The cost needed for the construction and management of highways in the whole nation is rapidly growing so the research that can decrease the cost is required. However, most of the highway specs have simply converted from those of other countries, including USA. Therefore, some of our design and construction specs were not the optimum ones based on our own situation, requiring a research under the actual traffic and environment of our nation. The use of test road develops many aspects of highway engineering. Those are evaluation of construction materials, a general overview of korea pavement design and serviceability under the actual traffic and environmental condition of the nation. It is also economical and efficient compared to the trial construction of each item in spreaded form. A test road, 7.7km long with two lanes, is being constructed on the Inner Central Expressway. In this test road, 2.7km is planned for asphalt pavement and 3.4km is planned for concrete pavement. Three test bridges and five earth retaining structures will be included in the test road. Based on the master plan, the major performance was progressing such as detailed research modules of each area, preliminary research for the future research, sensor surveys for the behavior analyses of pavements and structures with installation methods and data acquisition systems, the foundation research of Integrated Instrumentation System and the Management Plan for automated measurement. Some area(structure research division, geotechnical research division) was designed the instrumentation plan because some instrument sensors must be installed during the construction of the test road. And then the instrumentation plan of each area was enforcing because a large majority of the instrument sensors must be installed after the construction of the test road. The field surveys with material property tests and pilot instrumentation test with sensor tests was also performing in accordance with the construction in the field.

This paper presents the improvement of the field uniformity in a reverberation chamber which can be substitute an anechoic chamber for the electromagnetic interference (EMI) and immunity test. Nowadays, there are many EMI issues due to the increasing use of wireless local area network (LAN), digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB), and mobile internet. With this reason, this paper studied the field characteristics in a reverberation chamber for 2.3 GHz band. In this paper, the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is used to analyze the field characteristics in a reverberation chamber. To improve the field uniformity in the reverberation chamber, this paper adopted a 2D cubical residue diffuser (CRD) with varying the disposition and number of CRD. For each case, the tolerance and standard deviation of the electric field strength are evaluated. In comparison with the reverberation chamber without any CRD, the reverberation chamber with two CRDs showed improved results; 1.98 dB improvement in standard deviation and 3.6 dB improvement in tolerance.

A fuzzy logic for collision avoiding navigation of marine vehicles is proposed in this paper. VFF(Virtual Force Field) method, which is used widely in the field of mobile robots, is modifiel to apply to marine vehicles. The method is named MVFF (Modified Virtual Force Field) mothod. The MVFF consists of the determination of the heading angles far track-keeping mode ($\psi_{ca}$)and collision avoidance mode ($\psi_{ca}$). The operator can choose the pattern of the track-keeping mode in the proposed algorithm. The collision avoidance algorithm can handle static and/or moving obstacles. These functons are implemented using fuzzy logic. Various simulation results verify the proposed alogorithm.
Biometrics is the electronic recognition of individuals achieved through a process of extracting, and then verifying, features which are unique to that individual. This field is rapidly evolving technology that has to be widely adopted in a broad range of applications. Many methods have been studied such as extraction of the facial features, the voice, the vein and even a person's signature. Among biometrics, a hand veins provide large, robust, stable, hidden biometric features. Hand vein patterns have been proven to be absolutely unique by Cambridge Consultants Ltd. Because of this advantage, hand vein recognition are recently developing field in the field of a security.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are directly grown on W-tips at $700^{\circ}C$ using an ICP-CVD method. Sharpening of W-tip is done by electrochemical etch and their diameters are limited to range from $3{\mu}m$ to $5{\mu}m$. Catalysts for CNTs growth are formed by RF and DC co-sputtering systems using Ni and Co. The composition ratio of Ni and Co has been evaluated by energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The micro-images of CNTs are monitored by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). It is observed from Raman study that the intensity of the D-peak is increased by increasing the amount of Co catalyst. Furthermore, the measurement of field emission properties of CNTs show that the CNT grown on a single Co catalyst possess the greatest performance such as $V_{th}$=1,115V and $I_{max}=164{\mu}A$.
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are grown on the TiN-coated silicon substrate by varying the thickness of Ni and Invar426 catalyst layers at 600$^{\circ}C$ using an inductively coupled plasma-chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD). The Ni and Invar426 catalysts are formed using an RF magnetron sputtering system with various deposition periods. Characterization using various techniques, such as FESEM, HRTEM, and Raman spectroscopy, shows that the physical dimension as well as the crystal quality of grown CNTs are strongly changed by the kind and thickness of catalyst materials. It is also seen that Ni catalysts would be more desirable for vertical-alignment of CNTs compared with Invar426 catalysts. However, the CNTs using Invar426 catalysts display much better electron emission capabilities than those using Ni catalysts. The physical reason for all the measured data obtained are discussed to establish the relationship between structural properties and field-emissive properties of CNTs.

