This paper deals with an improved fault location algorithm with compensation ground capacitance through distributed parameter for a long parallel T/L. For the purpose of fault locating algorithm non-influenced by source impedance and fault resistance, the loop method was used in the system modeling analysis. This algorithm uses a positive and negative sequence of the fault current for high accuracy of fault locating calculation. Power system model of 160km and 300km long parallel T/L was simulated using EMTP software. To evaluate of the proposed algorithm, we used the several different cases 64 sampled data per cycle. The test results show that the proposed algorithm was minimized the error factor and speed of fault location estimation.
This paper use fault location algorithm for single-phase-to-ground faults on the teed circuit of a parallel transmission line that use only local end voltage and current information. When Newton-Raphson iteration method is used, the Initial value may cause error or cause not suitable result. Suggested new calculation model uses NVP methodology, which is one of the fault tolerance technology to solve this problem. EMTP simulation result has shown effectiveness of the algorithm under various conditions.
This paper describes a new fault location algorithm based on the voltage equation at the relaying point using 6-phase current for untransposed 765㎸ parallel transmission lines. The proposed method uses the voltage and current collected at only the local end. By means of 3-phase circuit analysis theory to compensate the mutual coupling effects between parallel lines, the fault location is derived. The fault distance is determined by solving the 2nd distance equation based on KVL(Kirchhoff's Voltage Law). Extensive simulation results using EMTP(Electromagnatic Transients Program) have verified that the error of the fault location achieved is up to 4.56(%) in untransposed parallel transmission lines.
When the fault occurred at distribution system, the restoration was late. There are 2 reasons The one is the error of fault location the other is multiple possible candidates of fault location. This paper presents two of new techniques for diagnosing fault regions. The proposed diagnosis scheme is capable of accurately identifying the location of fault upon its occurrence. based on the integration of information available from protective devices and measured load current change at the substation. In this paper expert system for real fault region is presented using these facts. Testing of the developed system using EMTP Simulation Model has demonstrated.
This paper proposes the structure of an agent and rules for fault detection and location on LAN. To find out a reason of critical fault incurred LAN, collision detection rule, error detection rule, broadcast detection rule, system location rule, and Internet application location rule ar shown. Also, the structure of multi-agent system and state transition diagram is portrayed to have connectivity with he set of rules. To verify availability of proposed rules, the process to find a faulty system is shown by monitoring and analyzing the LAN fault occurrences from the proposed set of rules. Such an rule based agent system is helpful to an Internet manager to solve a reason of fault and make ad decision from gathering management information.
This paper presents a numerical algorithm for fault location estimation which used to data from both end of the transmission line. The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized voltage and current phasor measured from the PMUs(Phasor Measurement Units) in the time-domain. This paper has separated from two part of with/without shunt capacitance(short/long distance). Most fault was arc one-ground fault which is 75% over [1]. so most study focused with it. In this paper, the numerical algorithm has calculated to distance for ground fault and line-line fault. In this paper, the algorithm is given with/without shunt capacitance using II parameter line model, simple impedance model and estimated using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) and the LES(Least Error Squares Method). To verify the validity of the proposed algorithm, the EMTP(Electro- Magnetic Transient Program) and MATLAB did used.
Distribution system can experience the diverse events instantly and permanently. Also, it can experience high impedance fault or line drop under unbalanced situation, Accordingly, it is difficulty to identify the fault location because that data collected from distribution SCADA system may include uncertainty. This paper proposes an expert system, which can infer the faulted location the quickly and exactly for the diverse events in the distribution system. The expert system utilizes distribution SCADA function and collected data, especially, the monitoring mechanism for the normal open position switches is adopted newly in order to recognize the fault type exactly. Also, automated fault location diagnosis strategy is developed in order to minimize the spreading effect of fault obtained from the error of the system operator. The proposed strategy is implemented in C language. Especially, in order to prove the effectiveness of proposed expert system, the several scenario is simulated for the given model system. The real feeders are selected as model system for the simulation.
This paper analyze scenario of feeder wire fault that occurs in the AC feeding system considering train position. The fault location of AC feeding system is calculated by measuring impedance. However, in this way, estimation error can be occurred because of tie connection, boosting current, etc. Therefore, it's hard to find fault location, so that it is required to detailed circuit analysis according to fault location. We analyze the short circuit impedance values with respect to feeder wire fault according to a train position. In this paper, PSCAD is used for modeling and analysis of AC railway feeding system.
A continuous and reliable electrical energy supply is the objective of any power system operation. A transmission line is the part of the power system where faults are most likely to happen. This paper describes the use of wavelet transform for analyzing power system fault transients in order to determine the fault location. Synchronized sampling was made possible by precise time receivers based on GPS time reference, and the sampled data were analyzed using wavelet transform. This paper describes a fault location monitoring system and fault locating algorithm with GPS, DSP processor, and data acquisition board, and presents some experimental results and error analysis.
This paper proposes a FRTU-based intelligent fault distance determination strategy in which each FRTU is able to avoid multiple estimations and reduce the level of estimation error by utilizing heuristic rules driven by voltage and current information collected by 1:1 communication with other FRTUs from the same zone in a ubiquitous-based distribution system. In the proposed method, each FRTU, at first, determines a fault zone and a fault path on the faulted zone based on the proposed heuristic rules which use its current data and the voltage data of its neighboring FRTUs as input data. Next, it determines the fault distance from its position based on the fault current estimated from the current data of the neighboring FRTUs. Finally, in order to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method, the diverse fault cases are simulated in several positions of the typical distribution system using the EMTP.
