  • In this paper, we surveyed students of M university in DaeJeon to analyze the satisfaction and fidelity to class. Based on survey data from 1,045 participants, we verified descriptive differences in satisfaction and perceived fidelity to class among the major, non-major and online classes. Also, we verified statistical differences in satisfaction and fidelity to class according to sex, academic year grade, attending college.

  • Animation is an art, which experiences through visual and auditory sense. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the theory of film sound can be also applied to animation sound. The study also aims to find out whether the mood and feeling of animation can be influenced by rhythm and fidelity of sound. To begin with, exampled a few animations and analyzed their sound base on the theoretical background of film sound and found out that influence of rhythm and fidelity of sound in animation is much more effective than in film. To find out the relationship between the changes of the mood according to different rhythm, I have applied the various rhythms of sound in a same sequential images. Result proved that the mood of animation was changed according to different rhythms that applied to animation. sound has a great ability of delivering the mood prior to images and different sound can change the overall feeling and mood of animation. Also proved that influence of fidelity of sound is much greater than rhythms of sound, especially in comic animation.

Effects of Perceptional Fidelity and Advice of a Scientific Inquiry Computer Simulations on T ask Achievement and Metacognition in Preschoolers (과학탐구 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션의 지각적 충실도와 조언이 유아의 과제성취도 및 초인지에 미치는 효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of perceptional fidelity and advice of a computer simulation program(CSP) on task achievement and metacognition in preschoolers. the child's task was scientific inquiry into the growth process of frogs. Findings showed that instruction using the CSP resulted in higher task achievement and higher metacognition than conventional instructions. Advice provided by the CSP had no effect on task achievement but both the perceptional fidelity rate and the advice of the CSP were effective in increasing metacognition.

  • The effect of thermocycling and surface finishing on the marginal fidelity of copings for a metal ceramic crown was examined. Methods for minimizing the loss of marginal fidelity were evaluated. The results were as follows ; 1. Thermocycling of ceramic metal copings resulted in increased marginal gap. 2. The greatest marginal gap occurred during the first thermocycling of the copings. 3. No additional distortion of marginal fidelity occurred when surface finishing and second thermocycling were completed after initial thermocycling. 4. The gap increases according to various treatment methods showed group 1 to be the highest values. 5. There was no significant difference between group 2 and group 3(p>0.05) 6. There was significant difference between group 1 and group 2, 3(p<0.05). 7. There was no significant difference among the measurement sites.

Image Fidelity Assessment Using the Edge Histogram Descriptor of MPEG-7

  • An image fidelity assessment using the edge histogram descriptor (EHD) of MPEG-7 is presented. Neither additional data nor fragile watermarking is needed, and there is no need to access the original image as a reference. Only the EHDs of the original image and the received image are required. The peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) obtained by comparing the EHD extracted from the received image and that of the original image is used to assess the noise level of the received image. Experimental results show that the PSNRs calculated from the conventional pixel-to-pixel gray level and from the proposed bin-to-bin EHD maintain a proportional relationship. This implies that the EHD can be used instead of image data for the image fidelity assessments.

  • There has been rapid diffusion of digital innovation technology(DIT) such as 3 D CAD, CAE, simulation software which enable firms to see the future results of intended product designs through 3 D diagram and simulated results. This technology helps firms to reduce trial and error process by solving later stage problems in earlier stages. The DIT being the technology reflecting the real world, as a tool representing the simplified form of the real world, the degree of reflecting the real world(fidelity) is important in utilizing the DIT. This study is an exploratory research examining the process of reviewing the fidelity of the DITs and developing the complementary process necessary for utilizing the DIT with 'not good enough' fidelity. This study could draw out, from its case study, an exploratory hypothesis about the process of developing the complementary process. In the process, there is an analysis of the corresponding relationship between the actual data and the output data of the DIT, e.g. simulated result. Then the input data or output data are adjusted on the basis of the analysis of the corresponding relationship so that the discrepancy between the actual data and the expected interpretation of the output data, through the adjustment, of the DIT, can be reduced. This process is sometimes accompanied by the process of generating experimental data, which reflect the unique situation of the product development process of a company, to be put to the data base of DIT. The complementary process is the process requiring knowledge sharing and adjustment activities across different divisions. This study draw outs implications for effective management of the fidelity of DIT tools.

