Extensive disease surveys performed during the summers of 2013 and 2014 in Schisandra chinensis orchards resulted in the finding of a Septobasidium sp. associated with felt disease. The fungus was characterized to be symbiotic with a scale insect (Pseudaulacaspis cockerelli). Morphological and molecular characteristics of the Septobasidium isolates were investigated. The isolates were morphologically and phylogenetically close to S. bogoriense. We tentatively describe this isolate as a Septobasidium sp., mainly because of the limited amount of information available on the internal transcribed spacer region of the ribosomal DNA of Septobasidium spp.
Objectives : This study was conducted to evaluated the subjective oral health state related periodontal disease of elderly people. Methods : Data were collected through the National Health and Nutrition Survey in 2005. Participants consisted of 1,091 elderly people above 65 years old. Independent variables in the survey were social characteristic, health behavior, oral health condition, oral health management. The data were analyzed by using the SPSS 12.0. Results : The more elderly people of 69.0% recognized own oral health as is not healthy, elderly people of 74.0% recognized own oral health as is not healthy about subjective oral health and a lot of stressed(82.8%) has felt highly about periodontal disease(p<0.001). Respondents of have a sound teeth(58.9%), have a lower denture(75.0%) and have a no problem in mastication(74.5%) has felt highly about periodontal disease(p<0.001). Elderly people recognized own oral health as is not healthy about subjective oral health were 0.316 times(p<0.01), elderly people recognized own oral health as is common healthy about subjective oral health were 0.241 times(p<0.001), a lot of stressed were 1.410 times has felt highly about periodontal disease. Elderly people of have a lower denture were 1.159 times, have a upper denture were 1.159 times, have a lower and upper denture were 0.464 times has felt highly about periodontal disease(p<0.05). Also respondents of have a no problem in mastication were 7.464 times compared with problem in mastication(p<0.001). Conclusions : Quality of life from disease of Korean elderly people can be fallen, and improve quality of life that medical treatment is healthy numerical value state numerical value state. Study's findings of above may be used to inform the importance of health numerical value state while establish dental health policy that is string.
The purpose of this study was to examine how much knowledge dental-hygiene students had about AIDS and how they looked at that. The subjects in this study were 370 freshmen, sophomores and juniors who were majoring in dental hygiene. The findings of this study were as follows : The rate of the students who were accurately aware of AIDS dissemination ranged from 59 to 92 percent. Those who knew that the disease didn't spread through routine daily contacts stood at 63 to 91 percent, and the students who were correctly cognizant of the cause of AIDS numbered 41 to 77 percent. Those who grasped the seriousness of that disease stood at 45 to 83 percent. The students weren't properly aware of how to prevent AIDS, as just 33 to 68 percent knew about that. Concerning connections between school year and AIDS knowledge, the sophomores had a better knowledge on its dissemination, cause and AIDS itself than the freshmen and juniors. As for attitude toward AIDS, 72.4 percent considered themselves not to be susceptible to that disease, but 361 percent felt that they were likely to develop it. 44.6 percent weren't afraid of being attacked by that disease, but more students feared about that possibility. Most of the students, who ranged from 77 to 88 percent, hoped to continue to be educated about that, and as many as 92 percent believed that AIDS patients should separatedly be treated. A lot of the students, which accounted for 90 percent, felt fear in the course of treatment, but 44 percent believed that AIDS patients should equally be treated, which indicated that they had a sense of responsibility. As to the relationship of school year to altitude toward AIDS, when their ideas about the danger of AIDS were asked, the freshmen and juniors considered themselves not to be susceptible to that disease more than the sophomores did, and the former group felt, more than the latter, that AIDS infection should be more thoroughly prevented than hepatitis in dental clinic. The juniors had a stronger tendency to find themselves to be exposed to AIDS as equally as most other people, compared to the freshmen and sophomores. The sophomores felt higher need for AIDS - related education, and had a stronger sense of duty about treating AIDS patients, and were more apprehensive of the disease in the course of treatment than the freshmen and juniors did. The above-mentioned findings suggested thai every individual should be cautious not to develop AIDS, as there is still no workable vaccine. Since the nation is not free from the horrible disease, the government should put more efforts into researching and preventing it. But what's most important is that dental-hygiene students, who will be committed to dental treatment in the future, should precisely be cognizant of the seriousness of that disease, and try to stay away from it by using protective devices and handling dental supplies properly. And the type of treatment system thai could prevent AIDS infection should be established.
