Experimental and numerical studies were carried out in order to investigate the processability and the transcriptability of the injection molding of micro structures. For this purpose, we designed a mold insert having micro rib patterns on a relatively thick base part. Mold insert has a base of 2mm thickness, and has nine micro ribs on that base plate. Width and height of the rib are $300{\mu}m\;and\;1200{\mu}m$, respectively. We found a phenomenon similar to 'race tracking', due to 'hesitation' in the micro ribs. As the melt flows, it starts to cool down and melt front located in the ribs near the gate cannot penetrate further because the flow resistance is large in that almost frozen portion. When the base is totally filled, the melt front away from the gate is not frozen yet. Therefore, it flows back to the gate direction through the ribs. Consequently, transcriptability of the rib far from the gate is better. We also verified this phenomenon via numerical simulation. We further investigated the effects of processing conditions, such as flow rate, packing time, packing pressure, wall temperature and melt temperature, on the transcriptability. The most dominant factor that affects the flow pattern and the transcriptability of the micro rib is flow rate. High flow rate and high melt temperature enhance the transcriptability of micro rib structure. High packing time and high packing pressure result in insignificant dimensional variations of the rib. Numerical simulation also confirms that low flow rate causes a short shot of micro ribs and high wall temperature helps the filling of the micro ribs.
The axial-injection end-burning hybrid rocket proposed twenty years ago by the authors recently recaptured the attention of researchers for its virtues such as no ${\zeta}$ (oxidizer to fuel mass ratio) shift during firing and good throttling characteristics. This paper is the first report verifying these virtues using a laboratory scale motor. There are several requirements for realizing this type of hybrid rocket: 1) high fuel filling rate for obtaining an optimal ${\zeta}$; 2) small port intervals for increasing port merging rate; 3) ports arrayed across the entire fuel section. Because these requirements could not be satisfied by common manufacturing methods, no previous researchers have conducted experiments with this kind of hybrid rocket. Recent advances in high accuracy 3D printing now allow for fuel to be produced that meets these three requirements. The fuel grains used in this study were produced by a high precision light polymerized 3D printer. Each grain consisted of an array of 0.3 mm diameter ports for a fuel filling rate of 98% .The authors conducted several firing tests with various oxidizer mass flow rates and chamber pressures, and analysed the results, including ${\zeta}$ history, using a new reconstruction technique. The results show that ${\zeta}$ remains almost constant throughout tests of varying oxidizer mass flow rates, and that regression rate in the axial direction is a nearly linear function of chamber pressure with a pressure exponent of 0.996.
The purpose of this study was to compare mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA; Dentsply, Tulsa Dental, Tulsa, OK, USA), which is widely used as root-end filling material, with DiaRoot BioAggregate (DB; Innovative BioCaramix Inc, Vancouver, BC, Canada), newly developed product, by using MG63 osteoblast-like cells. MTA, DB, and Intermediate Restorative Material (IRM; Dentsply Caulk, Milford, DE, USA) were used for root-end filling material while tissue culture plastic was used for control group. Each material was mixed and, the mixtures were left to set for 24 hours. MG63 cells were seeded to each group and then they were cultured for attachment for 4 hours. Following the attachment of cells to the root-end filling material, early cellular response was observed. After another 12 hours'culture, the level of attachment between cells and material was observed and in order to identify the effect of each material to bone formation, transforming growth factor beta1 ($TGF{\beta}1$) and osteocalin (OC) were estimated by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the amount of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was also measured. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. As a result, only at OC and the number of cells which were attached to materials, there was no statistical difference between MTA and DB. At other items, there was statistically significant difference in all groups. Although DB has not shown exactly the same cellular response like that of MTA, the number of attached cells shows that biocompatibility of the material and OC indicates bone formation rate. Therefore, if DB is used for root end filling material, it is expected to lead to similar results to MTA.

