  • Though digital imaging devices such as smart phones, digital cameras and office scanners have improved significantly over the past years, they are seldom used for industrial application. This may be attributable to high level of quality and performance requirement for industrial application, but there lacks a test or an objective evaluation whether the upgraded performance of entry-level device is sufficiently enough to replace existing industrial equipments or not. If there exists an industrial application area where the applicability of entry-level equipment is proved by some objective tests, then companies will be able to reduce investment on expensive industrial equipment. In this study, applicability of entry-level digital devices for color difference discrimination of PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) color sheet is tested. By testing smart phone, digital camera, and office scanner for color difference discrimination, authors have found that office scanner shows consistent result with less measurement error. Additional experiment on comparing office scanner with industrial spectrophotometer has confirmed that there exists high correlation between the two devices' results. Based on this result, office scanner may be applicable to discriminate the color difference of PVC sheet instead of expensive industrial spectrophotometer if proper management criteria are established.

  • Lanthanide(III)-cored complex as a wavelength conversion material has been successfully designed and synthesized for highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells, for the first time, since light with a short wavelength has not been effectively used for generating electric power owing to the limited absorption of these DSSCs in the UV region. A black dye (BD) was chosen and used as a sensitizer, because BD has a relatively weak light absorption at shorter wavelengths. The overall conversion efficiency of the BD/WCM device was remarkably increased, even with the relatively small amount of WCM added to the device. The enhancement in $V_{oc}$ by WCM, like DCA, could be correlated with the suppression of electron recombination between the injected electrons and $I_3{^-}$ ions. Furthermore, the short-circuit current density was significantly increased by WCM with a strong UV light-harvesting effect. The energy transfer from the Eu(III)-cored complex to the $TiO_2$ film occurred via the dye, so the number of electrons injected into the $TiO_2$ surface increased, i.e., the short-circuit current density was increased. As a result, BD/WCM-sensitized solar cells exhibit superior device performance with the enhanced conversion efficiency by a factor of 1.22 under AM 1.5 sunlight: The photovoltaic performance of the BD/WCM-based DSSC exhibited remarkably high values, $J_{sc}$ of 17.72 mA/$cm^2$, $V_{oc}$ of 720 mV, and a conversion efficiency of 9.28% at 100 mW $cm^{-2}$, compared to a standard DSSC with $J_{sc}$ of 15.53 mA/$cm^2$, $V_{oc}$ of 689 mV, and a conversion efficiency of 7.58% at 100 mW $cm^{-2}$. Therefore, the Eu(III)-cored complex is a promising candidate as a new wavelength conversion coadsorbent for highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells to improve UV light harvesting through energy transfer processes. The abstract should be a single paragraph which summaries the content of the article.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explain the making procedure and the usage of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for interpretation of radiographic images. The conventional radiograms obtained after the creation of the lesions in the acrylic plates and were enhanced in color. The observer were informed of which tooth to examine, the 'a priori' probability of a lesion present and the approximate diameter of the lesions. The two groups of films were interpreted separately by the same observer using the same rating scale. The following rating scale was used: A; definitely no lesion, B; probably no lesion, C; not sure, D; probably a lesion, and E; definitely a lesion. In analysis, for each observer the diagnostic results in terms of true positive (TP) and false positive (FP) decisions were plotted on a graph. The lowest point on the graph represents the TP and FP when only decisions designated as E according to the rating scale are included. The next point shows the TP and FP values when diagnoses designated as D are added and so forth. By connecting such plot points, a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves is obtained. The area under the curve represents the diagnostic accuracy resulting from a diagnostic performance at pure chance level and a value of 1.0 at perfect performance. This method has been known as an useful method to detect the minute difference for each radiographic technic, each observer and for the different lesion depths.

  • In this paper, for a new detection system development with the better accurate dose evaluation and beam distribution imaging using the small field irradiation of linear accelerator, the compound semiconductor based detection sensors were fabricated and the performance evaluation was investigated. The special particle-in-binder sedimentation was used for a large area film sensor fabrication. The detection properties for high energy x-rays were investigated from a dark current, an output current, a rising time, a falling time, and response delay measurement. The experimental results, the $TiO_2$ mixed $HgI_2$ sensor showed the best electrical characteristics than $PbI_2$, PbO, pure $HgI_2$. Linearity, repeatability, and accuracy tests from LINAC were tested, the $TiO_2$ mixed $HgI_2$ sensor showed the better performance than the commercially available dosimetry devices.

