To examine the parenting experiences of North Korean parents in South Korea, seven parents(a father, a grandmother and five mothers) were interviewed about their parenting beliefs, attitudes and behaviors. It was found that parents from North Korea felt a safe existence including safety from hunger in South Korea but they were afraid of the many cars and unfamiliar diseases in South Korea. They had many difficulties with unfamiliar child rearing practices and parental roles in South Korea. Their confusion about good parenting was compounded by psychological and physical after-effects of the escape from their native country. They found help in adjusting to parenting in South Korea by such social networks as child care centers.
According to the traditional Korean medicine (TKM), kidney has been recognized as the roof of innate endowment because it plays an important role in the birth, growth, sexual reproduction, and aging. Kidney essence insufficiency syndrome (KEIS) is caused when kidney is impaired. KEIS is characterized by retarded development, decreased reproduction, tinnitus, loosening of teeth, and loss of hair and forgetfulness. In traditional Chinese medicine, KEIS mouse model was established by use of threatinjuring the kidney combined with over-fatigue. However, the TKM theory-based KEIS experiment model has not been described correctly. In the present study, we suggest a new KEIS experiment model including following cases; 1) weakness of father essence and mother blood, 2) life nurturing during pregnancy, 3) full-term gestation period.

Self-esteem played a mediating role in relation between parental attachment and college adjustment, Furthermore self-esteem was a most significant predictor of college adjustment .
This study of child-rearing practices and daily activities of children during the Chosun dynasty was conducted through analysis of 91 traditional paintings of the period. Genre, figure, folk, and landscape paintings were included in the analysis. Findings were that child-rearing was strongly focused on the family. Generally, the mother was shown as the primary caregiver of the child. Grandmother, father, and grandfather also played a role in raising the child. The daily activities of the children consisted of helping with household chores, assisting the elderly, doing small jobs, studying, playing, performing for family members, and participating in family rituals and community events. Differences in child-rearing methods and contents of daily activities varied by gender and socio-economic status.
The purpose of this stud was to investigate how the children's perceptions of interpersonal relations(parent, family and peers) and self are related to social preference. The subjects of this study were 625 children of 5th and 6th grade in 4 primary schools in Tajon. Social preference was highly correlated with perceptions of peer and of father. The direct path between boy's perceptions of parent/family and peer ratings of social preference was no longer significant whereas there was a significant path mediated by their perception of self. This suggests that boys and girls' peer representations were established for the role as mediators between parents/ family representations and peer ratings of social preference. In addition negative representations of self and others were found to be associated with increased social impairment and less positive status in the peer groups.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the interaction and effects of shame and parent-child communication on children and early adolescents' peer pressure. The subjects of this study were 359 children and early adolescents from 5th grade in elementary school to 2nd grade in middle school (187 boys, and 172 girls) in Daejeon city. The results of this research indicated that gender and age played a significant role on the effects of shame and parent-child communication on peer pressure. Open communication with mothers showed a positive relationship with boys' peer pressure, whereas open communication with father showed a negative relationship with boys' peer pressure. The interaction effects of shame and open-communication with fathers and mothers worked differently on peer pressure across gender and age. Interaction effects of shame and open communication with fathers and mothers were significant for boys, but not for girls. Interaction effect of shame and open communication with mothers was significant for children and adolescents.
Axonal Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT2) has most frequently been associated with mutations in the MFN2 gene. MFN2 encodes mitofusin 2, which is a mitochondrial fusion protein that plays an essential role in mitochondrial function. We report CMT2 in a Korean father and his son that manifested with gait difficulties and progressive atrophy of the lower legs. Molecular analysis revealed a novel heterozygous c.2096T>C (p.Leu699Pro) mutation in the exon 18 of MFN2 in both subjects. We suggest that this novel mutation in MFN2 is probably a pathogenic mutation for CMT2.
Matsumoto Makoto is regarded as founding father of the Japanese school of Finsler geometry because he established the Japanese Society of Finsler Geometry in 1968 and organized the Symposium every year since then. In this paper, we investigate how Matsumoto initiated the study of this topic leaping over geographical limit and how Yano Kentaro and Kawaguchi Akitsugu had affected Matsumoto in the formation of the Japanese school of Finsler geometry. We also take a view of the role of É. Cartan who invented the concept of the connection in early 20th century in this regard.
The purpose of this study was to understand the labor division between men's housework and market work and to research the change of men's contribution to housework. And it was also examined what kinds of valuables work on a change in men's market work and housework. The information about men's change in the labor division was collected from the biggest 5 news papers in Korea for last five years for this study. And either men's new participation trend to household work did. Words searched for this study were men, labor, family, home, housewife, work, household work, father etc. Korean men have experienced a overloaded breadwinner role and have worked most in the world since 1960s. But Korean men's working time was continuously decreased a little every year. As Korean Companies had fired many worker during IMP economic crisis period, Korean men had to work more than before because of decreased fellows and they should have concentrated on their work at the sacrifice of private life and family-sharing time. On the other hand, some men were started to participate to do housework as a results of long-unemployment and early retirement after this periods. 5 day working system be in forced gradually since 2003 especially make men come back home and interest on housework. So Korean men's housework participation is gradually increasing by the practical application of sex-equitable politics such as 5 day working system and men's suspension regime for baby care. father's increased participation to children education and care, men's new family-oriented life style, dual-sexuality education system, and socially changed perception to husband housemaker. These interrelated trends demands us to shape a new labor division pattern in the family that make change the breadwinner/homemaker conception by the gender role. Now, all of family, men, women, and children have to join housework. It would help women, men, and all families make more human and equitable relationship.
