  • We study optical quantum transition line widths in relation to magnetic field dependence properties of the electrons confined in an infinite square well potential system between z = 0 and z = Lz in the z - direction. We consider two systems-one is subject to right circularly oscillating external fields and the other is subject to left circularly oscillatory external fields. Our results indicate that the line widths of right circularly oscillating external fields is larger than the line widths of left, while the opposite result is obtained for the line widths.

  • The catalytic activities of palladium(0,Ⅰ,Ⅱ)-diphosphine complexes were investigated in styrene oxidation using H2O2 as terminal oxidant. The rates showed a dependence on the chelate ring patterns of complexes (PdCl2L); 5-membered ring (L=dppe: 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) < 6-membered ring (L=dppp: 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane) < 4-membered ring (L= dppm: bis(diphenylphosphino)methane). This sequence correlates with the ligand field strength and interactions between metal and phosphine ligands. Pd(Ⅱ,Ⅰ)-diphosphine complexes which are capable of making 4-membered chelate ring showed an enhancement of catalytic activities for styrene oxidation. The catalytic activities of Pd(0,Ⅰ,Ⅱ)-diphosphine complexes are described in terms of electronic and steric factors.

  • Some features of tidal energy horizontal flux in the ocean are considered. using the concept of “energy flux ellipses” which is a hodograph of momentary fluxes over a tidal semi-period. A number of characteristics of this ellipse are considered as well as some peculiarities of energy flux field in different types of tidal waves and their combinations (plane, Kelvin, Sverdrup, Poincare, amphidromic system). For forced tidal waves in equatorial channels some results are obtained explaining the dependence of energy flux direction on the channel dimensions.

  • In this study, the effect of bending strain on the transport property and critical current of lap and butt-jointed (non-laminated) BSCCO tapes has been investigated. The samples were joined using a mechanically controlled jointing procedure. To achieve a uniform thickness at the joint a single point loading contact has been devised. GFRP mandrels with different bending radii which support the sample during bending have been used. $I_c$ have been measured at 77 K and self field. In the case of easy bending test for jointed BSCCO tapes, sudden degradation of $I_c$ is caused by the local strain concentration due to non uniform deformation at the edge parts of the joint. In the case of hard bending test of jointed BSCCO tapes transverse macroscopic crack at specific subsection caused a large $I_c$ degradation. The transport property of jointed BSCCO tapes in each bending mode was discussed with the damage morphology occurred.

  • Fe-Au alloys are characterized by the complete solubility, and exhibit an fcc-bcc structural transformation at the Fe-rich side. The magneto-optical(equatorial Ken effect : EKE) and optical properties of Fe$\_$1-x/Aux (0 < x < 1) were investigated in the 0.5 - 5.0 eV energy range. The x-ray diffraction study shows the structural fcc-bcc transformation about 80 at. % of Fe. Noticeable changes in the optical properties caused by the fcc-bcc structural transformation was observed. The shape and intensity of the EKE spectra as well as the field dependence of the magneto-optical response were also significantly changed. It is thought that these changes are mainly comes from the induced magnetic moment in Au(and/or the emhanced magnetic moment of Fe). The nature of the prominent structure observed in the UV range of the magneto-optical Ken effect of Au/Fe multilayered films are disscussed in connection with the above results.

  • The influence of the order-disorder structural transition on the magnetic and mageto-optical, and transport properties of Fe-Al and Co-Al alloy films has been investigated. The disordered states in the alloy films were prepared by vapor quenching deposition on glass substrates cooled by liquid nitrogen. The experimental study of the magento-optical properties of the ordered and disordered Fe-Al and Co-Al alloy films has been carried out in 1.05-5.0 eV energy range at room temperature. The transport properties have been measured in 2-300K temperature range with and without magnetic field of 0.5T. The influence of the order-disorder structural transition on the magnetic and magneto-optical properties was discussed by using the effective medium approximation and the structural defect approach. That on the temperature dependence of the resistivity was analyzed in a framework of the partial localization of the electronic states and the variable range hopping conductivity.

