  • The KOMPSAT system incorporates multiple missions designed to provide various applications in the field of Korean peninsula observation covering land, sea and coastal zones. The missions are Korea cartography (1:25,000 scale maps of the Korean peninsula), biological oceanography and science instrument accommodation. The operational availability of KOMPSAT TTC system should be predicted more accurately because its failure has a significant influence on satellite command and tracking and on satellite data collection. In this paper, system availability structure of KOMPSAT TTC system are made and availability of KOMPSAT TTC system is analyzed aspect to the system operation in accordance with logistic condition.

RBI 절차의 석유화학 플랜트 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Implementation of Risk Based Inspection Procedures to a Petrochemical Plant)

  • During the last ten years, the need has been increased for reducing maintenance cost for aged equipments and ensuring safety, efficiency and profitability of petrochemical and refinery plants. RBI (Risk Based Inspection) methodology is one of the most promising technologies satisfying the need in the field of integrity management. In this study, a user-friendly software, realRBl for RBI based on the API 581 code was developed. This software has modules for evaluating qualitative and semi-quantitative risk level, analyzing quantitative risks using the potential consequences of a failure of the pressure boundary, and assessing the likelihood of failure. A quantitative analysis was performed for 16 columns in a domestic NCC (Naphtha Cracking Center) plant whose operating time reaches about 12 years. Each column was considered as two equipment parts by dividing into top and bottom. Generic column failure frequencies were adjusted based on likelihood data. After determining release rate, release duration and release mass for each failure scenario, flammable/explosive and toxic consequences were assessed. Current risks for 32 equipment parts were evaluated and risk based prioritization were determined as a final result.

  • Module of the LED traffic signal is the core component for the care of driver and walker. Also it is important one to control the traffic. If it is against the criteria of brightness, it is the source of the people's death and traffic congestion. Therefore, it is a list of articles desired the security of stability. However, there is not the analysis of failure and not preserve the uniformity of quality. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the criteria of appreciation for the module of the LED traffic signal to analysis the data of failure. In this paper, we investigate the performance test, environment field test and test of reliability appreciation to improve the reliability. We also set up the criteria of success decision using the real measurement data.

광섬유 센서와 지중경사계를 이용한 사면의 거동 분석 (Analysis of Slope Behavior Using FBG Sensor and Inclinometer)

  • 사면 내에 설치된 억지말뚝의 보강효과를 평가하고, 사면의 가상 파괴면을 예측하기 위하여 지속적인 계측관리를 통한 사면의 거동을 감지할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 계측기를 통한 계측자료가 사면과 억지말뚝의 안정성 및 보강효과를 평가할 수 있는 자료로 활용될 수 있도록 하기 위한 것으로, 현장에 설치된 억지말뚝에 광섬유 센서(FBG 센서), V/W 및 경사계를 설치하여, 사면 내 억지말뚝의 거동분석을 하였다. 또한 각 계측기의 데이터를 비교 분석함으로써, 광섬유 센서와 같은 스마트 계측기술을 실제 토목 구조물에 활용할 수 있는 방안을 현장시험을 통해 검증하고자 한다. 이를 위해 각 계측기에서 구하여진, 연구 대상사면의 거동과 억지말뚝의 보강효과 및 변형률 분포의 상관관계를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, FBG 센서와 V/W 센서 및 경사계의 계측결과가 잘 일치하며, 억지말뚝에 의한 사면의 보강효과가 충분함을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, the normalized variable V=(log N-B)(log ${\Delta}{\sigma}-C$-C), as derived from the probabilistic S-N field of Castillo and Canteli, is taken as a reference for calculation of damage accumulation and probability of failure using the Miner number in scenarios of variable amplitude loading. Alternative damage measures, such as the classical Miner and logarithmic Miner, are also considered for comparison between theoretical lifetime prediction and experimental data. The suitability of this approach is confirmed for it provides safe lifetime prediction when applied to fatigue data obtained for riveted joints made of a puddle iron original from the Fao bridge, as well as for data from experimental programs published elsewhere carried out for different materials (aluminium and concrete specimens) under distinct variable loading histories.

