The purpose of this study is to evaluate the shear strengthening effect of steel fiber in high strength SFRC beams. For this purpose, 13th specimens are prepared and structural tests are performed. Testing variables are shear span to depth ratio, steel fiber volume fraction, shear strengthening ratio in 60 MPa SFRC concrete. From the reviewing of previous researches and analyzing of material and member test results, shear span to depth ratio 2.5 and steel fiber volume fraction 1.0% can be having a maximum strengthening effect in steel fiber. Proposed shear strength estimation equation, which is considering steel fiber strengthening and shear span to depth ratio effect, underestimate the shear capacity of high strength SFRC beams. Therefore a detailed research on strength characteristics of high strength SFRC beams are needed.

This study is to evaluate the ductility strengthening effect of aramid fiber sheets on piloti-type structures. Two piloti-type structure specimens were prepared and tested under statical cyclic lateral loads. The ductility strengthening effect was validated from the analysis of lateral load-displacement relationship, displacement ductility ratio, work damage index and torsion behavior. Test results showed that the post-peak behavior of piloti-type structures with columns strengthened with aramid fiber sheets tended to be ductile resulting from preventing shear failure and minimizing torsion due to the effective lateral confinement of column concrete by aramid fiber sheet. Consequently, the displacement ductility ratio and work damage index of piloti-type structures with columns with strengthened with aramid fiber sheets were 4.63 and 42.81 times higher than those of non strengthened piloti-type structures.

An experimental study was carried out to evaluate the structural performance of new retrofitting technology using high performance carbon fiber bar and strengthening metal fittings. Experimental programs were accomplished to evaluate the structural performance of test specimens, such as load-displacement relationship, crack propagation, ductility, and strain of retrofitting materials etc.. Specimens(BCR2, BCR2-AF1) designed with the new retrofitting technology using high-performance carbon fiber bar and strengthening metal fittings showed much higher load-carrying capacity and ductility compared to specimens(BC1P, BC2P, BS30) designed with the conventional retrofitting method.

The use of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) for torsional strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) single cell box beams has been analyzed considerably by researchers worldwide. However, little attention has been paid to torsional strengthening of multicell box girders in terms of both experimental and numerical research. This paper reports the experimental work in an overall investigation for torsional strengthening of multicell box section RC girders with externally-bonded Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer CFRP strips. Numerical work was carried out using non-linear finite element modeling (FEM). Good agreement in terms of torque-twist behavior, steel and CFRP reinforcement responses, and crack patterns was achieved. The unique failure modes of all the specimens were modeled correctly as well.

Recently the Carbon Fiber Sheet(CFS) is widely used for strengthening damaged RC structures. Strengthening compression members such as column can increase ductility and strength due to the confinement effect. In this experiment, the behavior of concrete cylinders confined by CFS was examined. The confinement pressure is increased linearly as axial stress is increased in low axial stress, and the confinement effect of CFS was rapidly developed after near maximum axial stress, thus axial strength and ductility was improved. As the ratio of CPS is increased, concrete cylinders failed due to local fracture of CFS. The confinement effect of circular section is more efficient than that of rectangular section. And significant improvement of axial strength, axial strain, transverse strain at failure is observed in circular section. This is because in rectangular section the local fracture of CFS near corner may be occured, thus the strain efficiency ratio must be considered for RC structures with CFS.
Fiber-reinforced polymer reinforcement or polyurea reinforcement techniques are applied to strengthen unreinforced masonry walls (UMWs). The out-of-plane reinforcing effect of sprayed glass fiber-reinforced polyurea (GFRPU), which is a composite elastomer made of polyurea and milled glass fibers on UMW, is experimentally verified. The out-of-plane strengths and ductile behaviors based on various coating shapes are compared in this study. An empirical formula to describe the degree of reinforcement on the out-of-plane strength of the UMW is derived based on the experimental results. It is reported that the peak load-carrying capacity, ductility, and energy absorption capacity gradually improve with an increase in the strengthening degree or area. Compared with the existing masonry wall reinforcement method, the GFRPU technique is a construction method that can help improve the safety performance along with ease of construction and economic efficiency.
The main purpose of this study is to develop a sprayed FRP repair and strengthening method, which is a new technique for strengthening the existing concrete structures by mixing one of the carbon or glass chopped fibers and one of the epoxy or vinyl ester resins with high-speed compressed air in open air and randomly spraying the mixture onto the concrete surface. At present, the sprayed FRP repair and strengthening method using the epoxy resin has not been fully discussed. In order to investigate the material property of the sprayed FRP, this study carried out tensile tests of the material specimens, which were changed with the combinations of various variables including the length of chopped fiber and the mixture ratio of chopped fiber and resin. These variables were set to have the equal material strength, compared with that of one layer of the FRP sheet. As a result, the optimal length of glass and carbon chopped fibers was fumed out to be 38 mm, and the optimal mixture ratio between chopped fiber and resin was also turned out to be 1 : 2 from each variable. And also, the thickness of the sprayed FRP to have the equal strength to one layer of the FRP sheet was finally calculated. In is study, a series of experiments were carried out to evaluate the strengthening effects of flexural beams, shear beams and damaged beams strengthened with the sprayed FRP method, respectively. The results revealed that the strengthening effects of the flexural and shear specimens were reasonably similar to those of the FRP sheet, and the developed Sprayed FRP technique is able to be used as a strengthening scheme of existing RC building.

As composite materials, the addition of steel fiber in concrete significantly improves the engineering properties of structural members. The purpose of this study is to define the strengthening effect of steel fiber in a point of material usage. From tile material test. compression strength, tensile splitting strength and flexural strength were evaluated by steel fiber volume fraction ($V_f$) and aspect ratio (AR) of steel fiber. In case of AR 67, $V_f$ 2.0% could be achieved maximum steel fiber strengthening effect. And the AR 80 case, $V_f$ 1.0% could be achieved maximum effect than the effect of $V_f$ 1.5%.

An advanced fiber sheet has been widely used for strengthening of the concrete structures due to its excellent properties such as high strength and light weight. Bond strength is very important in strengthening the concrete structures using an advanced fiber sheet. This research examines the bond behavior between fiber sheet and concrete, investigates the bond strength by the direct pull-out test and the tensile-shear test. To obtain the tensile-shear strength a double-face shear type bond test is conducted. The primary test variables are the types of concrete surface roughness (disk-grinding/chipping) and retrofitting methods (bonding/injection). Thirty specimens were tested to evaluate the bond strength. It is shown that the average bond strength between fiber sheet and concrete by the direct pull-out test and the tensile-shear test is $22.3{\sim}23.1kgf/cm^2$$17.92{\sim}19.75kgf/cm^2$, respectively.

The most recent report by ACI Committee 440 on externally bonded fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthening systems states that systems designed to mechanically anchor FRP should be studied in detail and substantiated by physical testing. To select and design an appropriate anchorage system for use in an FRP strengthening system, it is important that findings from previous research studies be known. This paper presents a comprehensive literature review of the performance of different mechanical anchorage systems used in FRP strengthening applications. Each anchorage system is discussed in terms of its purpose and performance. Advantages and disadvantages of each system are discussed, and areas in need of future research are explored.
