The effect of electrolysis conditions on the composition, the magnetic properties and the preferred orientation of Ni-Fe-Co alloy deposits was investigated using the sulfate-chloride bath paddle agitated. Cathode current efficiency increases with the current density, showing the different tendency of the variation from that of the Ni-Fe electrodeposits. The Co content of the deposits decreases with increasing current density, while the content of Ni and Fe is shown to be minimum or maximum at 3A/$dm^2$ respectively. The Ni/Fe ratio of the alloy deposits is lower than that of Ni-Fe deposits. The coercive force($H_c$) of the deposits increases with the Co content in deposit, showing the relatively low value in the range of 1.8~5.0Wt.% Co. The anisotropy field ($H_k$) of the deposits is higher than that of Ni-Fe alloy deposits, The preferred orientation of the deposits is generally (200), but the orientation factor(R) changes with both the increase of current density and the magnetic field applied during deposition.

The Fe-Ni compact bodies were fabricated using Fe-Ni mixed powders with 50 nm in diameter by injection molding process. The relationship between microstructure and material properties was characterized with respect to the volume ratio of powder/binder and sintering temperature with SEM and TEM. In the compact body having the volume percent ratio of 45(Fe-Ni) : 55(binder), which was sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ the values of relative density and hardness were low about 97.7% and 277.1 Hv, respectively. Using the composition of 50(Fe Ni) : 50(binder) and sintered at $900^{\circ}C$, the values of relative density and hardness were 98.5%, 294.4 Hv, respec-tively. The grain size of sintered bodies strongly depended on the sintering temperature. In both samples sintered at $600^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$, the average grain sizes were about 150 nm and 500 nm in diameter, respectively.
The $[Ni_{80}Fe_{20}/Cu/Co/Cu]$ multilayers were grown by evaporation technique, and according to magnetic exchange coupling relation, magnetoresistance ratio and magnetization curve were studied by Co inserting $Ni_{80}Fe_{20}/Cu$ interface. Insertion of Co layer to the antiferromagnetically coupled system, i. e $t_{Cu} = 25\;{\AA}$, decrese the MR ratio contrary to previous reports. However the insertion to the ferromagneticalyl coupled $(t_{Cu} = 27\;{\AA})$ and the noncoupled $(t_{Cu} = 47\;{\AA})$ systems increase the ratio to 3.5 % and 6 % respectively. The results imply that the insertion change the magnetic exchange coupling state as well as the spin dependent scattering of conduction electrons. Besides, insertion of Co layer between Cu and $Ni_{80}Fe_{20}$ layer enhaces thermal stability to the 300 $^{\circ}C$, which indicates that insertion of Co has a role of the effective diffusion barrier.
Exchange coupled $NiFe/TbCo/Sio_{2}$ thin films for magnetoresistive heads were sputter deposited using RF diode sputtering method, and their magnetic characteristics were measured. TbCo films were deposited using a composite target, which is composed of Tb chips epoxied on a Co target. NiFe($400\AA$)/TbCo($1500\AA$)/$SiO_{2}$($500\AA$) films were deposited using a TbCo target having 30 % of Tb area ratio, which showed 25 Oe of the exchange field without substrate bias and 12 Oe with -55 V of substrate bias. The effective in-plane coercivities of the three layer films fabricated with less than -55 V of substrate bias were approximately proportional to the perpendicular coercivities of the TbCo layer only. The films fabricated with a Theo target of 28 % area ratio showed the same trend. However, the exchange field decreased to 4 Oe without the substrate bias and 7 Oe with -55 V of substrate bias. In the films fabricated with 1000 W of power and the target of 36 % area ratio exhibited 100 Oe of exchange field and 3 Oe of coercivity. As the thickness of NiFe layer increased, the exchange field decreased.