Thermal energy storage(TES) cooling system using cheaper electricity of off-peak time has been applied to relieve a significant portion of the peak demand of electricity during the daytime in summer. Slurry ice type thermal energy storage cooling system is one kind of more efficient ice-thermal energy storage cooling system than Ice-on-Coil type or Encapsulated type TES cooling system, even though, which are more popular TES system. This experimental study was carried out to observe flow pattern and formation of slurry ice in reversing flow layer to improve efficiency of heat transfer between fluid and freezing tube and to disturb ice adhesion on tube surface. The reversing flow layer was made by using reversing materials in heat exchanger section(test section) to disturb ice adhesion. At this experiment, styrofoam balls and poly propylene balls were used as reversing materials, and a 20wt% solution of ethylene glycol was used as reversing flow layer. The experimental apparatus was constructed of the test section for making/storing slurry ice, the brine tank, pumps for circulating of a 20wt% solution of ethylene glycol and brine, a flow-meter, a data logger for measuring the temperature. The experiments were carried out under various conditions, with volumetric flow rate, ball filling rate and air filling rate.

This paper proposes a new approximate approach to calculate the order fill rate and the probability of filling an entire customer order immediately from the shelf in a business environment under purchase dependence characterized by customer purchase patterns observed in such areas as marketing, manufacturing systems, and distribution systems. The new approximate approach divides customer orders into item orders and calculates fill rates of all order types to approximate the order fill rate. We develop a greed iterative search algorithm (GISA) based on the Gauss-Seidel method to avoid dimensionality and prevent the solution divergence for larger instances. Through the computational analysis that compares the GISA with the simulation, we demonstrate that the GISA is a dependable algorithm for deriving the stationary joint distribution of on-hand inventories in the type-K pure system. We also present some managerial insights.
A field experiment was conducted to find out the effects of field productivity, variety and nitrogen rate on the yield, quality, chemical constituents and physical properties of burley cured leaf in three field with different productivity(Degree of field productivity: A ; high, B ; medium, C : low) during successive two years(1988~89). The yield and quality were remarkably lowered when nitrogen fertilizer being applied much in low productive field. As compared with Burley 21, KB101 showed high yield, particularly the yield of KB101 in low productive field was relatively high. The effect of nitrogen rate on the yield was somewhat different according to field productivity and production year. When the nitrogen fertilizer being applied above 22.5kg/10a, the added nitrogen had no effect on the yield. Total nitrogen content of cured leaf grown in low productive field was high while total alkaloid was low, therefore total alkaloid/total nitrogen ratio was remarkably low. The lightness, red and yellow color of cured leaf grown in low productive field was remarkably low. As compared with Burley 21, the contents of total alkaloid and total nitrogen and shatter resistance index of cured leaf was somewhat low, while the filling power, lightness, red and yellow color were slightly high. Total nitrogen content of cured leaf was increased remarkably by nitrogen addition, but total alkaloid was not increased though the nitrogen fertilizer being applied above 22.5kg/10a. The filling power and shatter resistance index of cured leaf grown in high nitrogen plot, and the lightness and yellow color were low while the red color was relatively high. It comes into question that the visual quality being increased as well as increment of yield and nitrogenous compounds by nitrogen addition in high productive field. In low productive field, it is considerable that nitrogen addition for high yield should be prohibited because it causes the decrement of yield and quality, on the contrary.
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effect of implantation of the dense hydroxyapatite (HA) granules$(Apaceram^{(R)})$ in the fresh extraction sockets on the residual ridge resorption in normal and induced diabetic rabbits. Sixty-four white rabbits, weighing 3.0kg, were utilized in this study and they were divided into four group : group 1-sixteen normal rabbits without filling HA granules, group 2-sixteen normal rabbits with filling HA granules, group 3-sixteen diabetic rabbits without filling HA granules, group 4-sixteen diabetic rabbits with filling HA granules. HA granules were filled immediately after extraction in the extraction sockets of the mandibular left 1st, 2nd, and 3rd molar in group 2 and 4, and no HA granules were filled in group 1 and 3. The calculation of residual ridge resoption was done at 4th week, 8th week, 12th week, and 16th week after surgery, and histologic examination was performed to study healing process at 2nd week, 4th week, 8th week, and 16th week after surgery. The results were as follows : 1. The amount of residual ridge resorption was largest in group 3, and smallest in group 2 in every interval. There was no statistically significant difference between group 1 and 4. 2. In all groups, the amount of residual ridge resorption was high until 4th week after surgery, but the rate of residual ridge resolution slowly decreased after 4th week 3. There was more active healing process in group 1 and 2 than in group 2 and 4. 4. According to filling of HA granules, there was no difference in the amount of new bone formation, but direct contact could be observed between newly formed bone and HA granules in group 2 and 4. 5. Group 1 and 3 showed marked bone resorption and adipose marrow from 8th-16th week after surgery, but group 2 and 4 did not show maeked bone resolution, and showed fibrous tissue and a little adipose tissue among trabeculae from 8th week.

