  • The current risk assessment system do not reflect workers' various opinion. However, the worker actually are in the center of work field and are exposed to accidents. In this regard, this study suggests enhanced risk assessment by 'safety circle discussion' on workers' hand. The self-administered surveys on supervisors and workers were done for the effect analysis of the safety circle discussion. According to the question investigation, even though the current risk assessment causes difficulties in preventing accidents by unsafe behaviors, the worker-oriented safety circle discussion establishing measures for risk factors of each work type will be able to prevent accidents more effectively. Also, it can positively contribute to safety health awareness, industrial accident prevention, accurate recognition on risk factors, improving safety facilities/work conditions, workers' compliance to safety health rules. Lastly, most respondents agreed that it is necessary to form organic relationship through circle discussion and deriving safety inspections that workers participate.

  • Biomarkers indicating past exposure to radiation have not yet been entirely satisfactory. In this study, we validated several genes reported as radiation response genes, as biomarkers to detect past exposure to radiation in occupationally exposed workers, especially workers in the medical field. A total of 54 radiation workers in hospital were investigated for radiation exposure dose. Their average radiation dose of recent one year was 1.09 mSv ($\pm$1.63) with a 10.63 mSv ($\pm$12.91) cumulative dose. The results of the multiple regression analysis for the various variables indicate that the Hsc70 (P=0.0292) and ORAL (P=0.0045) may be candidate biomarkers for the recent 1 year radiation exposure in radiation workers, whereas AEN (P=0.0334) and PGAMI (P=0.0003) might be for cumulative exposure.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the evaluations and attitudes of workers in low temperature storages of discount stores toward their uniforms by carrying out a field study and a survey. The effects of evaluation attributes on their attitudes were also investigated. In this study, the reference of the evaluation of uniforms was based on the concepts of serviceability, which implies the fitness for purpose of products and consists of durability, care, comfort and aesthetic appearance. Of 400 questionnaires, 253 of them were used for data analysis. The data were analyzed by descriptives, t-test, factor analysis, reliability test and regression analysis with SPSS 12.0. As a result, it showed that workers have set low values on easy care, physiological comfort, aesthetic appearance and durability among the evaluation attributes. In attitudes toward the uniforms, emotional attitude was negative whereas behavioral attitude positive. It appeared that the evaluation attributes had influence on the attitude toward the uniforms and esthetic appearance among the attributes had the biggest effects on the workers' attitude. In conclusion, it was found that the discount store uniforms should be improved in the aspects of easy care and physiological comfort, and focused on the esthetic appearance for workers' positive attitudes to their uniforms.

  • Construction workers experience a high rate of fatal incidents from mobile equipment in the industry. One of the major causes is the decline in the acoustic condition of workers due to the constant exposure to construction noise. Previous studies have proposed various ways in which audio sensing and machine learning techniques can be used to track equipment's movement on the construction site but not on the audibility of safety signals. This study develops a novel framework to help automate safety surveillance in the construction site. This is done by detecting the audio sound at a different signal-to-noise ratio of -10db, -5db, 0db, 5db, and 10db to notify the worker of imminent dangers of mobile equipment. The scope of this study is focused on developing a signal processing model to help improve the audible sense of mobile equipment for workers. This study includes three-phase: (a) collect audio data of construction equipment, (b) develop a novel audio-based machine learning model for automated detection of collision hazards to be integrated into intelligent hearing protection devices, and (c) conduct field experiments to investigate the system' efficiency and latency. The outcomes showed that the proposed model detects equipment correctly and can timely notify the workers of hazardous situations.

