The objective of this study was to investigate the mechanical characteristics of fiber-reinforced lightweight soil using waste fishing net or monofilament for recycling both dredged soils and bottom ash. Reinforced lightweight soil consists of dredged soil, cement, air foam, and bottom ash. Waste fishing net or monoiament was added the mixture in order to increase the shear strength of the lightweight soil. Test specimens were fabricated with various mixing conditions, including waste fishing net content and monofilament content. Several series of unconfined compression tests and direct shear tests were carried out. From the experimental results, it was found that the unconfined compressive strength, as well as the stress-strain behavior of reinforced lightweight soil was strongly influenced by mixing conditions. In this study, the maximum increase in shear strength was obtained with either a 0.5% content of monofilament or 0.25% waste fishing net. The unconfined compressive strength of reinforced lightweight soil with monofilament was greater than that of reinforced lightweight soil with waste fishing net.

In this paper, fiber optic sound and vibration monitoring sensor which is latticed shape structure based on Sagnac interferometer is fabricated and tested in laboratory conditions. To detect external vibrations surface mounted fibers on the latticed steel wire fence with a dimension of 170cm by 180cm is used. To detect external sound frequency the tightened fiber optic itself wire netting fence with a dimension of 50cm by 50cm is used. Experiments for the detection of the excited vibration and sound signals were performed. A small vibrator induced external vibration signal and it is applied to the latticed structure in the range of 100Hz to several kHz. External sound signal applied to the fiber optic sensor net using non-directional sound speaker. The detected optical signals were compared and analyzed to the detected both accelerometer and microphone signals in the time and frequency domain. Based on the experimental results, distributed fiber optic sensor using Sagnac interferometer detected effectively external vibration and sound signal and had a good performance. This system can be expanded to the monitoring of a significant system and to the structural health monitoring system.

Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composite, DFRCC has strain hardening property with multiple crack in failed of compressive, tensile, bending force, concrete is not so that. But DFRCC could not use to the building element for which has not structural stiffness only has ductile property. DFRCC is used for repair only in recently. In that reason, we considered the concrete of light weight concrete, porous concrete, mortar complex with DFRCC. and DFRCC reinforced by fiber net, steel bar. In this study, results of experiment on complex method of concrete and DFRC were shown as follows; The complex methods of concrete lay on DFRCC, sandwich layer composition were effective for bending force depending on section size each layer, and reinforce DFRCC by fiber net, steel bar was effective method also.
Pipelines play an important role in urban water supply and drainage, oil and gas transmission, etc. This paper presents a technique for pattern recognition of fiber optic vibration signals collected by a distributed vibration sensing (DVS) system using a deep learning residual network (ResNet). The optical fiber is laid on the pipeline, and the signal is collected by the DVS system and converted into a 64 × 64 single-channel grayscale image. The grayscale image is input into the ResNet to extract features, and finally the K-nearest-neighbors (KNN) algorithm is used to achieve the classification and recognition of pipeline damage.

In this study, in order to utilize waste fishing net as a building materail, the possibility of replacing the fiber used in polymer repair mortar with waste fishing net fiber was confirmed. As for basic characteristics, flow, compressive strength, and flexural strength tests were performed to compare and analyze fiber performance, and the test results showed performance equal to or better than existing fibers.

To understand the application in farm for the fish aquaculture, we investigated biological and pathological traits on red sea bream Pagrus major which were reared in each copper-alloy net cage and the synthetic fiber net cage for 9 months. Two groups of cage were made and set in Yokji-eup, Tongyoung, Gyeongsangnam-do in size of 25 m in diameter and 10 m of depth. Survival rate of the red sea bream in the rearing copper-alloy net cage and synthetic fiber cage showed 99.75% and 99.70% respectively, there was no significant difference. Daily weight growth rate in each net was shown to 2.13 g/day and 1.65 g/day. Health analysis by blood composition analysis showed a favorable result in the copper-alloy net cage rather than in the synthetic fiber net. Bioaccumulation of heavy metal such as Cu and Zn especially in gonad was higher than other organ. Bioaccumulation of Cu and Zn in the muscle was lower compared to the permitted standard for food safety. Pathogenic infection test discovered Microcotyle tai for parasite, V. alginolyticus and other five species for bacteria. But there was a little bit difference of bacteria infection in copper-alloy net cage and copper-alloy net cage is expected to be has antibacterial effect. Thus, copper-alloy net cage can be applied to farm considering its system stability, recycling, antibiosis and food safety.
Dispersion management (DM) combining with mid-spans spectral inversion (MSSI) is one of the various techniques compensating for the distorted optical signals. For the flexible implementation of this configured link, the compensation characteristics in the optical link with artificial distribution of the gradually ascending and descending of single mode fiber (SMF)'s lengths and residual dispersion per span (RDPS) as the number of fiber spans are assessed as a function of the control positions of net residual dispersion (NRD). It is confirmed that the best compensation is obtained by distributing gradually ascending or descending of SMF's lengths and RDPS capable to place NRD control position at fiber span, in which optical pulse width is most narrow.
A configuration scheme of optical link effectively compensating chromatic dispersion and nonlinear effects accumulated in optical link with single mode fibers (SMFs) is proposed. The proposed optical link configuration consist of optical phase conjugator (OPC) placed at middle of total transmission length and inline dispersion management (DM) as a role of compensating cumulated in each optical repeater of SMF by dispersion compensating fiber (DCF). Net residual dispersion (NRD) of this optical link is designed to be controlled through precompensation and postcompensating. The precompensation and postcompensation are designed to be determined by DCF after transmitter and before receiver, respectively. It is confirmed that optical link configuration with symmetric dispersion map with respect to OPC, which is implemented by controlling NRD through both precompensation and postcompensation, is better to be effective and adaptive than other configuration with NRD controlled by only precompensation or postcompensation.
Dispersion management (DM) is the typical technique compensating for the distorted signals due to interaction of group velocity dispersion (GVD) and optical nonlinear effects for transmitting wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) channel with the excellent performance. Optimal net residual dispersion (NRD) and effective launching power range of optical transmission links with random distribution and artificial distribution of single mode fiber (SMF) length and residual dispersion per span (RDPS) required to flexibly design of optical links in DM. It is confirmed that optimal net residual dispersion (NRD) are +10 ps/nm and -10 ps/nm controlled by precompensation and postcompensation, respectively, in both of the considered distribution patterns of SMF length and RDPS. And, in optimal NRD, system performance in optical links with the descending distribution of SMF length and the ascending distribution of RDPS among the artificial distribution patterns are more improved, consequently, effective launching power range is expanded by almost 2 dB than those in optical links with the uniform distribution.
Fiber optic cables are used extensively for remote monitoring in applications under extreme conditions, such as at high temperatures or in ionizing radiation fields. When high temperature fiber optic cables were subjected to gamma irradiations, there was a significant loss in transmission at wavelengths < 350 nm after only 1 minute of irradiation. Negligible recovery of the fiber optic transmission with time was observed over 2 years, but the irradiation damage was almost completely reversed by high temperature annealing at 400 ℃.
