In this paper, the injection molding process of automotive seat-back cover is analyzed in terms of simulation and of experiment. FE analysis was used to obtain molding conditions such as injection pressure, filling pattern, packing, shrinkage. Vacuum system for low pressure injection molding is developed in the experiment. Low pressure injection molded parts have been compared with conventional molded parts in terms of molding quality and mechanical properties. Based on the results, good product and the productivity improvement can be obtained in low pressure injection molding for automotive seat-back cover.
As a rotating machine element, plastic gears are more and more widely used in such as industrial machine element, since plastic gear is lighter, higher wear-resistance, and higher vibration absorbing ability than metal gears. When operating plastic parts, tooth breakage and fatigue life shortened due to increasing number of applying load and tooth flank temperature rising, such that accuracy of plastic gears is divided from allowable range to cause vibration and noise. On this study, a internal plastic gears are developed which improved the filling balance molding process by a new injection mold structure. The new mold structure called HR3P(hot runner type 3plate mold). As the result from this studies, we obtained a very accurate roundness internal gears by using design of experiment.
Silk, polyester, cotton, and wool fabrics were embroidered with varying stitch length of 3mm, 5mm, and 10mm to examine the difference in fabric shrinkage in terms of sewing direction, fabric thickness, cover factor, stitch length, and fiber type. Warp, filling, and bias direction of sewing resulted in no difference in fabric shrinkage. Within the samples with same stitch length, there was less fabric shrinkage in fabrics with higher fabric thickness or higher cover factor. There was larger shrinkage when sewn with longer stitch length. Comparing fabrics with different fiber types but similar fabric thickness, silk and polyester fabrics showed the smallest fabric shrinkage and wool fabrics showed the largest shrinkage. It is shown that similar fabric shrinkage between silk and polyester is due to the similarity in cover factor.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of stipulated cleaning process, and the prohibition of cross-contamination and microbiological contamination, which inadequate cleaning in multi-production could occur, through cleaning validation of multi-purpose facility used to produce five biopharmaceutical products as sterile injection. After production of five biopharmaceutical products such as hGH, rhGCSF, rhEPO, rhFSH and rhIFN using vial filling machine, the cleaning validation such as residual analysis of active ingredients or human serum albumin, measurement of total organic carbon (TOC), residual analysis of detergent and microbiological contamination were carried out. In the case of rhGH and rhGCSF clean validations, drug residues were not detected. Furthermore, in the case of rhEPO, rhFSH and rhIFN clean validations, human serum albumin residues were not detected. At TOC (total organic carbon) analysis, all clean validations gave the TOC of about average 137.93%, not more than 150% of acceptance criteria. At sodium analysis for the checking of residues of cleaning agent, sodium residues were not detected. In sterility test, they showed no microbiological contamination of bacteria and fungi. Thus, this cleaning validation was determined as successful in protection of cross-contamination and induction of safety in multi-purpose facility.
Macroperforations improve the sound absorption performance of porous materials in acoustic cavities and in waveguides. In an acoustic cavity, enhanced noise reduction is achieved using porous materials having macroperforations. Double porosity materials are obtained by filling these macroperforations with different poroelastic materials having distinct physical properties. The locations of macroperforations in porous layers can be chosen based on cavity mode shapes. In this paper, the effect of variation of macroporosity and double porosity in porous materials on noise reduction in an acoustic cavity is presented. This analysis is done keeping each perforation size constant. Macroporosity of a porous material is the fraction of area covered by macro holes over the entire porous layer. The number of macroperforations decides macroporosity value. The system under investigation is an acoustic cavity having a layer of poroelastic material rigidly attached on one side and excited by an internal point source. The overall sound pressure level (SPL) inside the cavity coupled with porous layer is calculated using mixed displacement-pressure finite element formulation based on Biot-Allard theory. A 32 node, cubic polynomial brick element is used for discretization of both the cavity and the porous layer. The overall SPL in the cavity lined with porous layer is calculated for various macroporosities ranging from 0.05 to 0.4. The results show that variation in macroporosity of the porous layer affects the overall SPL inside the cavity. This variation in macroporosity is based on the cavity mode shapes. The optimum range of macroporosities in poroelastic layer is determined from this analysis. Next, SPL is calculated considering periodic and nodal line based optimum macroporosity. The corresponding results show that locations of macroperforations based on mode shapes of the acoustic cavity yield better noise reduction compared to those based on nodal lines or periodic macroperforations in poroelastic material layer. Finally, the effectiveness of double porosity materials in terms of overall sound pressure level, compared to equivolume double layer poroelastic materials is investigated; for this the double porosity material is obtained by filling the macroperforations based on mode shapes of the acoustic cavity.
A multifilamentary Bi-2223 HTS tape for superconducting power applications was studied through the fabrication of 250-meter long tapes by the PIT(powder in tube) process. To fabricate continuous long wire, a drawing machine, a two-drum bull block and a rolled tape winding machine were developed. Especially, 250-meter long tapes were heat treated in the shape of pancake coil to reduce the heat affect zone and to achieve the high critical current. Engineering critical current density was improved through both the enhancements of critical current density by control of thermal process and the increase of filling factor by using thin Ag alloy sheath tubes less than 1.5 mm in thickness. We have made successfully 250-meter long 37 filamentary tapes with high filling factor up to 31 % employing the modified drawing and rolling technique. The critical current of 250-meter long tapes with pancake coil type was measured by transport method at self-field up to 250 gauss of center field. The measured values, based on the transport critical current at self-field, $I_{c}$ -B characteristics and magnetic field analysis, are 34 A of I$_{c}$ and 4.0 $kA/\textrm{cm}^2$ of $J_{e}$ at 250 m, 77 K, and 0 T. We also have achieved the 56 A of I$_{c}$ and 7.0 $0 kA/\textrm{cm}^2$ of$ J_{e}$ in short tapes at 77K, self-field, and 1$mutextrm{V}$/cm.
A herbicide applicator attached to a rice transplanter was developed to perform herbicide application and transplanting simultaneously. The prototype machine was composed of herbicide tank, discharge device, spinner, scattering plate and power drive. The application rate of the machine could be adjusted from 10 to 30 kg/㏊ and the application swath was 1.8m. According to the field test, application uniformity showed the range of 13.6~43.9% in terms of CV(coefficient of variation) depending on the spinner speed, application height and shape of diffuser. The best uniformity could be achieved with the spinner speed of 30.8m/s and application height of 20cm. Field efficiency of the prototype was 4.7hr/㏊. Transplanting machine has field efficiency of 4.6hr/㏊ in Korea. By attaching the herbicide applicator, field efficiency became lowed only by 0.1hr/㏊, which was counted for filling time of herbicide. Simultaneous operation of transplanting and herbicide application had a of labor saying. The weed control efficacy was measured to be 96% in field when AC140 + Stomp and Londax + YRC was applied at the 65th day after transplanting. Nonanmae was treated by manual application to be compared to.
Die casting process of Mg alloys for high temperature applications was studied to produce an engine oil pan. The aim of this paper is to evaluate die casting processes of the Aluminium oil pan and in parallel to apply new Mg alloy for die casting the oil pan. Temperature distributions of the die and flow pattern of the alloys in cavity were simulated to diecast a new Mg alloy by the flow simulation software. Dies have to be modified according to material characteristics because melting temperature and heat capacity are different. We changed the shape and position of runner, gate, vent hole and overflow by the simulation results. After several trial and error, oil pans of AE44 and MRI153M Mg alloys are produced successfully without defect. Sleeve filling ratio, cavity filling time and shot speed of die casting machine are important parameter to minimize the defect for die casting Magnesium alloy.