  • Objectives: The study was performed to investigate characteristics of hazardous factors regarding chemical(liquid lime) tank dredging workers by case survey. Methods: Field data such as working condition, MSDS and respirators applied to chemical tank dredging work were analyzed and the work environmental factors of noise and indoor air quality were measured to compare existing data with actual work situations. Results: No health hazards to workers due to working conditions were confirmed during dredging work inside the chemical storage tank. All air quality measurement data during dredging work satisfied the management standards, and there were no by-products. During dredging work, there was a significant change in noise depending on the type of work, but considering the noise reduction rate(NRR) of the earplugs worn by workers, there was no actual health hazard due to noise exposure. Conclusions: A fit test for respirator and the expiration date of the safety helmet should be observed to ensure an appropriate level of safety and health for dredging workers in the chemical storage tank.

  • These days the use of personal computer has become generalized at factory, office, house, etc and this fact indicates that visual display terminal work became popular in every field of our society. The use of computer improves work efficiency, productivity & qualify but in addition, it also generated the physical and mental diseases or defects so called VDT syndrome to workers. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the computer-work-related anti-physical, anti-psychogenic symptoms & side effects through the data drawn from workers who use computers on their works, and to find out methods of improvement & humanization of computer works. The follows are the results of questions about personal sensibility of VDT syndrome. 1. Female workers are more sensitive to the side effects of computer labor than males. 2. Workers aged twenties feel more severe symptoms of VDT syndrome than thirties or fourties, but there are no level of significance. 3. Middle managements workers are the most sensitive group to VDT syndrome, on the other hand tow managements are less sensitive than operators. 4. The result of questions indicates that a phone conductress show more severe VDT syndrome symptoms than business affairs or an engineer workers, with level of significance. 5. The longer computer work engagement period, the more evident VDT syndrome symptoms appear. For instance, workers who have more than 2 year engagement period complain more severe symptoms, compared workers who have less than 2 year engagement period. 6. Long computer working time per day also increases VDT syndrome severity specially people who have more than 2 hours in working time in a day have much less severe symptoms, compared people whose daily working time exceeds 2 hours. 7. Specific body part which shows VDT syndrome symptoms is shoulder, wrist, neck, finger, eye, waist, arm in the order of severity. 8. • In this study, the purpose of this study was to conduct a basic study on the effectiveness and feasibility of the regulation of the Nuclear Safety Act for the department of radiology by examining the questionnaire on the satisfaction of on-campus practice while attending the department of radiology and the current status of radiation workers and radiation related workers. As for the satisfaction of the workers who were designated as frequent visitors while attending the department of radiology and did not handle and operate the radiation generator during on-campus training, 34.62% of the workers answered 'not satisfied'. On the other hand, 50% of workers who were designated as radiation workers while attending school or who were enrolled in school before the regulation of the nuclear safety act and handled and operated radiation generators were 'satisfied' at 50%. In addition, the annual exposure dose of radiation workers in educational institutions was found to be less than 0.05 mSv. If you look at the trends of radiation workers and radiation workers, it can be seen that students who graduate from the Department of Radiology find the most employment in the field dealing with diagnostic radiation generators registered as radiation workers among medical institutions. Therefore, by easing the regulations of the current Nuclear Safety Act or by amending the medical act and the rules on the safety management of diagnostic radiation generating devices, etc. It is presumed that something is necessary.

Each technique has advantages and disadvantages. Methods: This study proposed Shiny-Sigma by combining Six Sigma has the logical advantage of the problem solving road map and Shiny has the merits of finding the root problem from the defective phenomenon. The Six Sigma method has the disadvantage that it is difficult to solve if the number of data is small, but the Shiny method has the advantage of finding the root cause with a small number of data. Results: As a result of applying Shiny-Sigma method to the field, it has advantages of solving the problem easily and quickly than the existing Six Sigma method. It does not require a lot of statistical knowledge, which helps field workers to use it. Based on these successes L Co. company has obtained the effect of improving the production quality by applying the Shiny-Sigma method. Conclusion: The Shiny-Sigma method proved to be suitable for the production site as a result of field application. It is suitable for field workers with low statistical knowledge and is suitable for field where data is difficult to obtain. This method is not a method to solve all the problems because there are problems that can be solved according to the field problems. We hope that this method will spread to many industrial sites and this method will have a great effect on the improvement of field production quality.
