This study was directed to further clarify the effect of resting time or dietary condition for the improvement of exercise capacity and physical fitness, and the changes of some body consitiuents and physiological functions which are related to the exercise metabolism. Sixteen male students(8 athletes and 8 nonathletes)were participated during 3 weeks(Aug. 20-Sep.9, 1989). Each subject performed two treadmill running trials at an absolute intensity (1 mintute in 3.4mph/15% slope and 2 minutes in 5.5mph/20% slope). In the resting time trials, general diet was fed before 1, 2, 4 and 12 hours of the treadmill exercise loaded. in the dietary condition trials, high carbohydrate(HC), high fat(HF) and high protein(HP) diet were fed before 2 hours of the treadmill exercise loaded. Control trial was that of resting time before treadmill exercise loaded after 12 hours of general diet feeding. Measurement were made to study the change of blood glucose, palmitate, lactate, blood pressure and heart rate. The results obtained are summarized as follows: Mean daily metabolizable period. In resting time trial, the blood glucose concentration of athlete and nonathlete from 2 hours group was similar to control group. The blood palmitate concentration of athlete was increased in 1 and 2 hours group but those of nonathlete was not only increased in 1 and2 hours group but was more increased in 12 hours group, compared with both control group. The blood lactate concentration was increased in all experimental group, compared with both control group and those of nonathlete was much higher than athlets. The elevation rate of blood pressure in pre-and after-exercise of athlete was lower than those of nonathlete. In dietary composition trial, the blood glucose concentration of athlete and nonathlete in HC group was higher than other diet groups. The blood lactate concentration of athlete and nonathlete in HC group was lower than other diet groups. There was no remarkable change of the blood palmitate concentration and heart rate in each dietary composition trial, but those of nonathlete was low in HC and high in HP group. In above results, it was suggested that the effective condition of resting time and dietary composition for the improvement of exercise capacity of nonathlete may be 2 hours and HC diet, respectively. But it was showed that the exercise capacity of athlete may not be affected by experimental condition of resting time, except 1 hour after feeding or of dietary composition because of well adaptation in new exercise condition.
Objectives: The principal purpose of this study is to statistically compare dust levels among farmers with and without feeding in a nursery pig building. Methods: Total dust and respirable dust were measured by personal sampling method, and TSP and PM10 were monitored by the direct recording method in the pig building. Results: IIn the personal samples, mean exposure levels of total and respirable dust were higher among the farmers who conducted feeding compared to farmers who did not. A significant difference between farmers with feeding and farmers without feeding was found in total dust concentration(p<0.05), whereas there was no significant difference in respirable dust concentrations. In real-time monitoring of dust based on area sampling, the highest levels of total and respirable dust were detected in the feeding time periods; $4.33{\pm}2.57mg/m^3$ for TSP and $2.53{\pm}1.02mg/m^3$ for PM10, respectively. During time periods without feeding, the levels of total and respirable dust ranged from 1 to $2mg/m^3$ and from 0.5 to $1.5mg/m^3$, respectively. Conclusions: In terms of association of feeding work and air sampling location, the mean concentrations of total and respirable dust were highest in area sampling with feeding and lowest in personal sampling without feeding. However, a significant difference among groups investigated according to air sampling condition was found in total dust.
To survey the most feeding frequence of formulated diet as food for cultured puffer in winter season, we performed a rearing test using juveniles of river puffer, Takifugu obscurus (body weight 15.0 g) for 120 days. The feeding frequencies were set up as 2times/1day, 2times/2days, 2times/3days and 2times/4days. We tested triplicately the experiment and investigated survival rate, daily food intake (DFI), feed efficiency (FE), condition factor (CF), daily growth rate (DGR). Consequently, growth was increased following to an increasing of feeding frequency, was the fast in 2times/1day of feeding frequency, and was the slowest in 2times/4days (p<0.05). DFI and CF were increased following to an decreasing of feeding frequency and was the highest in 2times/4days of feeding frequency. FE was decreased following to an decreasing of feeding frequency, and was the highest in 2times/1day of feeding frequency. In a proximate carcass composition at the final day, moisture and crude lipid contents were the lowest in 2times/4days, and in survival, there was not any significant difference among experimental groups. Therefore, we concluded that the 2times/2days are the best of feeding frequency for economical benefit of river puffer culture in winter season.