We report an experimental evidence of coexistence of the strong and weak exchange couplings in unidirectional NiO/NiFe (antiferromagneticlferromagnetic) bilayer thin films. The exchange bias was measured by VSM and AMR techniques and then, analyzed into the strong and weak exchange couplings by means of a regression method. In NiO(60nm)/NiFe(10nm) film, the ratio of the weak exchange coupling field over the average exchange coupling field was found to be almost unchanged within it range from 0.2 to 0.4 irrespective to the strength of an applied field. However, the ratio increased among the samples with decreasing the average exchange coupling field due to the increment of the weak exchange coupling area.
We have studied changes of coercivity $(H_c)$, exchange anisotropy field $(H_{ex})$ and MR ration in glass/Ta/NiFeI/CoI(t)/Cu/CoII(3/4 t)/NiFeII/FeMn spin valve structures by changing Ar pressure and thicknesses of Co layers using DC, RF sputtering methods. We obtained minimum coercivity of 2.8 Oe at 4 mTorr of Ar pressure, exchange anisotropy field of 50.0 Oe at 6 mTorr and 5.3 % of MR ratio at 10 mTorr. Also, we obtained 3.0 Oe of coercivity at 40 $\AA$ of CoI layer, 65.9 Oe at 13 $\AA$ and 4.7 % of MR ratio at 27 $\AA$ and 34 $\AA$ by changing the thicknesses of Co layers.
[Ni/Fe/Cu] and [Fe/Ni/Fe/Cu] multilayers were prepared with three gun rf-magnetron sputtering, and dependence of magnetoresistance on the Ni IFe thickness ratio was investigated. Vaccum annealing was tried to invetigated the effect of annealing. Oscillation of magnetoresistance on the Cu spacer thickness was dbserved in these two kinds of multilayers. When the thickness of Fe inserted into the Ni/Cu interface was about $3\;\AA$. the maximum value of magnetoresistance(13 %) could be observed. In a sample of $1~2\;\AA$ Fe thickness, saturation field decreased significantly, while magnetoresistace decreased slightly in comparison with the sample of $3\;\AA$ Fe. In ${[Cu(23\;\AA)/Fe(1\;\AA)/Ni(18\;\AA)/Fe(1\;\AA)]}_{20}/Fe(80\;\AA)/Si$, 6 % magnetoresistance with 100 Oe saturation field could be obtained. No appreciable change in magnetoresistance and saturation field could be observed by low temperature annealing. Formation of Ni-Fe alloy was not confinred.
We have investigated the changes in magnetoresistive characteristics, interfacial roughness, and preferred orientation with the Fe buffer layer thickness, annealing temperature, and the stacking number of layers variation in Fe/[NiFe/Cu] multilayers by using the 3-gun d.c. magnetron sputtering method. Intensity of the (200) orientation was increased with the increment of the Fe-buffer layer thickness. We found a maximum magnetoresistance ration of 4.7%, when the buffer layer thickness was 70$\AA$, and the field sensitivity also showed a maximum value at the same thickness. We varied the stacking number of multilayers with fixing the Fe buffer layer thickness of 70$\AA$. When the stacking number was 40 layers, maximum MR ratio(5.3%) was observed. With the variation of annealing temperature no change in the MR ratio was found beyond $300^{\circ}C$. But decrement of MR ratio was observed above $300^{\circ}C$. This decrement of the MR ratio was responsible for the increment of paramagnetic mixed layer caused by the diffusion of Cu layer and the change of antiferromagnetic coupling.

In order to investigate the effect of NiO on the ethanol gas sensing performance of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles, NiO and ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles are synthesized by hydrothermal method. The sensor with ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ and NiO nanoparticles mixed at an optimum ratio of 7:3 showed 3.8 times improved sensing performance for 200ppm ethanol gas at $200^{\circ}C$. The enhanced gas sensing performance can be considered to be caused by pn heterojunction at the grain boundaries of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ and NiO nanopartcles.
We have studied local magnetization reversal and magnetic properties induced by Laser annealing method in the strip-patterned Ta/NiFe/FeMn/Ta and Ta/NiFe/FeMn/NiFe/Ta multilayers fabricated by ion-beam deposition. The films were exposed to the emission of the DPSS (Diode Pumped Solid State, Nd:YAG) laser under 600 G. The laser beam intensity increased up to 440 mW. When the laser illuminated the patterned film with the power of above 200 m W, the intensity of MR peak located in +87 Oe shrunk. A new MR peak was generated at -63 Oe. When the laser power is 400 mW, the location of positive MR peak(H$\sub$ex/) was changed slightly from +87 Oe to +76 Oe, and the MR ratio was decreased from 0.9% to 0.1 %. On the other hand, the new (negative) MR peak shifted from -63 Oe to -80 Oe, with the MR ratio increased up to 0.3%. As the illuminated area expanded, the intensity of opposite MR peak increased and it of negative MR peak decreased. This proved that the local reversal of exchange biasing should be realized by laser annealing.
