  • 3D printing is attracting attention from all industries as it enables the development of personalized product design to meet consumer needs by establishing a mutual connection system between production, management and consumers. However, there are still limitations to applying them as apparel materials, and research on the recognition of 3D printing or the preference for fashion products is needed to actually commercialize 3D printing in the fashion industry. In this study on the development of various product designs using 3D printing technology in the fashion industry, an analysis of 255 questionnaires was conducted to determine the preferences and purchase intention trends of fashion product design using 3D printing for college students. • In today's world, the design industry is becoming more complex, with the development of networks such as the internet and revolutionary changes in information and telecommunications. As the demand for designers to cope with various situations occurring in these industrial sites or solve problems in practice promptly is required, a capstone design program was developed in collaboration with the industry. Capstone design classes have positive effects on creative problem solving ability, academic achievement and learning satisfaction by allowing students to think and experience the practical problems of the industrial field. It is also effective in improving communication, creative thinking and critical thinking. The purpose of this study is to search for talent training methods needed in the fashion industry and to develop effective programs through capstone design class studies conducted in the fourth grade of fashion design majors from 2017 to 2019 (6 semesters). Through these studies, the aim is to search for talent training methods needed in the fashion industry and to develop effective programs. If the capstone design learning method is used as a method of solving problems through close communication between the company and the educational field as an industry-academia cooperation system, it is expected to be positioned as a field-type human resource education method that is required in the industrial field.

  • The MICE industry is a new industry that combines corporate meetings, intensive tours, conventions and exhibitions. The convention (the international conference itself) is a conception born from the interpretation of multiple industries such as conferences, incentive tourism, exhibitions and fairs. It is therefore necessary to develop products that can contribute to the revitalization of the MICE industry. We will participate in globalization era trends by developing original design with unique color sense as well as traditional beauty and elegance that can represent the Korean Wave in order to develop high value-added fashion cultural products. We examine the formative characteristics of Chogakbo and apply them to the harmony of geometrical characteristics and colors. The morphological characteristics and sewing method of the Korean traditional 'fo' were also used for shirt designs. It is a fashion cultural product that applies to the Korean Cheokagbo design as well as maintains a basic aloha shirt design that can be worn by everyone (regardless of gender and age) to make it globally acceptable. We used a simple and interesting geometric configuration of the surface represented by the surface composition of the patchwork as well as proposed a design costume by 3D clothing simulation work. The research results can be used as basic data for the domestic fashion market and cultural goods market.

  • The emerging Fourth Industrial Revolution has triggered fundamental shifts in the fashion industry. Advanced digital technologies are not only reshaping how the fashion supply chains function, but also requisitioning new skill sets for jobs in this industry. A mismatch in required skills between current and future jobs is a critical issue that needs to be addressed in the fashion industry. Similarly, it is imperative that fashion programs in higher education keep pace with the rapid changes disrupting the fashion sector. Nevertheless, the increasing speed and the magnitude of digital transformation make it challenging to keep fashion curricula up to date. This paper presents the case of a Digital Merchandising course. Using the principles of designing flexible curricula and backward design, this Digital Merchandising course was developed to be flexible and responsive to the changing business environment. Building digital intelligence was the central learning goal for students to accomplish. The paper discusses the conceptual development processes for the course and provides, visual examples of major learning assignments, and a variety of digital tools. Fashion educators are encouraged to consider backward design and flexible curricula design guides as complementary tools to the widely used Bloom's taxonomy.

  • This study investigated the luxury supply chain management called 'See now, Buy now'. This has been a new way of controlling the supply and demand for luxury brands in the fashion industry since 2016. In this study, we explored the backgrounds and impacts of 'See now, Buy now' in the digital era. 'See now, Buy now' was launched by the fashion brand, Burberry in February 2016. It was the first luxury brand to showcase its entire collection using 'See now, Buy now' among the brands which showcase in Paris, Milan, New York, and London fashion weeks. That has not only caused many controversies in the fashion world but also generated followers. In this study, we analyzed 'See now, Buy now' in three aspects, economics, efficiency, and management strategy, and this was done through a literature survey on articles pertaining to 'See now, Buy now' and empirical surveys on Burberry's collections. Based on 'See now, Buy now', Burberry tried a new process of supply and sale. In the era of SNS, the spread of information is getting faster. The speed of SNS and changes in the fashion market combining IT and mobile technology are major changes faced by the fashion industry. 'See now, Buy now', a model of the new supply and demand in luxury fashion brands, should be noted as a new directional aspect for the future of the fashion industry. Since it was a relatively recent trend that started from the September show of Burberry in 2016, there was still a lack of academic discussion or prior research on this phenomenon. Therefore this study aimed to predict future directions by recognizing the importance of 'See now, Buy now' in the fashion industry. Also, based on this research, the significance of this study was to present a management strategy that applies 'See now, Buy now' to the future of the fashion industry in the digital era.

  • This study aimed to investigate the competitive advantages of Chinese fashion industry and firms to Korean fashion industry by applying the generalized double-diamond theory. Data collection was done by internet and fax survey. Questionnaires were distributed to the Korean textiles and apparel firms who entered China for production anuor distribution. List of firms were provided by KOFOTI, KOTRA, and Korea Apparel Industry Association. Total 198 questionnaires were distributed, and 77 questionnaires were used for final analysis. The results were follows. Korea's competitiveness scores of double-diamond model were higher in every aspects, such as demand condition, infra/supportive industry, firms's strategy and competition except factor condition. Glottalization score in double diamond model measured by the degree of glottalization which was determined by international diamond factors which make firm's multinational/international activities possible. Chinese fashion industry's globalization score of factor condition was significantly higher than Korea, but for the rest of aspects, Korean fashion industry showed higher scores. Therefore, Korean fashion firms can overcome comparative disadvantage of factor condition by utilizing Chinese fashion industry no matter what type of entry. In addition, considering the growth rate of Chinese fashion industry and its power of influence in the world market, the entry to the global market of the Korean fashion industry can be possible.