Congenital heart disease is the most frequently shown congenital disease among children, most of them can be corrected with operation. However, Patients and their parents need nursing intervention when they face this risky incident of operation. Therefore, parents' experiences are absolutely needed to plan nursing intervention to give practical help to the patients and their parents. The purpose of this study is to provide basic resources to develop a feasible intervention program for the parents by understanding the experiences related to the informed consent of cardiac surgery of their child. From January to June 2003, 10 parents of children patients with congenital heart disease were interviewed who filled out Operation Agreement before the primary operation after they are diagnosed as congenital heart disease in pediatric chest surgery of A hospital in Seoul. They were asked to give opinion regarding pre-operation needs and the interviewed information was analyzed. The results of this study are as follows : Firstly, they were asked what they felt before they were told about the operation of their children from the doctor before filling out the informed consent of operation. They felt 1) vague, 2) confusion of choose, 3) risky, 4) resented, 5) uneasy, 6) guilty, and 7) the burden of operation. Secondly, they were asked what they felt after they filled out the informed consent of operation and the doctor gave them detailed information on the operation of their children. They felt 1) confused, 2) responsible, 3) rejected, 4) angry, 5) plain, 6) to have hope, 7) trying to trust medical people, 8) that consolation is needed, and 9) conditional reduction of the burden of operation. Thirdly, followings are the categories of congenital parents' demand before operation based on the analysis of experiences related to the preparation of the informed consent of operation. 1) Information Demand (1) Anticipatory information (2) Concrete and precise information (3) Individual information 2) Support (1) Empathy (2) Parental supporting (3) Support of parents in the same situation 3) Education and consulting (1) Children-oriented Education (2) Consultation Considering the results of this study, parents of the child with congenital heart disease seem to have various emotional experiences related to filling out the informed consent and they need concrete and practical helps before cardiac surgery. This study proposes that systematic nursing intervention is needed according to the needs of the parents who have the child with congenital heart disease before operation in the field of child health nursing.
This study to find out the causes and degree of anxiety experienced by hospitalized patients, with the objective of instituting improvement of Nursing care program based on the needs of patients. The present study was carry out from July 1 , 1975 to October 10, 1975 with 168 patients random sampling from those admitted of Kyung Hee Medical Center. The Questionnaire form included 47 questions which are considered to be anxiety events for admitted patients and was divided into four areas namely, such events related to 1) hospital environment, 2) Psychology and emotion, 3) Nursing care and treatment, and 4 )Education. The results of the study were as follows : 1) Most of the respondents (70.09%) felt uneasy about their disease affected by the behaviors of medical personnel. 2) Regarding the correlation between anxiety felt by patients and their educational level. Only 9 sub- items of 47 items showed significant difference. 3) There was revealed no particular significance in the correlation between anxiety felt by patients and period of hospitalization. 4) Only 5 sub- items out of 47 items showed significant difference ill the correlation between anxiety felt by patients and previous experience of operation. 5) Only 3 sub-items out of 47 items showed signigicant difference in the correlation between anxiety felt day patients and previous experience of hospitalization. 6) Regarding the extent of anxiety felt by patients, "insufficient explanation about meals" showed the highest score followed. "The visit of physicians and Nurses to the patient is too frequent " showed the lowest score and "Nurses change too frequently the physical posture of patients" followed.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that is the second most common disorder after Alzheimer's disease. PD includes both "motor" and "non-motor" symptoms, one of which is pain. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of pain in patients with PD. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 250 patients diagnosed with PD, 70% of which had mild to moderate PD (stages 2/3 of Hoehn and Yahr scale). The average age was 67.4 years, and the average duration since PD diagnosis was 7.1 years. Relevant data collected from PD patients were obtained from their personal medical history. Results: The prevalence of pain was found to be high (82%), with most patients (79.2%) relating their pain to PD. Disease duration was correlated with the frequency of intense pain (R: 0.393; P < 0.05). PD pain is most frequently perceived as an electrical current (64%), and two pain varieties were most prevalent (2.60 ± 0.63). Our findings confirm links between pain, its evolution over time, its multi-modal character, the wide variety of symptoms of PD, and the female sex. Conclusions: Our results demonstrated that the pain felt by PD patients is mainly felt as an electrical current, which contrasts with other studies where the pain is described as burning and itching. Our classification is innovative because it is based on anatomy, whereas those of other authors were based on syndromes.