  • Organic semiconductor-based soft electronics has potential advantages for next-generation electronics and displays, which request mobile convenience, flexibility, light-weight, large area, etc. Organic field-effect transistors (OFET) are core elements for soft electronic applications, such as e-paper, e-book, smart card, RFID tag, photovoltaics, portable computer, sensor, memory, etc. An optimal multi-layered structure of organic semiconductor, insulator, and electrodes is required to achieve high-performance OFET. Since most organic semiconductors are self-assembled structures with weak van der Waals forces during film formation, their crystalline structures and orientation are significantly affected by environmental conditions, specifically, substrate properties of surface energy and roughness, changing the corresponding OFET. Organo-compatible insulators and surface treatments can induce the crystal structure and orientation of solution- or vacuum-processable organic semiconductors preferential to the charge-carrier transport in OFET.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of video modeling observational learning intervention on the learning and performance of a bowling skill in adolescents with intellectual disabilities. Thirty special middle school students whose ages ranged from 14 to 16 years were recruited from Daegu, Korea. Intellectual disabilities of the participants were assessed by Korean version of the Wechsler intelligence scale for adolescent and a social maturity scale. During the experiment, participants repeatedly watched the one-minute action observation film for three minutes before beginning each frame and played 60 frames. Statistical comparisons were performed using a 2 (groups) ${\times}$ 6 (trials) ANOVA, with repeated measures on the last factor of the acquisition stage (p<0.05). Factors of the retention stage scores were analyzed by one-way ANOVA. The sources of any significant main effects were tested using a Tukey's HSD (honest significant difference) approach. SPSS 21.0 was used for statistical analyses. The performance scores of the action observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group. The findings showed that observational learning in the form video modeling has the potential to enhance acquisition and learning of a bowling sport skill in intellectual disability individuals; however, these findings are limited to adolescents with moderate intellectual disabilities.

  • Ag paste was employed for source and drain electrode of OTFTs and for the data metal lines of OTFT-OLED array on PC(polycarbonate) substrate. We tested two kinds of Ag-pastes such as pastes for 325 mesh and 500 mesh screen mask to examine the pattern ability and electrical performance for OTFTs. The minimum feature size was 60 ${\mu}m$ for 325 mesh screen mask and 40 ${\mu}m$ for 500 mesh screen mask. The conductivity was 60 $m{\Omega}/\square$ for 325 mesh and 133.1 $m{\Omega}/\square$ for 500 mesh. For the OTFT performance the mobility was 0.35 $cm^2/V{\cdot}sec$ and 0.12 $cm^2/V{\cdot}sec$, threshold voltage was -4.7 V and 0.9 V, respectively, and on/off current ratio was ${\sim}10^5$, for both screen masks. We applied the 500 mash Ag paste to OTFT-OLED array because of its good patterning property. The pixel was composed of two OTFTs and one capacitor and one OLED in the area of $2mm{\times}2mm$. The panel successfully worked in active mode operation even though there were a few bad pixels.

  • In this paper, a compact RF Front-end module for Wireless Fidelity(Wi-Fi) and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access(WiMAX) applications is realized by low temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) technology. The RF Front-end module is composed of three LTCC band-pass filters, a Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator(FBAR) filter, fully embedded matching circuits, an SPDT switch for mode selection, an SPDT switch for Tx/Rx selection, and an SP4T switch for band selection. The parasitic elements of 0.2~0.3 pF are generated by the structure of stacking in the top pad pattern for DC block capacitor of SPDT switch for mode selection. These kinds of parasitic elements break the matching characteristic, and thus, the overall electrical performance of the module is degraded. In order to compensate it, we insert a parallel lumped-element inductor on capacitor pad pattern for DC block, so that we obtain the optimized performance of the RF Front-end module. The fabricated RF front-end module has 12 layers including three inner grounds and it occupies less than $6.0mm{\times}6.0mm{\times}0.728mm$.

  • We have investigated the effect of strong p-type organic semiconductor $F_4$-TCNQ-doped CuPc hole transport layer on the performance of p-i-n type bulk heterojunction photovoltaic device with ITO/PEDOT:PSS/CuPc: $F_4$-TCNQ(5 wt%)/CuPc:C60(blending ratio l:l)/C60/BCP/LiF/Al, architecture fabricated via vacuum deposition process, and have evaluated the J-V characteristics, short-circuit current ($J_{sc}$), open-circuit voltage($V_{oc}$), fill factor(FF), and power conversion efficiency(${\eta}_e$) of the device. By doping $F_4$-TCNQ into CuPc hole transport layer, increased absorption intensity in absorption spectra, uniform dispersion of organic molecules in the layer, surface uniformity of the layer, and enhanced injection currents improved the current photovoltaic device with power conversion efficiency(${\eta}_e$) of 0.16%, which is still low value compared to silicone solar cell indicating that many efforts should be made to improve organic photovoltaic devices.
