A simple method to deposit carbon nanotube films uniformly on large area substrates using an arc discharge method is reported in this paper. The arc discharge method was modified to deposit carbon nanotube films in situ on the substrates. The substrates were scanned several times over the arcing point for a uniform film thickness. Deposition was carried out under variable dc bias conditions at 600 torr of $H_2$ gas. The thickness uniformity of the single-wall carbon nanotube films as characterized by a four-point probe was within 30% deviation. The morphology and crystal quality of the single-wall carbon nanotube film were also characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy.
The post - fire investigation is conducted on a fire-affected reinforced concrete shear wall building to ascertain the level of its strength degradation due to the fire incident. Fire incident took place in a three-storey building made of reinforced concrete shear wall and roof with operating floors made of steel beams and chequered plates. The usage of the building is to handle explosives. Elevated temperature during the fire is estimated to be $350^{\circ}C$ based on visual inspection. Destructive (core extraction) and non-destructive (rebound hammer and ultrasonic pulse velocity) tests are conducted to evaluate the concrete strength. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) are used for analyzing micro structural changes of the concrete due to fire. Tests are conducted for concrete walls and roof slab on both burnt and unburnt locations. The analysis of test results reveals no significant degradation of the building after the fire which signifies that the structure can be used with full expectancy of performance for the remaining service life. This document can be used as a reference for future forensic investigations of similar fire affected concrete structures.

A silver indium sulfide($AgInS_2$) epilayer was grown by the hot wall epitaxy method, which has not been reported in the literature. The grown $AgInS_2$ epilayer has found to be a chalcopyrite structure and evaluated to be high qualify crystal. From the photocurrent measurement in the temperature range from 30 K to 300 K, the two peaks of A and B were only observed, whereas the three peaks of A, B, and C were seen in the PC spectrum of 10 K. These peaks. are ascribed to the band-to-band transition. The valence band splitting of $AgInS_2$ was investigated by means of the photocurrent measurement. The crystal field splitting, $\ddot{A}cr$, and the spin orbit splitting, $\ddot{A}so$, have been obtained to be 0.150 eV and 0.009 eV at 10 K, respectively. And, the energy band gap at room temperature has been determined to be 1.868 eV. Also, the temperature dependence of the energy band gap, $E_g(T)$, was determined.
This paper deals with the modeling of the plane frame structure-foundation-soil system. The superstructure along with the foundation beam is idealized as beam bending elements. The soil medium near the foundation beam with stress concentrated is idealized by isoparametric finite elements, and infinite elements are used to represent the far field of the soil media. This paper presents the modeling of shear wall structure-foundation and soil system using the optimal membrane triangular, super and conventional finite elements. Particularly, an alternative formulation is presented for the optimal triangular elements aimed at reducing the programming effort and computational cost. The proposed model is applied to a plane frame-combined footing-soil system. It is shown that the total settlement obtained from the non-linear interactive analysis is about 1.3 to 1.4 times that of the non-interactive analysis. Furthermore, the proposed model was found to be efficient in simulating the shear wall-foundation-soil system, being able to yield results that are similar to those obtained by the conventional finite element method.
This paper presents the development and implementation of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based deep excavation induced wall and ground displacements and wall support member forces prediction program (ANN-EXCAV). The program has been developed in a C# environment by using the well-known AI technique artificial neural network (ANN). Program used ANN to predict the induced displacement, groundwater drawdown and wall and support member forces parameters for deep excavation project and run the stability check by comparing predict values to the calculated allowable values. Generalised ANNs were trained to predict the said parameters through databases generated by numerical analysis for cases that represented real field conditions. A practical example to run the ANN-EXCAV is illustrated in this paper. Results indicate that the program efficiently performed the calculations with a considerable accuracy, so it can be handy and robust tool for preliminary design of wall and support members for deep excavation project.
The wall film-wise condensation plays an important role in the heat transfer processes of heat exchangers, refrigerators, and air conditioner. In the field of nuclear engineering, steam condensation is often utilized in safety systems to remove the core decay heat under both transient and accident conditions. In particular, passive containment cooling system (PCCS), are designed to ensure containment safety under severe accident conditions. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) scale analysis has been conducted to calculate the heat transfer rate of the PCCS. However, despite the increase in computing power, there are challenges in the long-term transient simulation of containment using CFD scale codes. In this study, a heat structure coupling between the CFD and system analysis codes was performed to efficiently analyze PCCS. In addition, the component unstructured program for interfacial dynamics (CUPID) was improved to analyze the condensation behavior of ternary gas mixtures. Thereafter, the condensation heat transfer on the primary side was calculated using the improved CUPID and CFD code, whereas that on the secondary side was simulated using MARS. Both the coupled codes were validated against the CONAN facility database. Finally, conjugate heat transfer simulations with wall condensation in the presence of non-condensable gases were appropriately performed.
This study investigates the static and dynamic structural analysis of symmetrical and asymmetrical coupled shear walls using the continuous and modified transfer matrix methods by idealizing the coupled shear wall as a three-field CTB-type replacement beam. The coupled shear wall is modeled as a continuous structure consisting of the parallel coupling of a Timoshenko beam in tension (with axial extensibility in the shear walls) and a shear beam (replacing the beam coupling effect between the shear walls). The variational method using the Hamilton principle is used to obtain the coupled differential equations and the boundary conditions associated with the model. Using the continuous method, closed-form analytical solutions to the differential equation for the coupled shear wall with uniform properties along the height are derived and a numerical solution using the modified transfer matrix is proposed to overcome the difficulty of coupled shear walls with non-uniform properties along height. The computational advantage of the modified transfer matrix method compared to the classical method is shown. The results of the numerical examples and the parametric analysis show that the proposed analytical and numerical model and method is accurate, reliable and involves reduced processing time for generalized static and dynamic structural analysis of coupled shear walls at a preliminary stage and can used as a verification method in the final stage of the project.

Reinforced concrete structures require large amounts of concrete and rebar in the construction stage. Rebar is a major resource for reinforced concrete structures, and generates more CO2 per unit weight than other materials. To solve this problem, it was confirmed that the cutting waste can be close to zero when the special length of the rebar is calculated in the drawing created after structural design. However, a system for automatically calculating the length of reinforcing bars to efficiently calculate the total amount of reinforcing bars has not been established. Therefore, the objective of this study is a basic study of automatic rebar length estimate algorithm of bearing wall by using BIM-based shape codes built in Revit. The bearing wall rebar can be automatically derived using the developed model. Furthermore, through applying the developed model to the construction field, it will greatly contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by reducing rebar cutting waste.

In general steel sheet pile use the containment system, vertical barrier systems for waste disposal and landfill purposes, roads in excavation which have a more permanent character or temporary structure. The sheet pile joints between section of the wall are sealed with a filter material arid the resistance to seepage is a function of the type of material employed. The aim of this paper is to review a characteristic of permeability for Z type sheet pile by field test in various condition.
This paper shows the feasibility of the suggestion that the angle distribution of incident sound to panels might be gaussian, instead of the conventional uniform distribution in the analysis of transmission loss of panels. To prove the suggestion, the problems with the diffuse sound field in a reverberation room are examined by case studies and the comparision of the prediction with the measurement of sound transmission loss of walls are performed. The results of the comparision show good agreement between the two values.
