Nb 첨가 오스테나이트계 내열 스테인리스강의 열기계적 피로 수명 및 변형 거동 (Endurance Life and Deformation Behavior under Thermo-mechanical Fatigue of Nb-added Heat Resistant Austenitic Stainless Steel)

  • Thermomechanical fatigue (TMF) behavior of heat resistant austenitic stainless steel was evaluated in the temperature range from 100$^{\circ}C$ to peak temperatures of 600 to 800$^{\circ}C$; The fatigue lives under TMF conditions were plotted against the plastic strain range and the dissipated energy per cycle. In the expression of the inelastic strain range versus fatigue life, the TMF data obtained at different temperature ranges were located close to a single line with a small deviation; however, when the dissipated energy per cycle, calculated from the area of the stress-strain hysteresis loops at the half of the fatigue life, was plotted against the fatigue life, the data showed greater scattering than the TMF life against the inelastic strain range. A noticeable stress relaxation in the stress-strain hysteresis curve took place at the peak temperatures higher than 700$^{\circ}C$, but all specimens in this study exhibited cyclic hardening behavior with TMF cycles. Recrystallization occurred during the TMF cycle concurrent with the formation of fine subgrains in the recrystallized region, which is considered to cause the cyclic hardening of the steel.

  • Research on decreasing the weight of composite sandwich panels is in progress. This paper reports the experimental results for the mechanical behavior of a composite sandwich panel. The skins of sandwich panels were made of glass fiber sheets and plywood matrix composites. Their interior layers consisted of glass fiber pultrusion pipes and gold foam. Experimental tests were performed to obtain the mechanical properties and complex mechanical behavior. Before fatigue tests, tensile tests and 3-point bending tests were carried out to obtain the optimal design and determine their strength and failure mechanisms in the flat-wise position. After the static test, a fatigue test were conducted at a load frequency of 5 Hz, stress ratio (R) of 0.1, and endurance limit for the S-N curve. It showed that the failure modes were related to both the core design and skin failure.

  • FDM is one of the popular 3D printing technologies because of an inexpensive extrusion machine and multi-material printing. FDM can use thermoplastics such as ABS and PLA. The 3D-printed ABS parts fabricated by FDM are attractive in the automotive industry because of their weight. A 10% reduction in weight can increase the fuel economy by approximately 7%. To use 3D-printed ABS parts as automotive parts, we should evaluate the 3D-printed parts in terms of automotive reliability. In this study, 3D-printed ABS samples were evaluated using Ono's rotary bending fatigue test. We obtained an S-N curve for the 3D-printed ABS specimen from the finite-element analysis. The S-N curve can be useful in early-stage design decisions for 3D-printed ABS parts.

LNG선박용 내조시스템 소재의 기계적 특성 및 피로강도 평가 (Evaluation of the Fatigue Strength and the Mechanical Properties for Cargo Containment System in LNG Ship)

  • The membrane type LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) cargo containment system is a special design structure for the large deformation behavior at LNG temperature$(-162^{\circ}C)$. The design of membrane is required great confidence so that membrane can plat role in the tightness of flammable fluid storing. LNG cargo containment is loaded and unloaded LNG between twice and five times in a week. During this process, the membrane has large deformation behavior due to the variation of temperature and pressure to the self weight. In this study, the evaluation of the fatigue strength of membrane is very important to determine the design life of LNG storage tank and to evaluate the mechanical properties at the LNG temperature. Also, in the view point of large deformation, the evaluation method is applied conservatively $\epsilon-N_f$ curve of SUS 304L.

인발성형 공정을 통한 이종재료 복합소재 프레임 개발 및 내구성 평가 (Development and Durability Evaluation of a Bimaterial Composite Frame by Pultrusion Process)

  • Recently, the growing demand for weight reduction and improved structure durabilityfor commercial vehicles has led to active research into the development and application of suitablecomposite materials. This studysuggests abimaterial composite frame produced by apultrusion process to replace steel frames. We focused on the development of a composite frameconsisting of two types of materialsby mixing anorthotropic material with anisotropic material. The inside layer consisted of an aluminum pipe, and the outside layer was composed of a glass fiber pipe. To determine the strength and failure mechanisms of the composite material, tensile tests, shear tests, and three-point bending tests were conducted, followed by fatigue tests. After static testing, the fatigue tests were conducted at a load frequency of 5 Hz, a stress ratio (R) of 0.1, and an endurance limit of $10^6$ for the S-N curve. The resultsshowed that the failure modes were related to both the core design and the laminating conditions.

