  • As power plant facilities are being deteriorated, their safety is getting more importance, and more routine surveillance is being required. For this purpose, this paper presents a field robot system which performs the surveillance of power plant facilities instead of human workers from the viewpoint of the workers' safety and work efficiency.

  • HANJUNG has developed demonstration plant treating combustion flue gas such as dioxide($SO_2$) and nitrogen oxides(NOx). Before operating this system, we tested the inner airflow characteristic of demonstration plant in the front of plasma reactor field 1 and field 2. The experimental results of $25,000Nm^3/hr$ airflow are compared with the computational results using FLUENT code. It is found that the velocity distribution trends are matched the experimental results with the calculation results. To improve the eccentric airflow in the inlet hood, it is necessary to install the vertical guide vane as well as the horizontal guide vane.

  • Burkholderia glumae causes bacterial rice grain rot and bacterial wilt on many field crops. We developed a simple diagnostic streak method for the isolation of B. glumae from diseased plant material. The geographical distribution of 178 Korean isolates shows that B. glumae is widely spread in South Korea.

Effects of Ambient Ozone Levels on Rice Yield (자연대기수준의 오존농도가 동진벼의 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • Open-top field chamber study was carried out to investigate effect of ambient ozone level on the yield of rice cultivar 'Dongjin' in Kwangyang area located in the vicinity of the industrial complex of Yechon petrolium refinery and chemical works or Kwangyang Iron and Steel works during the summer of 1997. mean ozone concentration of ambient air during daytime (9:00∼17:00) was revealed to exceed over 40 ppb which is defined to be a critical level causing plant injury and yield reduction in Europe. Yield component analysis showed that there was no significant difference in rice yield between ambient air and charcoal-filtered air. The results suggest that the ambient ozone levels during the exposure period had no effect on yield reduction of rice cultivar 'Dongjin' and it is likely that the cultivar is tolerant to ambient ozone levels.

  • The excitation control system of an emergency diesel generator is classified as a kind of safety-related system. Compared with other control systems in a power plant, this system is required to be more reliable and have better performance. KEPCO Research Institute successfully developed the excitation control system for a diesel generator. This paper presents its field test results by using a real time simulator on a nuclear power plant.

  • ITER 토카막의 초전도코일에 전원을 공급하는 Plant는 CCPS (Correction Coil Power Supply System), TFPS(Toroidal Field Power Supply System), PFCS(Poloidal Field & Central Solenoid)으로 구성되어 있다. 각 Plant의 AC/DC 컨버터는 초전도 코일에 막대한 전류를 흘려 토카막 내에서 1억도에 달하는 열과 전자장의 압력으로 플라즈마상태의 수소를 결합시켜 핵융합에 도달하도록 한다. MCS(Master Control System)은 플라즈마가 핵융합을 잘 구현할 수 있도록 초전도 코일에 공급하는 전원을 총괄적으로 제어한다. 특히 PFCS MCS는 토카막 장치에서 다른 Plant와의 Interface가 복잡하여 설계 및 제작에 어려움이 많다. 본 논문에서는 PFCS MCS가 ITER의 설계요건과 국제기술기준에 맞게 설계하고, 제작하였는지를 확인하기 위해 공장에서 최종 검사하는 FAT(Factory Acceptance Test) 절차를 소개하고 여러 가지 시험을 통하여 평가한 내용을 보이고자 한다.

First Report of Anthracnose Disease Caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides in Stonecrop

  • In year of 2013, anthracnose disease symptoms were observed on stem of stonecrop in a plant resource field, Southern Forest Resource Research Center, Jinju, South Korea. The disease symptoms were appeared 2-5 cm smudged irregular black spot color on the plant stems. Suspected pathogen was isolated from the lesion with surface sterilization method and identified it as Colletotrichum gloeosporioides by morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses. Artificially inoculated the isolated pathogen led to the similar disease symptom as originally observed in the field. The fungal pathogen was re-isolated from the inoculated lesion and it exhibited the same characteristics compared to the original isolate. This is the first report of anthracnose of stonecrop grown in open fields, caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides in Korea.

Vegetative Compatibility Groups and Pathogenicity Variation among Isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. melonis

  • A total of 90 isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. melonis, the causal agent of oriental melon (Cucumis melo var. makuwa) wilt, was isolated from symptomatic tissues of oriental melon from 4 provinces in Korea. These isolates were grouped into vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs) by demonstrating heterokaryosis through complementation using nitrate nonutilizing (nit) mutants. No self-incompatibility was observed in any of isolates. All isolates were grouped into 3 VCGs ; A, B, and C. iSOLATES BELONGING TO VCG A and VCG B accounted for 87% and 91% of the fungal population collected in 1991 and 1993, respectively. As the increment of cultivation period in the same field, the proportion of isolates belonging to VCG B increased whereas that of isolates belonging to VCG A decreased. Mean virulence of a total population increased as the increment of cultivation period in the same field. Isolates belonging to VCG B showed the highest increment of virulence. These data suggest that replanting of a host plant in the same field may cause increase of virulence in the pathogens. Furthermore, virulence of F. oxysporum f.sp. melonis isolates is related to the VCGs.

  • Hydraulically driven manipulators are superior to electrically driven ones in the power density and electrical insulation. But an electro-hydraulic manipulator using hydraulic actuators has many nonlinear elements, and this parameter fluctuations are greater than those of electrically driven manipulator. So this is relatively difficult to realize not only stable contact work but also accurate force control for the autonomous field task such as the maintenance task of high voltage active electric line or the automatic excavation task by hydraulic excavator. In this report, we propose robust force control algorithm, which can be applied to there real field task such as the construction field, nuclear plant and so on. Proposed force controller has the same structure as that of disturbance observe for position control. The difference between force and position disturbance observer is that the input and output of disturbance observer are forces in the case force disturbance observer and the plant varies much compared to the case of position control. In the design of force disturbance observer, generalized plant is derived and the stabilized filter is designed by H infinity control theory to ensure the robuts t stability even though the stiffness of environment changes from sponge to steel, and the contact surface also changes from flat to round shape. Experimental results show that highly robust force tracking by a 6-link electro-hydraulic manipulator could be achieved under various environment conditions.
