Possibility of Magnetocapacitor for Multilayered Thin Films

  • CoNiFe(CNF)/$BaTiO_3(BTO)$/CoNiFe(CNF) multilayered thin films were deposited on Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrates by using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) system. We fabricated three different thin films of BTO, BTO/CNF and CNF/BTO/CNF for magneto-capacitor and studied their crystalline structure, surface and interface morphology, and magnetic and electrical properties. When three different structures of multilayered thin film were compared, magnetization of CNF/BTO/CNF thin films was decreased by magnetic and dielectric interaction. Also we confirmed that capacitance of CNF/BTO/CNF multilayered thin film was enhanced as being near tetragonal structure with increasing of c/a ratio because of atomic bonding at interface between BTO dielectric and CNF magnetic materials. Finally, we studied the change of the capacitance of CNF/BTO/CNF multilayered thin film with magnetic field for emergence of magnetocapacitance and suggested a possibility of enhanced capacitance.

Electrical properties of PZT/BFO/PZT thin film deposited with various temperature (증착 온도에 따른 PZT/BFO 박막의 전기적 특성)

  • Pb(Zr,Ti)O3/BiFeO3/(PZT/BFO) multilayer thin films were coated on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by chemical solution deposition. With increasing the annealing temperature, the dielectric and leakage current density properties of multilayered PZT/BFO/PZT thin films were improved. The current density of the PZT/BFO/PZT filmannealing at $600^{\circ}C$ was about 189.39(x10-9A/cm2) at 10V. The relative dielectric constant and the dielectric loss of the PZT/BFO/PZT thin film annealing at $600^{\circ}C$ were about 318 and 0.161%, respectively.

Doped Sol-gel TiO2 Films for Biological Applications

  • Mono and multilayer TiO2(Fe, $PEG_{600}$) films were deposited by the dip-coating on $SiO_2$/glass substrate using sol-gel method. In an attempt to improve the antibacterial properties of doped $TiO_2$ films, the influence of the iron oxides and polyethilenglycol ($PEG_{600}$) on the morphological, optical, surface chemical composition and biological properties of nanostructured layers was studied. Complementary measurements were performed including Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (SE), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) coupled with the fractal analysis, X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and antibacterial tests. It was found that different concentrations of Fe and $PEG_{600}$ added to coating solution strongly influence the porosity and morphology at nanometric scale related to fractal behaviour and the elemental and chemical states of the surfaces as well. The thermal treatment under oxidative atmosphere leads to films densification and oxides phase stabilization. The antibacterial activity of coatings against Escherichia Coli bacteria was examined by specific antibacterial tests.

Electronic and Structural Properties of Interfaces in Fe∖MgO∖Cu-Phthalocyanine Hybrid Structures (Fe∖MgO∖Cu-Phthalocyanine 복합구조 계면구조와 그 전자기적 특성)

  • The influence of insertion of an ultra-thin Cu-Phthalocyanine (CuPc) between MgO barrier and ferromagnetic layer in magnetic tunnel juctions (MTJs) was investigated. In order to understand the relation between the electronic and structural properties of Fe${\backslash}$MgO${\backslash}$CuPc, the surface (or interface) analysis was carried out systematically by using spin polarized metastable He de-excited spectroscopy for the CuPc films grown on the Si(001)${\backslash}$5 nm MgO(001)${\backslash}$7 nm Fe(001)${\backslash}$1.6 nm MgO(001) multilayer structure as the thickness of CuPc increases from 0 to 5 nm. In particular, for the 1.6 nm CuPc surface, a rather strong spin asymmetry between up- and down-spin band appears while it becomes weaker or disappears for the CuPc films thinner or thicker than ~1.6 nm. Our results emphasize the importance of the interfacial electronic properties of organic layers in the spin transport of the hybrid MTJs.

Deposition Properties of NiCr Thin Films Prepared by Thermal Evaporation (Thermal Evaporation법으로 제조한 NiCr 박막의 증착 특성)

  • NiCr thin films were fabricated by thermal evaporation method using NiCr alloy as evaporating source. NiCr thin films were annealed at various temperatures in air atmosphere in order to investigate effects of annealing conditions on phase change, composition, and microstructures of NiCr films. Typical multilayer was formed after annealing in air atmosphere. This results from the diffusion and oxidation of Cr toward surface during annealing. In the case of annealing at 700$^{\circ}C$, large columnar grains of NiO were formed on Cr-oxide layer through the diffusion and oxidation of Ni over Cr-oxide layer. Especially, NiO layer was formed additionally on surface, sustaining the underlayer structure with the formation of porous Ni layer.
