The Application of Steel Fiber Shotcrete in tunneling construction has become part of tunneling practice at least since the 1970s because of its high bending and tensile properties. Over the past 3 decades, researcher from all over the world have been significantly developing the associated technologies for improved performance of SFRS. But still it has some major drawbacks in terms of durability, damage of pumping hose, wastage due to rebound concrete, corrosion and it costs high. To overcome this situation researcher has to look for some alternative material. Therefore, this part study deals with the three types of fiber in order to find good alternative for steel fiber. Polyamide and Polypropylene fiber were used in this study with 0.6, 0.5% mixing ratio. To evaluate its fresh and harden properties air content, slump, compressive, split tensile and bending strength were measured. After comparing the results of all three types of fiber reinforced concrete with its different mixing proportion this study propose that polyamide fiber with addition ratio of 0.6 % for field use.
The contribution of steel fibers on the 28-day compressive strength of high-performance steel fiber reinforced concrete was investigated, is presented. An extensive experimentation was carried out over water-cementitious materials (w/cm) ratios ranging from 0.25 to 0.40, with silica fume-cementitious materials ratios from 0.05 to 0.15, and fiber volume fractions ($V_f$= 0.0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5%) with the aspect ratios of 80 and 53. Based on the test results of 44 concrete mixes, mathematical model was developed using statistical methods to quantify the effect of fiber content on compressive strength of HPSFRC in terms of fiber reinforcing index. The expression, being developed with strength ratios and not with absolute values of strengths, is independent of specimen parameters and is applicable to wide range of w/cm ratios, and used in the mix design of steel fiber reinforced concrete. The estimated strengths are within ${\pm}3.2%$ of the actual values. The model was tested for the strength results of 14 mixes having fiber aspect ratio of 53. On examining the validity of the proposed model, there exists a good correlation between the predicted values and the experimental values of different researchers. Equation is also proposed for the size effect of the concrete specimens.
PURPOSES : This study aims to develop a sealant for use in the installation of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) sensor for asphalt concrete or cement concrete pavements. METHODS : In order to investigate the properties of various sealants that were mixed with latex and carbon fiber, various test methods were adopted, such as bituminous bond strength test, softening point test, and cone penetration test. To evaluate moisture susceptibility, the BBS test was conducted under moist condition. The bond strength ratio (BSR) was calculated based on tensile strength ratio method. RESULTS : The sealant's properties significantly varied according to the amount of latex or carbon fiber. The usage of latex marginally enhanced the cone penetration test result, notwithstanding reduced asphalt content. This implies that the sealant will be proper cold temperature reason. Moreover, the addition of latex and carbon fiber evidently increased the softening point. This indicates that the tendency of the material to flow at elevated temperatures is encountered during service. With the addition of latex and carbon fiber, the moisture susceptibility measured with BSR improved marginally, while the bond strength under dry condition decreased marginally. Sealant F displays the highest bond strength and BSR under limited test conditions. CONCLUSIONS : According to the proportion of latex and carbon fiber mixed, properties of sealant, such as softening point, cone penetration, and BSR varied marginally. This indicates that the sealant has to be applied considering the environmental condition, to improve service life.
Results of seventy-seven specimens tested by this study and previous research were collected and evaluated to propose the flexural strength and shear strength for flexural members with steel fiber concrete. For strength evaluation, structural parameters such as compressive strength, steel fiber content, tensile reinforcement ratio, and shear span to effective depth ratio are involved. The proposed equations for flexural and shear strength are regarded to give a good prediction for the strength of steel fiber reinforced composite and/or RC beams to compare with equations by previous researchers. Especially, the proposed shear strength equation in this study shows the lowest the mean value, the coefficient of variation and the error ratio among predictions by several equations. Therefore, equations for shear strength and flexure strength, which are proposed in this study are to be useful measure to predict the actual behavior and failure mode of steel fiber reinforced composite beams.
The effects of the filler shapes and contents on the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) for polypropylene (PP) composites which included three dimensional ellipsoids ($a_1>a_2>a_3$), as determined by two aspect ratios (${\rho}_\alpha=a_1/a_3$ and ${\rho}_\beta=a_1/a_2$) were analyzed by the theoretical approach proposed by Lee and Paul and compared with the experimental results. The shapes of fillers in the composites were various, such as spherical, fiber, disc, and ellipsoid, using barium sulfate, glass fiber, and mica. The longitudinal CTE of barium sulfate whose shape was sphere ($\rho_\alpha=\rho_\beta=1$) decreased. For the glass fiber, primary aspect ratio decreased with the filler content, and longitudinal CTE decreased as filler contents increased. Normal CTE initially increased in the lower filler content. For the mica, longitudinal and transverse CTE decreased but normal CTE increased in the lower filler content like predicted values.

This findings should be applicable to nutritional education and medical food for constipation.
