Recycling of Spent Dry Batteries for Deflection Yoke Core Applications

  • Nomura Kohsan Corp. is producing oxides, such as ZnMn$_2$O$_4$, ZnFe$_2$O$_4$, and ZnO, by burning the used dry manganese cells and by sorting out the remnant materials. It is possible to use the recycled materials of the spent dry batteries as the raw materials of deflection yoke cores. Making hish roasting temperature in the recycling system has an effect in reduction of the impurities. As a result, the loss of the cores using the recycled materials is lower. When using the recycled materials, it is required to add Mg (OH)$_2$. ZnO, and Fe$_2$O$_3$in order to rectify the composition of the MnMgZn ferrite for deflection yoke core applications. Furthermore, in order to disappear ZnMn$_2$O$_4$in the formation, it is necessary to control at higher calcining temperatures. The MnMgZn ferrite of using the recycled materials becomes Toss equivalent to the conventional material. TDK Corp. is manufacturing the deflection yoke cores from 1996 using the material recycled from the spent dry batteries.

  • Color Display Tube (CDT) used in computer monitors, consists of many components. Deflection Yoke(DY) among them supplies the vertical and horizontal magnetic fields so that the spatial trajectories of electron beams are deflected according to the synchronization signals. If the magnetic fields are not correctly formed, there will be color blurring or blooming by a mis-convergence of each beam and the color image on screen may not be clear. Therefore, in the manufacture of DY. its quality is strictly examined to get the desired convergence and the occurred mis-convergence can be cured by sticking ferrite sheets on the inner part of DY. However, because it needs expert's knowledge and experience to find the proper position of the sheet, this article introduces an intelligent controller that the knowledge-base represented by a neuro-fuzzy model is used to find the optimal position of the ferrite sheet for the convergence.

  • This paper deals with the problem of the magnetizing yoke fixture. The experimental test has been performed using the yoke fixture made of bakelite as well as ferromagnetic. The magnetizing current is the most essential criterial factor for delivering the impulse energy to the magnetized material, i.e ferrite core. The yoke of nonferromagnetic has shown its better performance in experimental results as well as in the finite element analysis.

  • 본 논문에서는 페라이트자석을 사용하고 있는 BLDC 전동기를 희토류 자석을 사용하는 전동기로의 설계를 다루고 있다. 최근 전기기기가 소형 경량화 됨에 따라 자석 성능이 우수한 희토류 자석을 이용한 전동기가 많이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 전기제품 메이커들은 기존의 설계를 유지하려는 경향이 있다. 본 연구에서는 전기기기에 취부되는 전동기의 외형을 그대로 하고 내부의 설계만 희토류 자석으로 변경하는 설계를 한다. 설계를 간단히 하기 위해 유한 요소법의 상용 패키지를 반복적으로 사용하였고 코깅 토오크를 줄이기 위해 고정자 요크와 고정자 단의 그루브를 설계하였다.

  • We have developed the three-dimensional simulation tool for the design of deflection yoke. This tool consists of a modeler, a solver and a post-processor. The modeler easily makes models of Deflection Yoke (DY) and ferrite core (Circle, RAC and RTC) by the parameters and supports several element types (line, surface and quadrilateral). The solver calculates charge density and magnetic field of DY by boundary element method (BEM). We can simply evaluate misconvergence, distortion and inductance of DY in the post-processor, so we apply this simulation tool to 32" rectangular deflection yoke. We can conveniently implement the efficient development of DY in the future.

  • 본 논문에서는 컬러 모니터용 전자관(CDT; Color Display Tube)의 편향 요크(DY; Deflection Yoke)의 제조 공정상 오차가 발생시키는 컨버전스의 오차를 보정하기 위하여 붙이는 페라이트 박판(Ferrite Sheet)의 위치를 결정하는 규칙을 생성하는 박판을 붙여야 하는지 판단한다. 이를 러프 집합 이론을 이용하여 컨버전스 값을 조건부 속성으로, 페라이트 박판의 위치를 판단부 속성으로 하여 판단 테이블을 만들고 이때 발생하는 몇 가지 문제를 해결하여 최소화된 규칙을 찾아내는 방안을 제안한다.

규소강판을 이용한 실드케이스의 차폐효과 (A Study on Shield Effect of Shield Case using SiFe Sheet)

  • The shield effect of 4 layered shield case was investigated in this paper. The material of the case was non-oriented SiFe sheet with a thickness of 0.5mm. The size of the case was 100mm wide, 100mm high and 300mm long. Relative permeability of SiFe sheet was needed to calculate shield effect. It was obtained from the measurement by a ferrite yoke and from the calculation by eddy current FEM analysis. Three configurations were used to connect both ends of SiFe sheet. First one is a connection by double-welded butt. Second one is to put the sheet the same material above the confronted both ends of the sheet to avoid a leakage magnetic flux. The last one is ideally without any connection. The shield effect of the second one agreed well with the last one and showed the shield effect of -40dB.

  • The characteristics of magnetizing system considering the anisotropy and the nonlinearity are analyrized using PEM in This paper. The case of magnetizing the ferrite magnet with 12 poles is analyrized. The anisotropy characteristic is considered when ferrite magnet which is widely used as permanent magnet is magnetized. The Nonlinear characteristic of magnetizing yoke aid ferrite is considered because the current is in the saturation region. When the magnetizing current value is over the optimum value, the magnet is magnetized with 24 poles. This is not the case of our expectation. Thus, for the case of our expected magnetizing form, it is the conclusion that the optimum magnetizing current value is selected.

Integer Programming Approach to the Convergence Adjustment on Color Display Tube

  • In this paper, we consider the adjustment of convergence on Color Display Tube (CDT). Convergence is a measure of how well the red, green and blue beams are physically aligned with each other to strike the same area on the screen. When misconvergence (convergence error) occurs, one way of compensating it is to attach several ferrite sheets on the inner part of Deflection Yoke (DY). We suggest an optimization model of misconvergence compensation process and report test results for 81 DY samples. As a result, more than 90% of the samples could be made to satisfy the required convergence criteria.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 고품위 TV 및 고정세도 디스플레이용으로 화상의 정세도를 향상시키기 위해 수평주파수를 높이려는 움직임이 있어, 편향 요크용 페라이트 코아에는 고주파수 영역에 있어서도 코아로스가 낮은 재료가 요구되고 있는 실정이다. Mg-Zn 페라이트에 있어서 화학조성 및 프로세스가 미세구조에 미치는 영향에 착안하여 저온 소결화를 하였다. 저손실인 Mg-Zn계 Ferrite에 Cu를 첨가하였다. MgO, ZnO, $Fe_2$$O_3$, CuO를 선택한 후 조성비의 변화를 두며 CuO를 MgO로 치환하였다. 이 시료를 $980∼1350^{\circ}C$까지 3시간 소결하였다. 측정은 투자율, 전력손실, 수축율, 코아로스를 측정하였다. 시료의 수축율을 개시하는 온도는 $900^{\circ}C$부근이며 Cu치환에 따라 수축율이 증가하였으며, Cu 치환에 따라 소성온도가 약 $-50∼-75^{\circ}C$ 낮아졌다.