The process of breast feeding was investigated from the 36th week of pregnancy to 12 weeks postnatal, in order to analyze the factors affecting breast feeding duration and provide the basic data on an education program for successful breast feeding. The general characteristics of study group had no marked effects on the breastfeeding duration. The young and highly condition during pregnancy and the degree of morning sickness affected the practice of breastfeeding. In the study of prenatal sociobehavioral factors, intended duration affected the breastfeeding duration, and the maternal perception that breastfeeding is good for weight loss after delivery as well as infant formula milk is not as good as breast milk, led to successful breast feeding. Among the postnatal biological factors, the duration of gestation affected the breast feeding. Among the postnatal biological factors, the duration of gestation affected the breastiffeding outcome. In the case of early parturition, breastfeeding rate was low. Among the postnatal biocultural factors, time of first feed, milk volume and maternal perception of infant's sucking ability affected the bresatfeeding duration. From these result, it is suggested that an education program such as participation of nursing class to the pregnant women should be provided for successful breastfeeding.
It was attempted to improve the wear resistance of Al alloy under the load condition by making a formation of the thicker surface hardening alloy layers. The thicker surface hardening alloy layers were formed on 6061 Al alloys overlayed by MIG and TIG welding process with Cu powders feeding. The characteristics of hardening and wear resistance have been investigated in relation to the microstructures of alloyed layers, with a selection of optimum alloying conditions for formation of overlaying layer. The results obtained were summarized as follows With increasing feeding rate of Cu powders by MIG welding, the hardness and specific wear of the overlay weld alloys were increased. It is considered that these high hardness and specific wear of overlay weld alloys were due to the formation of Θ($Al_2Cu$) phases. With increasing feeding rate of Cu powders by TIG welding, the hardness and specific wear of the overlay weld alloys were increased in feeding rates 12 and 18g/min. However, the hardness and specific wear were decreased in the powder feeding rate 38g/min. It is considered that considered that decrease of hardness and specific wear in the powder feeding rate 38g/min due to formation of ${\gamma}$($Al_4Cu_9$) phases.
The performance of oxygen combustion with $CO_2$ feeding was investigated in a pyrex tube furnace. The inverse type multi-hole burner was used for improving mixing and wide operating range. It introduced oxygen, fuel, and oxygen, respectively, from center tube to outer tubes. Oxygen combustion characteristics with excess oxygen ratio, oxygen feeding ratio, and $CO_2$ feeding flow rate were studied to optimize the operating condition and to apply the oxygen combustion with recirculation of flue gas to a real furnace. This paper presents results on the effect of $CO_2$ feeding flow rate on the structure of the flames and concentrations of NO and CO emissions. The visible flame length was shortest due to well mixing between fuel and oxygen when the oxygen feeding ratio was 0.25. The NO emission was reduced drastically regardless of excess oxygen ratio when the $CO_2$ feeding flow rate was larger than 15 lpm. The CO emission is varied by changing the $CO_2$ feeding flow rate but the CO emission characteristics is highly affected by excess oxygen ratio. When the excess oxygen ratio is below $\lambda=1.1$, the CO emission increased as the $CO_2$ feeding flow rate increased.

Food consumption and conversion efficiency of new bivoltine hybrids (CSR2$\times$CSR4 and CSR2$\times$CSR5) were studied under restricted feeding levels (10, 20 and 30% less quantity of mulberry leaves). The data were compared with a control fed with standard quantum of feed as per the recommendation. The nutritional indices parameters i. e. ingests, digesta, approximate digestibility (%) and reference ratio were recorded higher in control batches compared to less feed batches while nutritional efficiency parameters i. e., ECI and ECD to cocoon and shell were recorded significantly higher in restricted feeding level batches. This increase is attributed due to the physiological adaptation under nutritional stress condition.
Butterflies have been known to suck viscous liquids through a long, cylindrical proboscis using the large pressure difference formulated by the cyclic expansion and contraction of a muscular pump located inside their head. However, there are few studies on the liquid-feeding phenomena in a live butterfly, because it is hard to observe the internal morphological structures under in vivo condition. In this study, the dynamic motion of the pump system in a butterfly was in vivo visualized using synchrotron X-ray micro-imaging technique to analyze the liquid-feeding mechanism. The period of the liquid-feeding process is about 0.3sec. The expansion stage is about two times larger than the contraction stage in one cycle. The cyclic variation of pump volume generate large negative suction pressure and the pressure difference inside the long proboscis of a butterfly is estimated to be larger than 1atm.