Purpose: This study investigated the need for information and social support in parents of children with epilepsy. Method: A total of 119 parents of children with epilepsy were recruited and asked to fill out questionnaires. Result: Of 119 parents, two-third reported that they received full and sufficient information about their child's disease and its management but one-third felt the information was insufficient and incomplete. Most parents (62.2%) felt at loss when their child had a seizure, either at home or at school. They wanted information on the causes of seizures, adequate steps deal with seizure and steps they should take to become adequate and supportive parents for their children. However, most parents were reluctant to disclose the disease or to receive support from outsiders. Conclusion: Regardless of the fact that most parents received sufficient information about the management of epilepsy, they felt at a loss when their child had a seizure attack. Therefore nurses should give specific instruction on seizure management and assess the needs of parents on a regular basis.
Between 1973 and 1981 a total of 38 patients with a adult Patent Ductus Arteriosus, resulting from a congenital heart disease. There were 10 males and 28 females and most were in their twenties. In 21 cases, typical Patent Ductus Arteriosus without pulmonary hypertension and in 17, atypical Patent Ductus Arteriosus with pulmonary hypertension were noted. Methods of surgical treatment were division, double ligation, triple ligation, or wrapping with Teflon felt and ligation. The number of patients for each surgical treatment were 23 cases with double ligation, 4 cases with triple ligation, 3 cases of wrapping with Teflon felt and ligation and 8 cases with division. Surgical mortality occurred in one case[2.6%].

As with land crops, cultivated algae are affected by various diseases ranging from large outbreaks of a disease to chronic epiphytes, which may downgrade the value of the final product. The recent development of intensive and dense mariculture practices has enabled some new diseases to spread much faster than before. A new disease is reported almost every year, and the impact of diseases is expected to increase with environmental change, such as global warming. We observed the incidence of diseases in two Pyropia sea farms in Korea from 2011 to 2014, and estimated the economic loss caused by each disease. Serious damage is caused by the oomycete pathogens, Pythium porphyrae and Olpidiopsis spp., which decreased the productivity of the Pyropia sea farms. In Seocheon sea farms, an outbreak of Olpidiopsis spp. disease resulted in approximately US $1.6 million in loss, representing approximately 24.5% of total sales during the 2012-2013 season. The damage caused by green-spot disease was almost as serious as oomycete diseases. An outbreak of green-spot disease in the Seocheon sea farms resulted in approximately US $1.1 million in loss, representing 10.7% of total sales in the 2013-2014 season in this area. However, the causative agent of green-spot disease is still not confirmed. "Diatom felt" is regarded as a minor nuisance that does not cause serious damage in Pyropia; however, our case study showed that the economic loss caused by "diatom felt" might be as serious as that of oomycete diseases. Bacteria and cyanobacteria are indigenous members of epiphytic microbial community on Pyropia blades, but can become opportunistic pathogens under suitable environmental conditions, especially when Pyropia suffers from other diseases. A regular acid wash of the Pyropia cultivation nets is the most common treatment for all of the above mentioned diseases, and represents approximately 30% of the total cost in Pyropia sea farming. However, the acid wash is ineffective for some diseases, especially for Olpidiopsis and bacterial diseases.