헬리콥터 로터 무베어링 허브 시스템 복합재 구성품 피로 안전수명 해석 (Fatigue Safe Life Analysis of Helicopter Rotor Bearingless Hub System Composite Components)

  • 기존의 헬리콥터 로터 시스템에서 기계적 힌지/베어링 부품을 복합재 빔 구성품으로 대체하여 중량과 부품수를 줄인 무베어링 허브 시스템을 설계하였으며, 그 중 중요 구성품인 유연보와 토크튜브에 대한 피로 안전수명 해석을 수행하였다. VABS를 이용한 2차원 단면 해석 수행을 통해 인장, 굽힘 및 뒤틀림 강성을 도출하였으며 2차원 탄성 보 모델에 대한 단면 구조해석 방법을 적용하여 각 단면에 발생하는 변형율을 계산하였다. 각 복합재 소재에 대한 S-N 곡선을 Wohler equation을 적용하여 생성하였으며, 정적구조해석을 통해 피로파손에 취약할 것으로 판단되는 영역에 대한 피로해석을 수행하였다. 헬리콥터 운영시로부터 구성품에 발생하는 하중은 CAMRAD II를 통해 계산하였으며, 하중해석 결과를 HELIX/FELIX 표준 하중 스펙트럼에 적용하여 무베어링 로터 허브 시스템의 하중 스펙트럼을 생성한 후, 이를 통해 최종적으로 피로 안전수명을 산출하였다.

잠수함 압력선체의 피로강도에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Investigations on the Fatigue Strength of the Submarine Pressure Hull)

  • Submarine and deep sea diving structures are generally designed based on their ultimate strength. Fatigue strength at welded joint must be also taken into account because working stress is increased due to the increasing of diving depth and using high yield steel. The pressure hulls of submarine are subjected to fluctuating compressive loading. But in addition to the calculated stresses, high residual tensile stresses at welded part have to be considered. The state of stress level of pressure hull is tensile at surface and compressive at deep diving depth. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on the crack initiation and growth at the weld toe of T welded joints of HY-100 steel plate under constant amplitude loading. It is also investigated the phenomenon of the fatigue failure and test methods. Fatigue tests have been using real scaled local structural models of full penetration T-welded joint, which is a part of the cylindrical shell structures reinforced by ring stiffeners. Several load ratios under constant amplitude loading are considered in the tests. Crack initiation and growth characteristics are examined based on the beach marks of the cracked section of the test specimens. A design stress-life curve including the design formula is suggested according to tested data.

  • In this study, in order to perform more efficiently reliability design and integrity assessment of structural members, the relational database management program on the engineering plastics was constructed. This program contained 476 grades for 14 kinds of the engineering plastics and was developed using MS-access and MS-visualbasic. This program consists of 3 modules; search condition, probabilistic characteristics of material property, evaluation of P-S-N curve. We perform fatigue test for probabilistic durability analysis and this results input the database program to estimate P-S-N.

틸트 로터형 항공기의 플랩퍼론 연결부에 대한 크리깅 기반 피로해석 (Fatigue Analysis based on Kriging for Flaperon Joint of Tilt Rotor Type Aircraft)

  • 피로해석은 반복하중 하에서의 항공우주 구조물에 대한 구조적 파괴를 예방하기 위해 수행된다. 본 논문에서는 틸트로터형 무인 항공기에 대하여 피로수명에 대한 평가를 하였다. 먼저 틸트로터형 무인항공기의 기동에 맞는 하중 스펙트럼을 생성해 내었으며, F.C.L. 부품중 하나인 플랩퍼론 연결부위에 대하여 피로해석을 수행 하였다. 틸트로터형 무인항공기는 크게 두 가지 기동 형태로 나눌 수 있는데, 이 착륙시의 헬리콥터 형태와 순항시의 고정익 형태가 되겠다. 전체적인 피로하중 스펙트럼을 만들기 위해서 헬리콥터 형태에는 FELIX를, 고정익 형태에서는 TWIST를 사용하였다. 한편으로는, S-N 실험점이 해석에 사용될 때 재료수명의 전 영역에 대한 S-N 회귀식을 얻기 위하여 크리깅 메타 모델이 사용되었다. 그리고 최소 자승법을 이용한 이차 회귀식에 대한 S-N 커브 역시 생성하였다. 더욱이 이 커브들이 갖고 있는 정확도를 측정하기 위하여 결정 계수법을 사용하였다. 마지막으로는 플랩퍼론 연결 부위에 대한 피로수명 결과를 MSC. Fatigue와 비교하였다.

원공조치를 가진 탄소섬유강화 플라스틱 적층판의 피로수명에측 (Fatigue Life Prediction of Circular Notched CFRP Laminates)

  • Fatigue life prediction and fatigue behavior of circular notched carbon fiber reinforced plastic laminates are presented. Point and average stress criteria by Whitney and Nuismer are generalized to fatigue fracture criteria for notched laminates. Residual strength degradation model and the assumptions on the stress redistribution are introduced during the derivation of prediction equations. S-N curve, Basquin's relation, and H and H's FLPE1 are chosen for evaluation of residual strength of unnotched laminates and six prediction equations are derived. Experiments are performed using Graphite/Epoxy laminates whose fiber orientation is $[0$^\circ$/+45$^\circ$/-45$^\circ$/90$^\circ$]s. Presented prediction equations are reasonably close to experimental data and proposed appoach is found to be suitable to predict fatigue life of notched composite laminates.