Effects of Web-based Simulation and High-fidelity Simulation of Acute Heart Disease Patient Care (급성 심장질환자 간호에 대한 웹기반 시뮬레이션과 고충실도 시뮬레이션 교육 효과)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of web-based simulation and high-fidelity simulation on acute heart disease patient care. Methods: The project used a comparative study design with two simulation-based training modalities. A total of 144 nursing students participated in this study: 76 students in a web-based simulation, and 68 students in a high-fidelity simulation. Participants rated their self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, interest in learning, level of stress, satisfaction with the simulation experience, and level of difficulty of the simulation. Results: The scores for self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, and interest in learning including interest in clinical training in the high-fidelity simulation group was higher than in the web-based simulation group. However, there were no significant differences in interest in learning, including interest in nursing knowledge, and in lab training, level of stress, satisfaction with the simulation experience, and level of difficulty of the simulation. Conclusion: A high-fidelity simulation of acute heart disease patient care might be beneficial to developing many more abilities for nursing students than would a web-based simulation. Also, since the web-based simulation improved interest in nursing knowledge, it could be a viable alternative to high-fidelity simulation. Further study is needed to verify the effects of varied levels of simulation-based care with more rigorous outcomes.

Fidelity analysis of Patient's Referral Letters delivered to the Department of Conservative Dentistry in a Dental University Hospital (치과대학병원 치과보존과로 전달된 진료 의뢰서의 충실도 분석)

  • In cases of a patient referral, the general dentist should communicate the patient's dental information as clearly as possible to the specialist to whom he/she is referring his/her patient. For this reason, it is necessary to write a referral letter in an accurate and complete manner. The purpose of this study is to analyze the referral letters of patients who are referred to the department of conservative dentistry in a dental university hospital. From January, 2017 to December, 2018, we gathered the information of the patients who were referred to the department of conservative dentistry in a dental university hospital with referral letter. We evaluated the fidelity of a total of 750 referral letters and recorded the information of the referral dentist and the dental clinic. The relationship between each item and fidelity was analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program. The analysis of the contents of the referral letters yielded the following results: The fidelity of the referral letter was higher when the patient was referred during the root canal treatment, or when there was a root canal filling or when there was pain during chewing. The fidelity of referral letter was low in cases where the referring clinic is close to and has cooperative relationship with dental university hospital. Among the factors affecting the fidelity, the year of graduation of the referral dentist was the most influential. This study confirmed the fact that the clinical practice of writing patient referral letters still leaves much to be desired. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to create more clear and standardized guidelines for writing referral letters.

Analysis of the virtual simulation practice and high fidelity simulation practice training experience of nursing students: A mixed-methods study (간호대학생의 Virtual 시뮬레이션 실습 및 High fidelity 시뮬레이션 실습교육 경험 분석: 혼합연구방법 적용)

  • Purpose: This study used an exploratory sequential approach (mixed methods) design to explore essential meaning through comparing and analyzing the experiences of nursing students in virtual simulation practice and high fidelity simulation practice education in parallel. Methods: The study participants were 20 nursing students, and data were collected through focus group meetings from July 17 to August 5, 2020, and via online quantitative data from November 10 to November 15, 2020. The qualitative data were analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological method, and the quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test analysis of variance and Spearman's ρ correlation. Results: The comparison between the two simulation training experiences was shown in five contextual structures, as follows: (1) reflection of the clinical field, (2) thinking theorem vs. thinking expansion, (3) individual-centered learning vs. team-centered learning, (4) attitudes toward participating in practical training, (5) metacognition of personal competency as a prospective nurse, and (6) revisiting the method of practice training. There was a positive correlation between satisfaction with the practice and the clinical judgment ability of high fidelity simulation, which was statistically significant (r=.47, p=.036). Conclusion: Comparing the experiences between virtual simulation practice training and high fidelity simulation practice training, which has increased in demand due to the Coronavirus Disease-2019 pandemic, is meaningful as it provides practical data for introspection and reflection on in-campus clinical education.

Assessment and Analysis of Fidelity and Diversity for GAN-based Medical Image Generative Model (GAN 기반 의료영상 생성 모델에 대한 품질 및 다양성 평가 및 분석)

  • Recently, various researches on medical image generation have been suggested, and it becomes crucial to accurately evaluate the quality and diversity of the generated medical images. For this purpose, the expert's visual turing test, feature distribution visualization, and quantitative evaluation through IS and FID are evaluated. However, there are few methods for quantitatively evaluating medical images in terms of fidelity and diversity. In this paper, images are generated by learning a chest CT dataset of non-small cell lung cancer patients through DCGAN and PGGAN generative models, and the performance of the two generative models are evaluated in terms of fidelity and diversity. The performance is quantitatively evaluated through IS and FID, which are one-dimensional score-based evaluation methods, and Precision and Recall, Improved Precision and Recall, which are two-dimensional score-based evaluation methods, and the characteristics and limitations of each evaluation method are also analyzed in medical imaging.