This research study was conducted to analyze the characteristics of different rice cultivars in abnormal temperature conditions (low temperature) for ripening period abnormalities, and to investigate the physiological causes behind the abnormalities. Four Korean high quality japonica-type rice cultivars, Jinbu (JB), Junamjosaeng (JJ), Geumyoung (GY), Hwawang (HW) were used in the experiment. The following day after flowering, they were then moved into two phytotrons under natural daylight with 65% RH but controlled at different temperatures - one at $19/29^{\circ}C$ (night/day) and the other at $13/23^{\circ}C$ as the low - temperature study on ripening. For the cultivars at $13/23^{\circ}C$ (low temperature study), JB and JJ had a ripening rate of 93% which is similar to the ripening rates of cultivars at $19/29^{\circ}C$ at 45 days after heading (DAH). In contrast, GY and HW recorded lower ripening rates of 86% and 57% respectively. However, when the cultivars at $13/23^{\circ}C$ were harvested at 61 DAH (when the accumulated temperature reached $1100^{\circ}C$), the difference in ripening rates compared to the 4 cultivars of $19/29^{\circ}C$ harvested at 45 DAH was not obvious (JB 94%, JJ 97%, GY 97%, HW 88%). Starch content showed little difference among the 4 cultivars at different temperature conditions while amylose content was higher for cultivars at $13/23^{\circ}C$ compared to those at $19/29^{\circ}C$. In addition, the enzyme activities of starch biosynthesis were about 5~10 days slower in cultivars at $13/23^{\circ}C$ compared to cultivars at $19/29^{\circ}C$. The grain-filling rate showed highly significant correlations with the enzyme activities of Sucrose synthase ($R^2=0.70^{***}$), ADP glucose pyrophosphorylase ($R^2=0.63^{***}$), UDP glucose pyrophosphorylase ($R^2=0.36^{***}$), Starch synthase ($R^2=0.51^{***}$), and Starch branching enzyme ($R^2=0.59^{***}$). Among the enzymes, Sucrose synthase activity had the highest correlation coefficient with grain-filling rate. In conclusion, the activity of enzymes such as Sucrose synthase, UDP glucose pyrophosphorylase, ADP glucose pyrophosphorylase, Starch synthase, Starch branching enzyme in starch biosynthesis is proven to be highly related to the grain filling process. Notably, the decrease in the activity of Sucrose synthase and Starch branching enzyme and the late increase in ADP glucose pyrophosphorylase activity at low temperature in the ripening stage are considered to be disadvantageous as they delay ripening and increased amylose content.

For high-quality colored rice production, the cultivation environment is a critical factor. The major environmental factor is temperature, which includes the accumulated and average temperature during vegetative and reproductive stages. Generally, during the cultivation period, the temperature can be controlled by shifting the transplanting date. This study was carried out to determine the optimum transplanting date for high-quality red-colored rice production. Four red-colored rice varieties (Jeokjinju, Jeokjinjuchal, Hongjinju, and Gunganghongmi) were used as test materials. The transplanting dates were May 20 and June 5, 20, and 30 in 2015~2016. The most variable factor controlled by the transplanting date was the grain filling rate. The varieties transplanted on June 30 showed low yields owing to the decrease in the grain filling rate. In contrast, the polyphenol content increased with increasing delay in the transplanting date. Collectively, these two results indicate that the optimum transplanting date was June 20. The average temperature for 30 days after the heading date (30DAH) highly affected the polyphenol content. A lower temperature during the 30DAH induced higher polyphenol contents but also caused low yield. The optimum 30DAH temperature for obtaining a higher yield and polyphenol content was $22{\sim}23^{\circ}C$. Using the average 30DAH and accumulated temperatures, the optimum transplanting date was calculated as June 18 to 24 in Miryang region. The optimum transplanting date of Kyeungsangnamdo region was approximately mid-June to early July, and that of Kyeungsangbukdo region was approximately early to mid-June.
