In this paper a new method to correct the differential non-linearity(D NL) error for a successive approximation is proposed. The DNL of ADC is very important characteristic in the field of radiation pulse height analysis or measurement of probability density function. The results of computer simulations are shown to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed correction method.

Although various studies about indoor positioning systems, such as beacon and Wifi, have been conducting for indoor positioning of workers at construction sites, these systems have limitations in terms of accuracy or economics. To overcome these limitations, geomagnetic field sequence-based indoor positioning technology can be a good alternative. However, it is necessary to correct the geomagnetic field near the construction material stocking area since the geomagnetic field can be distorted near construction materials such as rebars. Therefore, this study conducted an experiment for identifying correction range of geomagnetic field near the construction material stocking area. It was analyzed that the geomagnetic field should be corrected up to 60cm in the horizontal direction from the stocking point if the height of stocking area for rebars is 40cm or more. This study can be used for important reference for development of geomagnetic field sequence-based indoor positioning technology suitable for construction sites.

Motion blur in PET (Positron emission tomography) images induced by respiratory motion will reduce the quality of imaging. Although exiting methods have positive performance for respiratory motion correction in medical practice, there are still many aspects that can be improved. In this paper, an improved 3D unsupervised framework, Res-Voxel based on U-Net network was proposed for the motion correction. The Res-Voxel with multiple residual structure may improve the ability of predicting deformation field, and use a smaller convolution kernel to reduce the parameters of the model and decrease the amount of computation required. The proposed is tested on the simulated PET imaging data and the clinical data. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed achieved Dice indices 93.81%, 81.75% and 75.10% on the simulated geometric phantom data, voxel phantom data and the clinical data respectively. It is demonstrated that the proposed method can improve the registration and correction performance of PET image.

In this study, the reverberation time of apartment living room was measured and distribution of the reverberation time was analyzed. In addition, sound field characteristics of mock-up test room similar with living room and timber structured bedroom was investigated with addition of furniture and sound absorption material. Average reverberation time of unfurnished apartment unit was 1.11 s, and reverberation time in 630 Hz~2000 Hz bands were longer than 1.2 s. It was found that from the field measurement results, reverberation time characteristic of furnished apartment living room was uniform in most of frequency bands. Averaged reverberation time of furnished living room was 0.48 s and the reverberation time of bedroom was 0.44 s. Standardized sound pressure level correction values were calculated from the average reverberation time of furnished and unfurnished apartment units. The correction value of unfurnished living room was −3.4 dB and that of furnished living room was 0.2 dB. Measured reverberation time of furnished and unfurnished apartment units indicated that reference reverberation time; 0.5 s, in KS and ISO standards is reasonable also in Korean residential environment.

Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) is to estimate potential soil loss and has benefit in use with its simplicity. The equation is composed of five factors, one of the factors is the slope length and steepness factor (LS factor) that is for topographic property of fields to estimate potential soil loss. Since the USLE was developed, many equations to compute LS was suggested with field measurement. Nowadays the factor is often computed in GIS software with digital elevation model, however it was reported that the factor is very sensitive to the resolution of digital elevation model. In addition, the digital elevation model of high resolution less than 3 meter is required in small field application, however these inputs are not associate with the empirical models' backgrounds since the empirical models were derived in 22.1 meter field measurements. In the study, four equation to compute LS factor and two approaches to determine slope length and steepness were examined, and correction factor was suggested to provide reasonable precision in LS estimations. The correction factor is computed with field area and cell size of digital elevation model, thus the correction factor can be adapted in any USLE-based models using LS factor at field level.
Background: Even though degrees of deformation of microform cleft lip are not high, it has to be corrected with various procedures upon conditions and areas since it has various expressions. Many studies have focused on the classifications and procedures, but there are only a few studies on how much these procedures are performed in the actual field. This study aims to analyze the utilization of various procedures upon major correction points. Methods: A total of 52 patients who had been corrected by one surgeon from 1995 to 2011 were enrolled as subjects. Based on the medical records, it was checked whether the incision was made or not along with the correction procedures for alar base and philtral column, Cupid's bow, and vermillion free margin. Results: In case of an incision, full incision (42 times) was conducted most frequently. For alar base and philtral column, muscle re-approximation (25 times) was performed most frequently. However, recently, it was shown that excision on only the affected area and correction with dermis were more likely to be used. For Cupid's bow and vermilion free margin, elliptical excision on the only affected area followed by re-approximation was performed most frequently for 46 times (Cupid's bow) and 44 times (vermilion free margin), respectively. Conclusion: For the correction of microform cleft lip, less invasive procedures are preferred. However, in the actual field, if needed, aggressive procedures consisting of incisions have been conducted to correction. These trends are somewhat changed to utilization of a simple procedure, such as excision on the modified area, followed by a re-approximation rather than complicated procedures using the muscle.
The present study addresses the open end correction associated with the reflection and discharge phenomena of a weak shock wave from an open end of a duct. The open end correction of the weak shock wave is investigated experimentally and by numerical computation. An experiment is made using a simple shock tube with an open end, and computation is performed to simulate the experimental flow field using the unsteady, axisymmetric, compressible, flow governing equations. The results obtained show that an open end correction should be involved for shock wave discharge and reflection problems generated from the exit of the duct with an open end baffle plate. With a baffle plate less than three times the duct diameter, it is found that the open end correction is a function of both the diameter of the baffle plate and normal shock wave magnitude. However, for a baffle plate larger than three times the duct diameter, it is independent of the baffle plate diameter. The present computations predict the results of shock tube experiment with good accuracy. A new empirical equation for prediction of the open end correction is found for the weak shock reflection and discharge phenomena occurring at the open end of the duct with and without a baffle plate.

In this study, we estimated inhomogeneity correction factor in small field. And, we evaluated accuracy of treatment planning and measurement data which applied inhomogeneity correction factor or not. We developed the Inhomogeneity Correction Phantom (ICP) for insertion of inhomogeneity materials. The inhomogeneity materials were 12 types in each different electron density. This phantom is able to adapt the EBT film and 0.125 cc ion chamber for measurement of dose distribution and point dose. We evaluated comparison of planning and measurement data using ICP. When we applied to inhomogeneity correction factor or not, the average difference was 1.63% and 10.05% in each plan and film measurement data. And, the average difference of dose distribution was 10.09% in each measurement film. And the average difference of point dose was 0.43% and 2.09% in each plan and measurement data. In conclusion, if we did not apply the inhomogeneity correction factor in small field, it shows more great difference in measurement data. The planning system using this study shows good result for correction of inhomogeneity materials. In radiosurgery using small field, we should be correct the inhomogeneity correction factor, more exactly.

As a first step toward a complete CFD-CSD coupling for helicopter rotor load analysis, the present study attempts to loosely couple a CFD code with a source-double panel method. The far-field wake effects were calculated by a time-marching free vortex wake method and were implemented into the CFD module via field velocity approach. Unlike the lifting line method, the air loads correction process is not trivial for the source-doublet panel method. The air loads correction process between the source-doublet method and CFD is newly suggested in this work and the computation results are validated against available data for well-known hovering flight conditions.
