The rotating bending fatigue tests were performed using the specimens taken from Cr-Mo-V steel, widely sued in thermal power plant turbines, at various temperatures such as room temperature, 300 .deg. C, 425 .deg. C and 550 .deg. C. The characteristics of fatigue crack propagation were examined and analyzed by using fracture mechanics parameter. The plastic replica method was also applied in order to measure the crack length on the basis of serial observation of fatigue crack propagation behavior on the defected specimen surface. The fatigue crack propagation behavior of Cr-Mo-V steel was investigated within the frame work of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics. The propagation law of fatigue crack is obtained uniquely by using the term .sigma. $^{n}$ sub a/where .sigma. $_{a}$ is the service stress, a is the crack length and n is a constant. The values of constant n are nearly equal to 2.48, 2.60 and 8.61 at room temperature, 300 .deg. C and 425 .deg. C.
In this paper, the effect of compressive strength on the fatigue behavior of plain concrete was studied. The fatigue behavior of plain concrete in uniaxial compression is somewhat affected by the compressive strength of the concrete. Concrete cylindrical specimens(100$\times$200mm) with compressive strength of 265kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 530kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ , 860kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 1053kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ were tested and analyzed on the fatigue strength, In addition to fatigue strength, the deformation characteristics of the concrete subjected to fatigue loading was investigated. The fatigue strength was decreased for the high-strength concrete. The deformation studies indicated that the irrecoverable strain in normal strength concrete is greater than that in high strength concrete.
Fatigue strength. especially crack initiation behavior of high strength steel under marine water environment was investigated. Marine structures were usually constructed by lot of weld joints and were designed by basis of the fatigue strength of weld joints. This study was carried out to mini. The fatigue initiation behavior is more important rather than crack propagation behavior under the design of marine structures, because it is very difficult to find out the crack propagation phenomena and repair the damaged part of welded joints in sea water Then, the new configuration specimen for fatigue crack initiation tests was proposed. Using this new specimen, it is easy to carry out the crack initiation tests with relatively low cycling loading and clearly find out a crack initiation fatigue life.
The fatigue crack propagation tests were performed in triangular and holding-time stress waveforms at $650^{\circ}C$. The behavior of fatigue crack propagation was investigated according to waveform. The analysis of high temperature fatigue crack propagation by the stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}K$, elastic fracture mechanics parameter, was not available. The behaviors of high temperature fatigue crack propagation by the J-integral(${\Delta}J_f$, J' and ${\Delta}J_c$), elasto-plastic fracture mechanics parameter, were investigated in a number of stress waveforms. The fast-fast waveform exhibited cycle-dependent(fatigue type), the slow-fast and the hold time with 500sec waveforms appear to be time-dependent(creep type) and the fast-slow and the hold time with 5, 25sec waveforms exhibited conbined behavior of both types(fatigue-creep conbined type).
In this study, Fatigue crack growth behavior of the laser welded sheet metal due to a single overload was investigated. From Fatigue crack propagation test, it was observed that the retardation of fatigue crack growth has been more effective in the welded specimen than in the base metal. And if the distance between the welded part and the position of overload is too close the retardation of fatigue crack growth at the welded part has been decreased. From FEM analysis, it was observed the retardation has been more effective compressive residual stress than plastic zone.
At early stage of creep-fatigue crack growth tests, initial transient behavior which implies high crack growth rate has been generally observed by some researchers. Since the influence of the initial transient crack growth behavior on the remaining life of components is significant, cause of it should be further studied. In this study, characteristics of the initial transient behavior of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel is studied experimentally by performing creep-fatigue crack growth tests at $538^{\circ}C$ in air under trapezoidal waveshapes. It is verified that the cause of the initial transient behavior is not high ${(C_t)}_{avg}$ values due to the small scale creep condition at the early stage of test, but oxidation-dominated crack growth mechanism during the transient period which is different from the creep-dominated crack growth mechanism in steady crack growth period.
This paper presents a new cost-effective hybrid GFRP-Concrete deck system that the GFRP panel serves as both tensile reinforcement and stay-in-place form. In order to understand the fatigue behavior of such hybrid deck, fatigue test on a full-scale specimen under sagging moment was conducted, and a series of static tests were also carried out after certain repeated loading cycles. The fatigue test results indicated that such hybrid deck has a good fatigue performance even after 3.1 million repeated loading cycles. A three-dimensional finite element model of the hybrid deck was established based on experimental work. The results from finite element analyses are in good agreement with those from the tests. In addition, flexural fatigue analysis considering the reduction in flexural stiffness and modulus under cyclic loading was carried out. The predicted flexural strength agreed well with the analytical strength from finite element simulation, and the calculated fatigue failure cycle was consistent with the result based on related S-N curve and finite element analyses. However, the flexural fatigue analytical results tended to be conservative compared to the tested results in safety side. The presented overall investigation may provide reference for the design and construction of such hybrid deck system.
The major objective of this study is to investigate the fatigue effects of rail pad on High Speed Railway with concrete slab track system. It analyzed the mechanical behaviors of HSR concrete slab track with applying rail pad stiffness based on fatigue effect(hardening and increasing stiffness) on the 3-dimensional FE analysis and laboratory test for static & dynamic characteristics. As a result, the hardening of rail pad due to fatigue loading condition are negative effect for the static & dynamic response of concrete slab track which is before act on fatigue effect. The analytical and experimental study are carried out to investigate rail pad on fatigue effected increase vertical acceleration and stress and decrease suitable deflection on slab track. And rail pad based on fatigue effect induced dynamic maximum stresses, the increase of damage of slab track is predicted by adopting fatigue effected rail pad. after due consideration The servicing HSR concrete slab track with resilient track system has need of the reasonable determination after due consideration fatigue effect of rail pad stiffness which could be reducing the effect of static and dynamic behavior that degradation phenomenon of structure by an unusual response characteristic and a drop durability.

Fatigue behavior of shear joints between combined reinforced concrete(RC) and reinforced steel fiber concrete(RSFC) specimens has been experimentally investigated. Experimental parameters used are the amount of steel fiber and the type of shear joint. 6 specimens have been tested under static load, and 8 specimens have been subjected to the fatigue load in a range of 50% and 5 % of the ultimate static load. The purpose of this research is to propose an empirical formula for fatigue shear behavior of combined RC and RSFC structures on the basic of experimental result. It can be observed from experimental result that addition of steel fibers to concrete specimen increases the static ultimate load by approximately 25%, enhances the fatigue behavior, and also reduces vertical and lateral displacements at the shear joint for a given load cycle after the occurrence of first crack.
