voltage of 500V is given. And also, the tests show that the static electricity can be detected at 5cm on 100V, 10cm on 200V, 15cm on 500V, 20cm on 1000V, and 25cm on 1500V. We expect to reduce accidents caused by static electricity by allowing safety managers on fields where fire or explosion accidents can happen to monitor static electricity.

Electro-optical sigma-delta modulators are the core module of digital receiver to digitize wideband radio-frequency signals directly at an antenna. Electro-optical sigma-delta modulators use a pulsed laser to oversample an input radio-frequency signals at two Mach-Zehnder Interferometer(MZI) and shape the quantization noise using a fiber-lattice accumulator. Decimation filtering is applied to the quantizer output to construct the input signal with high resolution. The jitter affects greatly on reconstructing the original input signal of modulator. This paper analyzes the performance of first order single bit electro-optical sigma-delta modulator in the time domain and the frequency domain. The performance of modulator is analyzed by using asynchronous spectral averaging of the reconstructed signal's spectrum in the frequency domain. The reference value of time jitter is presented by analyzing the performance of jitter effects. This kind of jitter value can be used as a reference value on the design of modulators.
