CsI:Gd crystal was grown by the Bridgeman method and its scintillation properties were investigated. The wavelength peak of the luminescence spectrum for the crystal excited by X-ray was 419 nm. The range of the spectrum was from 300 nm to 800 nm. The spectrum well matched to the quantum efficiency of a typical bi-alkali photo-multiplier tube(PMT). An energy resolution of 48.2 % was obtained for 662 keV ${\gamma}$-rays of $^{137}Cs$. The three decay times were obtained as a fast(557.4 ns, 42.2 %), intermediate (1.78 ${\mu}s$, 29.7 %) and slow (5.43 ${\mu}s$, 28.1 %) components, respectively.
The radiant energy from a flaming fire of fuels containing carbonaceous material can be applied to fast growing fire. Raiant energy sensinsing technique applied detectors are ultimately effective when early detecting fire alarm system is required or the smoke and heat detectors can not be applied. This study investigated the characteristics of sun light, artificial light and flame radiation light and the foundation technique of flame detecting is established. Pyroelectric element proper for the characteristics of flame radiant energy developed and circuit stabilizing technique, electro-magnetic immunity technique, durable and reliable operating technique to circuits developed.

The speech signal has been put into a form suitable for storage and analysis by computer, several different operation can be performed. Filtering, sampling and quantization are the basic operation in digiting a speech signal. The waveform can be displayed, measured and even edited, and spectra can be computed using methods such as the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Linear predictive Coding (LPC), Cepstrum and filtering. The digitized signal also can be used to generate spectrograms. The spectrograph provide major advantages to the study of speech. So, author introduces the basic techniques for the acoustic recording, digital signal processing and the principles of spectrum and spectrogram.
A new method of EEG spindle waveform detection i s presented. The method combines the signal conditioning in the time-domin and the analysis of local spectrum in the frequency-domain. Fast computation methods, utilizing some effective approximations, are also suggested for the desist and implementation of the filter as well as for the computation of the local spectrum. The presented approach is especially useful for the real-time implementation of the waveform detection system under a general purpose microcomputer environment. The overall detection system is implemented and tested on-line with the total 24 hour data of selected four subjects. The result show the average agreement of 86.7% with the visually inspected result.

The high-frequency analysis method of back-scattering cross section spectrum of rotating targets is established. The time history of the back-scattering cross section is calculated using a quasi-stationary approach, based on a physical optics and a physical theory of diffraction, combining an adaptive triangular beam method to consider the shadow effect. And the spectra of back-scattering cross section by the Doppler effect are analyzed applying a simple fast Fourier transform method to its time history. The numerical calculation for rotating targets, such as rotating metal plates and underwater propeller, are carried out. The time history appears to be periodic with respect to the number of wings. The backscattering cross section spectrum level and its frequency shift are dependent on the rotating speed, direction, and the shape of the targets.
This study is intended to evaluate the dependency of TRU recycling characteristics on the neutron spectrum shift in a Pb-Bi cooled core. Considering two Pb-Bi cooled cores with the soft and the hard spectrum, respectively, various characteristics of the recycled core are carefully examined and compared with each other. Assuming very simplified fuel cycle management with the homogeneous and single region fuel loading, the burnup calculations are performed until the recycled core reached to the (quasi-) equilibrium state. The mechanism of TRU recycling toward the equilibrium is analyzed in terms of burnup reactivity and the isotopic compositions of TRU fuel. In the comparative analyses, the difference in the recycling behavior between the two cores is clarified. In addition, the basic safety characteristics of the recycled core are also discussed in terms of the Doppler coefficient, the coolant loss reactivity coefficient, and the effective delayed neutron fraction.
In this study, we demonstrate ultrahigh-resolution spectral-domain optical coherence tomography with a 200-kHz line rate using a superluminescent diode with a -3-dB bandwidth of 100 nm at 849 nm. To increase the line rate, a subset of the total number of camera pixels is used. In addition, a partial-spectrum detection method is used to obtain OCT images within an imaging depth of 2.1 mm while maintaining ultrahigh axial resolution. The partially detected spectrum has a flat-topped intensity profile, and side lobes occur after fast Fourier transformation. Consequently, we propose and apply the super-Gaussian window function as a new window function, to reduce the side lobes and obtain a result that is close to that of the axial-resolution condition with no window function applied. Upon application of the super-Gaussian window function, the result is close to the ultrahigh axial resolution of 4.2 ㎛ in air, corresponding to 3.1 ㎛ in tissue (n = 1.35).

We deploy artificial neural networks to unfold neutron spectra from measured energy-integrated quantities. These neutron spectra represent an important parameter allowing to compute the absorbed dose and the kerma to serve radiation protection in addition to nuclear safety. The built architectures are inspired from convolutional neural networks. The first architecture is made up of residual transposed convolution's blocks while the second is a modified version of the U-net architecture. A large and balanced dataset is simulated following "realistic" physical constraints to train the architectures in an efficient way. Results show a high accuracy prediction of neutron spectra ranging from thermal up to fast spectrum. The dataset processing, the attention paid to performances' metrics and the hyper-optimization are behind the architectures' robustness.

The Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR) with its liquid circulating fuel and its fast neutron spectrum calls for a new safety approach including technological neutral methodologies and analysis tools adapted to early design phases. In the frame of the Horizon2020 program SAMOFAR (Safety Assessment of the Molten Salt Fast Reactor) a safety approach suitable for Molten Salt Reactors is being developed and applied to the MSFR. After a description of the MSFR reference design, this paper focuses on the identification of the Postulated Initiating Events (PIEs), which is a core part of the global assessment methodology. To fulfil this task, the Functional Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FFMEA) and the Master Logic Diagram (MLD) are selected and employed separately in order to be as exhaustive as possible in the identification of the initiating events of the system. Finally, an extract of the list of PIEs, selected as the most representative events resulting from the implementation of both methods, is presented to illustrate the methodology and some of the outcomes of the methods are compared in order to highlight symbioses and differences between the MLD and the FFMEA.

The Passively-Cooled Molten Salt Fast Reactor (PMFR) is one of the advanced design concepts of the Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR) which utilizes a natural circulation for the primary loop and aims to attain a long-life operation without any means of fuel reprocessing. For an extended operation period, it is necessary to have enough fissile material, i.e., high excess reactivity, at the onset of operation. Since the PMFR is based on a fast neutron spectrum, direct implementation of a burnable absorber concept for the control of excess reactivity would be ineffective. Therefore, a localized moderator concept that encircles the active core has been envisioned for the PMFR which enables the effective utilization of a burnable absorber to achieve low reactivity swing and long-life operation. The modified PMFR design that incorporates a moderator and burnable absorber is presented, where depletion calculation is performed to estimate the reactor lifetime and reactivity swing to assess the feasibility of the proposed design. All the presented neutronic analysis has been conducted based on the Monte Carlo Serpent2 code with ENDF/B-VII.1 library.