This study examined biochemical components, fatty acids, antioxidant dipeptides, and muscle fiber density of breast and thigh muscles from Korean new native chicken strains (A and B) at two slaughter ages, compared with white semi-broiler (W) or broilers. The pH values were different by chicken breed. The new native strains had the lowest fat content in the breast at 12 wk (p<0.05). Regardless of the muscles, A and B at 12 wk had higher levels of arachidonic acid (ARA; C20:4), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA; C22:6), and nervonic acid (C24:1) than broilers (p<0.05). A similar result was observed for the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and polyunsaturated and saturated fatty acids ratio (P/S) content in the breast. Irrespective of the muscles, A and B enriched with omega-3 fatty acids had a lower ω-6/ω-3 PUFA ratio than broilers (p<0.05) at 12 wk. Of the antioxidant di-peptides, the anserine contents were highest in A and B than in the W or broilers (p<0.05), regardless of the muscles and slaughter ages. Furthermore, the breast meat from A and B contained a higher muscle fiber density for both slaughter ages than the W and broilers (p<0.05). Based on these findings, even if the commercial birds (broilers or W) are raised under the similar environmental conditions as A and B, the new native chicken strains have distinct meat quality attributes, particularly higher ARA and DHA levels, lower ω-6/ω-3 PUFA ratio, and higher anserine contents.

Fast infrastructure development boosts the demand for shotcrete. Despite sand and stone being the most common coarse and fine aggregates for shotcrete, excessive exploration of these materials challenges the ecological environment. This study utilized an industrial solid waste, high-titanium heavy slag, blended with steel fibers to form Wet Shotcrete of Steel Fiber-reinforced High-Titanium Heavy Slag (WSSFHTHS). It investigated its workability, shotcrete performance and mechanical properties under different water-to-cement ratios, fly ash content, superplasticizer dosage, and steel fiber content. The tunnel excavation and support were investigated by conducting finite element numerical simulation analysis and was used in 3 tunnel lining pipes in Zhonggouwan tailing pond. The major findings are as follows: (1) The water-to-cement ratio (w/c ratio) significantly impacted the compressive strength of WSSFHTHS. The highest 28-day compressive strength of 60 MPa was achieved when the w/c ratio was 0.38; (2) Adding fly ash improved the workability and shotcrete performance and strength development of WSSFHTHS. The best anti-permeability performance was achieved when the fly ash constituted 15%, with the lowest permeability coefficient of 4.596 × 10-11 cm/s; (3) The optimum superplasticizer dosage for WSSFHTHS is 0.8%. It provided the best workability and shotcrete performance. Excessive dosage resulted in water bleeding and poor aggregate encapsulation, while insufficient dosage decreased flowability and adversely affected shotcrete performance; (4) The dosage of steel fibers significantly impacted the flexural and tensile strength of WSSFHTHS. When the steel fiber dosage was 45 kg/m3, the 28-day flexural and tensile strengths were 8.95 MPa and 6.15 MPa, respectively; (5) By integrating existing shotcrete techniques, the optimal lining thickness was 80 mm for WSSFHTHS per simulation. The results revealed that after using WSSFHTHS, the displacement of the tunnel surrounding the rock significantly improved, with no cracks or hollows, similar to the simulation results.
PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the physical properties of recycled asphalt mixtures reinforced with glass fiber. METHODS : Firstly, mixing design was conducted on recycled asphalt mixture for use of 50% recycled aggregate. Various laboratory tests were performed on four types of recycled asphalt mixtures with different glass fiber content to evaluate the physical properties. The laboratory tests include indirect tensile strength test, dynamic modulus test, Hamburg wheel tracking test and tensile-strength ratio to evaluate cracks, rutting and moisture resistance of mixtures. RESULTS : The indirect tensile strength of fiber reinforced glass increased about 139.4%. As a result of comparing the master curves obtained by the dynamic modulus test, the elasticity was low in the low temperature region and high in the high temperature region when the glass fiber was reinforced. The glass fiber contents of PEGS 0.3%, Micro PPGF 0.1% and Macro PPGF 0.3% showed the highest moisture resistance and rutting resistance. CONCLUSIONS : The test results show that use of glass fiber reinforcement can increase the resistance to cracking, rutting, and moisture damage of asphalt mixtures. It is also necessary to validate the long-term performance of recycled asphalt mixtures with glass fiber using full scale pavement testing and field trial construction.
Soluble keratose(S-keratose) could be obtained by oxidizing the wool keratin with performic acid. S-keratose/PVA solutions were made by dissolving them in the formic acid and S-keratose/PVA web of sub-micron size was made by electro-spinning technique. SEM, elemental analysis, FT-IR, X-ray diffractometry, and TGA were used to characterize the properties of S-keratose/PVA solutions and fibers. As the S-keratose content in S-keratose/PVA solution increased, viscosity of solution decreased while electrical conductivity has increased. The fiber diameter has decreased with increasing the S-keratose content. S-keratose/PVA ratio in fibers were similar to the ratio in the solutions. The crystalline structures of S-keratose and PVA existed separately in the electrospun webs. Thermal stability of the web increased with the PVA content increasing.