  • The magnetization angle and thickness dependence of magnetic anisotropy in the exchange-biased [Pd/Co]${\times}$5/FeMn multilayers with an out-of-plane anisotropy were investigated to determine the origin of perpendicular exchange biasing. As the Co thickness increased to 1.5 nm in the [Pd(0.8 nm)/Co(t)]${\times}$5/FeMn(120 nm) films, the hysteresis loops were converted from square loops at a thin Co (<0.4 nm) to complicated round ones at a thick Co. The irregularly asymmetric step (IAS) at the left top of the loop appeared in the loop of the 0.6-nm Co film due to an inhomogeneity in the exchange anisotropy. As the Pd thickness increased to 1.6 nm, the step disappeared, and the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy was maximized in the Co thickness between 0.6 and 0.9 nm. The conversion of the magnetization loop along the magnetization angle coincided with the equation $H_{(eff)}=H_o\;cos{\theta}$. The IAS of the 0.8-nm Pd film disappeared after thermal annealing up to $200^{\circ}C$ under an external magnetic field.

  • This paper presents the discharge characteristics and economic feasibility of a Dry $Air/O_2$ and a $N_2/O_2$ mixture gas in order to review $SF_6$ alternative. From AC discharge experiment in an quasi-uniform field, it was found that the optimal $N_2/O_2$ mixing ratio which breakdown voltage and surface flashover voltage were the highest was 70/30 and that the pressure dependence on the breakdown voltage was higher than that of the surface flashover voltage in the Dry $Air/O_2$ and the $N_2/O_2$ mixture gas. The mixing ratio (70/30) and the tendency of the pressure dependence were described in detail based on physical factors (impact ionization coefficient, electron attachment coefficient, secondary electron emission coefficient) involved in discharge mechanism and a electron source, respectively. In addition, the performance insulation and the economic feasibility of the Dry $Air/O_2$ and the $N_2/O_2$ mixture gas were discussed so that Dry $Air/O_2$ mixture gaswas more suitable than $N_2/O_2$ mixture gas to the $SF_6$ alternative.

  • The mechanical properties of REBCO coated conductor (CC) wires under uniaxial tension are largely determined by the thick component layers in the architecture, namely, the substrate and the stabilizer or even the reinforcement layer. Depending on device applications of the CC tapes, it is necessary to reinforce thin metallic foils externally to one-side or both sides of the CC tapes. Due to the external reinforcement of brass foils, it was found that this could increase the reversible strain limit from the Cu-stabilized CC tapes. In this study, the effects of differently hardened brass foil laminate on the electromechanical property of CC tapes were investigated under uniaxial tension loading. The tensile strain dependence of the critical current ($I_c$) was measured at 77 K and self-field. Depending on whether the $I_c$ of CC tapes were measured during loading or after unloading, a reversible strain (or stress) limit could be determined, respectively. The both-sides of the Cu-stabilized CC tapes were laminated with brass foils with different hardness, namely 1/4H, 1H and EH. From the obtained results, it showed that the yield strength of the brass laminated CC tapes with EH brass foil laminate was comparable to the one of the Cu-stabilized CC tape due to its large yield strength even though its large volume fraction. It was found that the brass foil with different hardness was mainly sensitive on the stress dependence of $I_c$, but not on the strain sensitivity due to the residual strain induced in the laminated CC tapes during unloading.

  • The dependence of CT scanning parameters on the CT number to physical density conversion from the CT image of CT and CBCT electron density phantom acquired by the CT scanner using in radiotherapy were analyzed by experiment. The CT numbers were independent of the tube current product exposure time, slice thickness, filter of image reconstruction, field of view and volume of phantom. But the CT numbers were dependent on the tube voltage and cross section of phantom. As a result, for physical density range above 0, the maximum CT number difference observed at the tube voltage between 90 and 120 kVp was 27%, and the maximum CT number difference observed between CT body and head electron density phantom was 15%.
