  • RLS algorithms are required for applications to adaptive line enhancers, adaptive equalizers for voiceband telephone and HF modems, and wide-badn digital spectrum mobile raio in which their convergence time and tracking speed are significant. The fast QR RLS algorithm satisfies above the requirements. Its computational complexity is linearly proportional to the tap number of a filter, N and its performance remains numerically stable. From the result of simumulation, the fast QR RLS algorithm represented Cioffi is better than gradient based algorithm in its initial performance when being applied to an adaptive line enhancer for cancelling noise.

Phase Noise Effects on the Pulse Pair Spectrum Moment Estimates in a Doppler Weather Radar

  • A weather radar usually extracts the necessary information from the return Doppler spectrum moment estimates. Phase stability is a very important factor in obtaining accurate and reliable information in a Doppler weather radar system since the system phase noise may seriously degrade the weather spectrum moment estimation quality. These spectrum moment estimates are commonly obtained using the pulse pair method which is simple to implement and fast enough to process an enormous amount of weather radar data in real time. Therefore, an analytical method is developed in this paper to analyze and quantify the phase noise effects on the pulse pair spectrum moment estimates in terms of the phase noise power and broadness.

  • Response spectrum analysis method is widely used for seismic analysis of building structure. Analysis of structural vibration for equipment, machine and moving loads are executed by time history analysis. This method is very complex, difficult and tedious. In this study, maximum response of structure for this case are simply and fast. calculated by mode shape and response spectrum for excitation. At first, Response spectrum and time history analysis for some earthquake is carried and investigate the error of maximum displacement response for R. S. A. Secondly, The process for response spectrum analysis in excitation are calculated, and maximum model response are combined by CQC (Complete Quadratic Combination) methods. Finally, Combining maximum displacement response is compared with one of time history analysis.

라만 스펙트럼 고속 검색 알고리즘 (The Fast Search Algorithm for Raman Spectrum)

  • 최근에 라만스펙트럼에 대한 고속 검색 방법은 많은 관심을 받아왔다. 지금까지 가장 간단하고 널리 사용되는 방법은 주어진 스펙트럼과 데이터베이스 스펙트라 사이의 유클리드 거리를 계산하고 비교하는 방법이다. 하지만 고차원 데이터의 속성으로 검색의 문제는 그리 간단하지 않다. 가장 큰 문제점중의 하나는 검색 방법에 있어서 연산량이 많아 계산 시간이 너무 오래 걸린다는 것이다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위해, 코드워드의 MPS(Mean Pyramids Search)와 PDS(Partial Distortion Search)을 사용하는 알고리즘이 현재 이미지 코딩 분야에서 고속 검색 알고리즘으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 하지만 이 방법은 1차원 데이터의 경우에는 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서 우리는 라만 스펙트럼 데이터에 적합한 3가지 새로운 방법의 고속 검색 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 방법은 벡터의 두 개의 주요한 특징으로 평균과 분산을 사용하여 후보가 될 수 없는 많은 코드워드를 계산하지 않으므로 연산량을 줄이고 계산 시간을 줄여준다. 실험은 1DMPS+PDS와 비교하여 1DMPS Sort+PDS는 42.8%, 1DMPS Sort+PDS는 48.6%, 1DMPS Sort with Sorted Variance+PDS는 55.2%의 성능향상을 보였다. 실험결과는 제안된 알고리즘이 고속 검색에 적합함을 확인시켜 준다.

FAST REACTOR PHYSICS AND COMPUTATIONAL METHODS

  • This paper reviews the fast reactor physics and computational methods. The basic reactor physics specific to fast spectrum reactors are briefly reviewed, focused on fissile material breeding and actinide burning. Design implications and reactivity feedback characteristics are compared between breeder and burner reactors. Some discussions are given to the distinct nuclear characteristics of fast reactors that make the assumptions employed in traditional LWR analysis methods not applicable. Reactor physics analysis codes used for the modeling of fast reactor designs in the U.S. are reviewed. This review covers cross-section generation capabilities, whole-core deterministic (diffusion and transport) and Monte Carlo calculation tools, depletion and fuel cycle analysis codes, perturbation theory codes for reactivity coefficient calculation and cross section sensitivity analysis, and uncertainty analysis codes.