A tip-type carbon nanotube(CNT)-based field emitter was studied to consider it as electron source for micro-focused x-ray tube. The CNT was grown directly on a metal (tungsten) substrate by using an inductively coupled plasma-chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD) method. Prior to CNT growth, the metal substrate was etched to have various tip angles from $10^{\circ}$ to $180^{\circ}C$ (flat-type). The morphologies and microstructures of all the grown CNTs were analyzed via field-emission SEM. Furthermore, the effects of substrate tip-angles on the emission properties of CNT-based field emitters were characterized to estimate the maximum current density, the turn-on voltage, and the spatial distribution of electron beams. Prolonged long-term stability testing of the CNT emitters was also performed. All the experiment results obtained from this study indicated why a tip-type CNT emitter, compared with a flat-type CNT emitter, would be more desirable for a micro-focused x-ray system, in terms of the emission current level, the focused beam area, and the emission stability.
We present experimental results that regard the effects of catalyst preparation on the structural and field-emissive properties of CNTs. The CNTs used in this research have been synthesized using the inductively coupled plasma-chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD) method. Catalyst materials (such as Ni, Co, and Invar 426) are varied and deposited on buffer films by RF magnetron sputtering. Prior to growth of CNTs, $NH_3$ plasma etching has also been performed with varying plasma etching time and power. For all the CNTs grown, nanostructures and morphologies are analyzed using Raman spectroscopy and FESEM, in terms of buffer films, catalyst materials, and pre-treatment conditions. Furthermore, the field electron-emission of CNTs are measured and characterized in terms of the catalyst preparation environments. The CNTs grown on Nicatalyst layer would be more effectual for enhancing the growth rate and achieving the vertical-alignment of CNTs rather than other buffer materials from results of SEM study. The crystalline graphitic structure of CNTs is improved as the catalyst dot reaches a critical size. Also, the field-emission result shows that the CNTs using Ni catalyst would be more favorable for improving electron-emission capabilities of CNTs compared with other samples.
This paper presents a new collison-free trajectory problem for SCARA robot manipulator. we use artificial potential field for collison detection and avoidance. The potential function is typically defined as the sum of attractive potential pulling the robot toward the goal configuration and a repulsive potential pushing the robot away from the obstacles. In here, end-effector of manipulator is represented as a particle in configuration space and moving obstacles is simply represented, too. we consider not fixed obstacle but moving obstacle in random. So, we propose new distance function of artificial potential field with moving obstacle for SCARA robot. At every sampling time, the artificial potential field is update and the force driving manipulator is derived from the gradient vector of artificial potential field. To real-time path planning, we apply very simple modeling to obstacle. Some simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grown on the TiN-coated silicon substrate with different thickness of Ni and Co catalysts layer at $600^{\circ}C$ using inductively coupled plasma-chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD). The Ni and Co catalysts were formed using the RF magnetron sputtering system with various deposition times. It was found that the growth of CNTs was strongly influenced by the surface morphology of Ni and Co catalysts. With increasing deposition time, the thickness of catalysts increased and the grain boundary size of catalysts increased. The surface morphology of catalysts and CNTs were elucidated by SEM. The Raman spectrum further confirmed the graphitic structure of the CNTs. The turn-on field of CNTs grown on Ni and Co catalysts was about 2.7V/pm and 1.9V/pm respectively. Field emission current density of CNTs grown on Ni and Co catalysts was measured as $11.67mA/cm^2$ at $5.5V/{\mu}m$ and $1.5mA/cm^2$ at $5.5V/{\mu}m$ respectively.
