Ontology is the artifacts for representing the truth or the states of objects by defining objects and their relations. In this paper, we propose an agent that classifies Web documents and provides personalized information towards user`s information needs using ontology. the agent uses ontology in which semantic relations on Web documents are represented in ta hierarchical form to classify Web documents. In this paper, ontology consists of concepts, features(describing concepts), relations(among concepts) and constraints(among elements in a feature). The agent can capture user's information needs efficiently by using ontology and assist Web navigation by using users profiles and the results of identification of semantic relations in Web documents. Also, the agent obtains Web documents by a look-ahead search and represents them as concepts, therefore users can understand them easily by receiving recommendations expressed in the form of high-level concepts.

In this paper, we propose a model to enrich an ontology by incrementally extending the relations through variations of patterns. In order to generalize initial patterns, combinations of features are considered as candidate patterns. The candidate patterns are used to extract relations from Wikipedia, which are sorted out according to reliability based on corpus frequency. Selected patterns then are used to extract relations, while extracted relations are again used to extend the patterns of the relation. Through making variations of patterns in incremental enrichment process, the range of pattern selection is broaden and refined, which can increase coverage and accuracy of relations extracted. In the experiments with single-feature based pattern models, we observe that the features of lexical, headword, and hypernym provide reliable information, while POS and syntactic features provide general information that is useful for enrichment of relations. Based on observations on the feature types that are appropriate for each syntactic unit type, we propose a pattern model based on the composition of features as our ongoing work.
The ontology alignment has two kinds of major problems. First, the features used for ontology alignment are usually defined by experts, but it is highly possible for some critical features to be excluded from the feature set. Second, the semantic and the structural similarities are usually computed independently, and then they are combined in an ad-hoc way where the weights are determined heuristically. This paper proposes the modified parse tree kernel (MPTK) for ontology alignment. In order to compute the similarity between entities in the ontologies, a tree is adopted as a representation of an ontology. After transforming an ontology into a set of trees, their similarity is computed using MPTK without explicit enumeration of features. In computing the similarity between trees, the approximate string matching is adopted to naturally reflect not only the structural information but also the semantic information. According to a series of experiments with a standard data set, the kernel method outperforms other structural similarities such as GMO. In addition, the proposed method shows the state-of-the-art performance in the ontology alignment.

Ontology is represented by the shared concepts and relations among those. Many studies have been actively working on sharing human's knowledge with that of systems by using it. For a typical example, there is the design and implementation of ontology system for image understanding. However conventional studies on ontology-based image understanding have proposed not concrete methods but conceptual idea. In this paper, we propose an ontology-based image understanding system with following four processes: i)knowledge representation of a specific domain by the ontology, ii)feature extraction of objects through image processing and image analysis, iii)image interpretation by object features, and iv)reduction of ambiguity existing in image interpretation by ontology reasoning. We implement an image understanding system based on the proposed processed, and show the effectiveness of the proposed system from experimental results in a specific domain.
Although RDF ontologies might be expressed in XML tree model, existing methods for protection of XML documents are not suitable for securing RDF ontologies. The graph style and inference feature of RDF demands a new security model development. Driven by this goal, this paper proposes a new query-oriented model for the RDF ontology access control. The proposed model rewrites a user query using a three-layered ontology view. The proposal resolves the problem that the existing approaches should generate inference models depending on inference rules. Accessible ontology concepts and instances which a user can visit are defined as ontology views, and the inference view defined for controling an inference query enables a controlled inference capability for the user. This paper defines the three-layered view and describes algorithms for query rewriting according to the views. An implemented prototype with its system architecture is shown. Finally, the experiment and comparative evaluation result of the proposal and the previous approach is described.

The services of the IoT environment should constantly collect situation information, and perform appropriate actions according to the situation. Therefore, there is a need for a method that can express collected situation information. In this paper, we propose a situation information model based on ontology for IoT environment. Since the proposed model is ontology based, it supports semantic interoperability. We also build an upper-level ontology to model common situation information of various IoT domains. It is easy to understand and use because it expresses situation information consistently by expressing person, environment, and thing constituting IoT environment as class and defining properties indicating the situation. In addition, since the situation information need to reflect dynamic situation, it has a feature to model the creation time and the life time of the situation information so as to judge the validity of the information. The proposed ontology model is described using OWL, and the service can be described based on the constructed ontology.
This paper proposes a ontology of tree structure approach for adaptive object recognition in a situation-variant environment. In this paper, we introduce a new concept, ontology of tree structure ontology, for context sensitivity, as we found that many developed systems work in a context-invariant environment. Due to the effects of illumination on a supreme obstinate designing context-sensitive recognition system, we have focused on designing such a context-variant system using ontology of tree structure. Ontology can be defined as an explicit specification of conceptualization of a domain typically captured in an abstract model of how people think about things in the domain. People produce ontologies to understand and explain underlying principles and environmental factors. In this research, we have proposed context ontology, context modeling, context adaptation, and context categorization to design ontology of tree structure based on illumination criteria. After selecting the proper light-ontology domain, we benefit from selecting a set of actions that produces better performance on that domain. We have carried out extensive experiments on these concepts in the area of object recognition in a dynamic changing environment, and we have achieved enormous success, which will enable us to proceed on our basic concepts.