  • Hydraulic breakers, the attachment devices of the excavators, refer to a machine that converts back and forth motions of pistons into energies to break objects down finely. As the use of hydraulic breakers has been steadily increasing world-wide, consumers have become more interested in not just the quality of hydraulic breakers but their reliability. This study show functions and usages of several main parts on hydraulic breakers. In addition, based on the effect of action of hydraulic breakers, FMEA was performed to figure out the major causes and manifestations of malfunctioning. As above mentioned, we analyzed reliability of hydraulic breakers by models, and the data that had been used for the analyses were obtained from malfunctioning data in the field.

한계해석법에 의한 파일-지반-터널 상호작용 해석 (Upper and Lower Bound Solutions for Pile-Soil-Tunnel Interaction)

  • In urban areas, new tunnel construction work is often taking place adjacent to existing piled foundations. In this case, careful assessment for the pile-soil-tunnel interaction is required. However, research on this topic has not been much reported, and currently only limited information is available. In this study, the complex pile-soil-tunnel interaction is investigated using the upper and lower bound methods based on kinematically possible failure mechanism and statically admissible stress field respectively. It is believed that the limit theorem is useful in understanding the complicated interaction behaviour mechanism and applicable to the pile-soil-tunnel interaction problem. The results are compared with numerical analysis. The material deformation patterns and strain data from the FE output are shown to compare well with the equivalent physical model tests. Admissible stress fields and the failure mechanisms are presented and used to develop upper and lower bound solutions to assess minimum support pressures within the tunnel.

  • In Korea, the multi-dwelling residential buildings are most popular housing system that is reinforced concrete shear wall system. However, the serviceability and safety of the system have been decreased because of the errors in design or construction and inadequate maintenance. In addition the safety of the system cannot be evaluated reasonably because the system is analyzed by the deterministic approach. Therefore, this study is aimed to analyze reinforced concrete shear walls by the reliability approach considering uncertainty based on the probability theory. In this study, a reliability analysis program using MATLAB is developed by combining AFOSM and Sampling Method for the reinforced concrete shear walls within feasible design area. The reasonable reliability index β of ultimate limit states for RC shear walls are calculated automatically using this developed program with the measured data those have means and standard deviations in the field. The ultimate states are compression failure, tension failure, governing compression, and governing bending of the reinforced concrete shear walls respectively. To estimate the safety of the system using developed program can be used to predict residual life-time of the system.

  • We analyse reliability of multi-state UH-60 helicopter hydraulic pump system with a multi-functional standby component using Markov analysis method. The system consists of seven components: 2 main pumps, 1 standby pump, 2 primary servos, and 2 tail rotor servos. The standby pump can take over when one more than components fail. Therefore the standby pump is multi-functional standby component. The system has four states: good, deteriorated, dangerous, and failed. The components have 2 states: working and failed. We assume the system is unrepairable when the components fail. We estimate failure distributions and rates using collected failure time data in field. And we classify multi-state of the system according to emergency procedure of UH-60A student handout. We obtain the reliabilities of multi-state system using Visual Basic program because the differential equations is extremely complicated and tedious to solve.

Wire-wrap Models for Subchannel Blockage Analysis

  • The distributed resistance model has been recently implemented into the MATRA-LMR code in order to improve its prediction capability over the wire-wrap model for a flow blockage analysis in the LMR. The code capability has been investigated using experimental data observed in the FFM (Fuel Failure Mock-up)-2A and 5B for two typical flow conditions in a blocked channel. The predicted results by the MATRA-LMR with a distributed resistance model agreed well with the experimental data for wire-wrapped subchannels. However, it is suggested that the parameter n in the distributed resistance model needs to be calibrated accurately for a reasonable prediction of the temperature field under a low flow condition. Finally, the analyses of a blockage for the assembly of the KALIMER design are performed. Satisfactory results by the MATRA-LMR code were obtained through and rerified a comparison with results of the SABRE code.