이산푸리에변환과 시계열데이터의 고속 파라미터 추정 (A Fast Parameter Estimation of Time Series Data Using Discrete Fourier Transform)

  • This paper describes a method of parameter estimation of time series data using discrete Fourier transform(DFT). DFT have been mainly used to precisely and rapidly obtain the frequency of a signal. In a dynamic system, a real part of a mode used to learn damping characteristics is a more important factor than the frequency of the mode. The parameter estimation method of this paper can directly estimate modes and parameters, indicating the characteristics of a dynamic system, on the basis of the Fourier transform of the time series data. Real part of a mode estimates by subtracting a frequency of the Fourier spectrum corresponding to 0.707 of a magnitude of the peak spectrum from a peak frequency, or subtracting a frequency of the power spectrum corresponding to 0.5 of the peak power spectrum from a peak frequency, or comparing the Fourier(power) spectrum ratio. Also, the residue and phase of time signal calculate by simple equation with the real part of the mode and the power spectrum that have been calculated. Accordingly, the proposed algorithm is advantageous in that it can estimate parameters of the system through a single DFT without repeatedly calculating a DFT, thus shortening the time required to estimate the parameters.

A Study on Measuring the Speaking Rate of Speaking Signal by Using Line Spectrum Pair Coefficients

  • Speaking rate represents how many phonemes in speech signal have in limited time. It is various and changeable depending on the speakers and the characters of each phoneme. The preprocessing to remove the effect of variety of speaking rate is necessary before recognizing the speech in the present speech recognition systems. So if it is possible to estimate the speaking rate in advance, the performance of speech recognition can be higher. However, the conventional speech vocoder decides the transmission rate for analyzing the fixed period no regardless of the variety rate of phoneme but if the speaking rate can be estimated in advance, it is very important information of speech to use in speech coding part as well. It increases the quality of sound in vocoder as well as applies the variable transmission rate. In this paper, we propose the method for presenting the speaking rate as parameter in speech vocoder. To estimate the speaking rate, the variety of phoneme is estimated and the Line Spectrum Pairs is used to estimate it. As a result of comparing the speaking rate performance with the proposed algorithm and passivity method worked by eye, error between two methods is 5.38% about fast utterance and 1.78% about slow utterance and the accuracy between two methods is 98% about slow utterance and 94% about fast utterances in 30 dB SNR and 10 dB SNR respectively.

연속 응답 스펙트럼 분석에 의한 아치 구조물의 동적 좌굴 특성 (Dynamic Buckling Characteristics of Arch Structures by Running Response Spectrum)

  • 동적 불안정 좌굴현상에 관한 연구는 다소 발표되고 있으나, 주기성을 가진 하중하에서의 동적 좌굴을 다룬 연구는 그리 많지 않은 편이다. 주기성을 가진 하중하에서의 거동은 STEP 하중하에서의 거동과는 매우 다르리라 예상된다. 본 논문에서는 동적 불안정의 기본 메커니즘을 파악하기 위하여 양단 핀으로 고정된 정현형 아치가 정현형 조화하중을 받았을 때의 얕은 아치를 대상으로 한다. 얕은 아치의 동적 간접 좌굴 메커니즘을 파악하기 위하여 STEP 하중뿐만 아니라 정현형 조화하중일 때를 대상으로 한다. 동적 비선형 응답 특성을 알기 위하여 수치적분에 의해 기하학적 비선형 운동방정식을 유도한다. 여기서 얻어진 비선형 변위 응답으로 FFT(Fast Fourier Transform)에 의한 연속 응답 스펙트럼을 구해 동적 불안정 특성에 관해서 분석한다.

Secondary System Initialization Protocol Using FFT-based Correlation Matching for Cognitive Radio Ad-hoc Networks

  • Due to the increasing demand for spectrum resources, cognitive radio networks and dynamic spectrum access draw a lot of research into efficiently utilizing limited spectrum resources. To set up cluster-based CR ad-hoc common channels, conventional methods require a relatively long time to successfully exchange the initialization messages. In this paper, we propose a fast and reliable common channel initialization protocol for CR ad-hoc networks. In the proposed method, the cluster head sequentially broadcasts a system activation signal through its available channels with a predetermined correlation pattern. To detect the cluster head's broadcasting channels and to join the cluster, each member node implements fast Fourier transform (FFT) and computes autocorrelation of an FFT bin sequence for each available channel of the member node. This is compared to the predetermined reference pattern. The join request and channel decision procedures are also presented in this paper. In a simulation study, the performance of the proposed method is evaluated.
