  • The objective of this study is to investigate proper cutting conditions of cellulose acetate(CA) for eyewear frames. Various cutting experiments with variation of spindle speeds and feed rates are conducted to evaluate the machinability of CA. The machinability of CA materials were discussed in terms of the cutting forces, surface roughnesses and chip formations. The cutting conditions of high spindle speeds and the feed per tooth of less than 0.05mm are recommended considering the surface roughnesses and chip formations. Also, the correlation between the surface roughness and the chip formation is investigated. These results are able to be applied to design the high-speed machine tool of CA frame.

  • Recently, possibility of low protein diet with high energy level for improvement of fish production has been proposed in several fish species, especially under restricted feeding rate, fish responded better on high energy diet than low energy diet McGoogan and Gatlin (1999) stressed another benefit of low protein diet with high energy for fish production, in terms of reduction of nitrogen waste from fish metabolism However, others reported no effect of high lipid in feed on performance of fish (Jover et al. 1999). This was probably because that energy availability o requirement for fish varied based on fish species, protein content or quality in feed, rearing water temperature condition and feeding ration. • The continuous chip in turning operation deteriorates the precision of workpiece and can cause a hazardous condition to operator. Thus the chip form control becomes a very important task for reliable turning process. Using the difference of energy radiated from the chip, the chip form is identified using the neural network of supervised data. The feed mechanism is adjusted in order to break continuous chip according to the result of the chip form recognition and shows a good approach for precision turning operation.

  • A genetic algorithm was applied to an arc welding process to determine near optimal settings of welding process parameters which produce good weld quality. This method searches for optimal settings of welding parameters through systematic experiments without a model between input and output variables. It has an advantage of being able to find optimal conditions with a fewer number of experiments than conventional full factorial design. A genetic algorithm was applied to optimization of weld bead geometry. In the optimization problem, the input variables was wire feed rate, welding voltage, and welding speed and the output variables were bead height, bead width, and penetration. The number of level for each input variable is 16, 16, and 8, respectively. Therefore, according to the conventional full factorial design, in order to find the optimal welding conditions, 2048 experiments must be performed. The genetic algorithm, however, found the near optimal welding conditions from less than 40 experiments.

  • Because land based aquaculture is restricted by high investment per rearing volume and control cost, good management planning is important in Land-based aquaculture system case. In this paper master production planning was made to decide the number of rearing, production schedule and efficient allocation of water resources considering biological and economic condition. The purpose of this article is to build the mathematical decision making model that finds the value of decision variable to maximize profit under the constraints. Stocking and harvesting decisions that are made by master production planning are affected by the price system, feed cost, labour cost, power cost and investment cost. To solve the proposed mathematical model, heuristic search algorithm is proposed. The model Input variables are (1) the fish price (2) the fish growth rate (3) critical standing corp (4) labour cost (5) power cost (6) feed coefficient (7) fixed cost. The model outputs are (1) number of rearing fish (2) sales price (3) efficient allocation of water pool.

  • This paper shows that the identified and unidentified components of surface roughness in NC turning lathe which can not be analyzed in time domain such as $R_{max},\;R_a$ can be isolated in frequency domain by FFT analyzer. By interfacing FFT analyzer with stylus surface roughness instrument, surface roughness on change of working condition, especially tool feed, such as 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3(mm/rev) can be analyzed in frequency domain as follows. 1. By frequency analysis of surface roughness profile, the basic wave length of surface roughness can be obtained to isolate the identified and unidentified components of surface roughness. 2. With increase of tool feed, the unidentified components of surface roughness increase. 3. Since $R_{max}$, which can be obtained by stylus surface roughness is proportion to the output voltage of FFT analyzer, FFT analyzer also can be used to measure surface roughness in time domain such $R_a,\;R_{max}$.

  • To investigate the effects of growth and body composition of spotted sea bass (Lateolabrix sp.) by the supplemented dimethyl-$\beta$-propiothetin(DMPT). fish was fed the diets each containing 3 mM, 5 mM, 7 mM and 10 mM for eight weeks. The weight gain, feed efficiency and feed intake were significantly increased with dietary DMPT level. Condition factor was reduced by dietary DMPT supplementation. Crude protein content of fish after eight weeks increased with dietary DMPT level, whereas crude lipid content deceased with dietary DMPT level. Amino acid content was higher in DMPT-added group than control group. Amino acid composition was not influenced by dietary DMPT supplementation. Fatty acid content deceased with dietary DMPT level.

  • Upper electrode is one of core parts using plasma etching process at semiconductor. The purpose of this study is to analyze effects of cutting conditions for mechanical machining of silicon upper electrode. For this research, surface roughness of machined workpiece and depth of damage inside of silicon electrode are experimented and analyzed and different values of feed rate and depth of cut are applied for the experiments. From these experiments, it is verified that the surface roughness and internal damaged layer get worse according to take more fast feed rate. In conclusion, cutting condition is very important factor for machining. Results of this study can use to develop various parts which are made from single crystal silicon and affect various benefits to the semiconductor industry for better productivity.

  • Micro Drills have found ever wider application. However micro drilling is a machining to integrate the difficult machinablities such as tool stiffness, position control and revolution accuracy, and is known to cost and time consuming. So, this study aimed to practice ultraminiature drilling(0.05 .phi. ) wiht simple component, if possible. System is developed as the three modules : feed drives, spindle and monitoring part. The dynamics of measured current signals from the spindle of Micro Hole Drilling machine are investigated to establish the criteria of stepfeed mechanism. Cutting experiments identify the relationship of spindle rpm, feed rate and tool life. The smaller drill diameter is, the more suitable cutting condition have to be selected because of chip packing.
