  • This study examined the wastewater at a livestock farm, and found that the dairy wastewater from the milking parlor had a lower concentration than the piggery wastewater, and that it was produced at a rate under 1.3 ㎥/day in a single farmhouse. The amount of dairy wastewater was determined based on the performance of the milking machine, the maintenance method of the milking parlor, and the amount of milk production allocated for each farmhouse, not by the area. The results confirmed that both dairy wastewater treatment processes, specifically those using Hanged Bio-Compactor (HBC) and Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR), can fully satisfy the water quality standards of discharge. The dairy wastewater has a lower amount and concentration than piggery wastewater, meaning it is less valuable as liquid fertilizer, but it can be easily degraded using the conventional activated sludge process in a public sewage treatment plant. Therefore, discharging the dairy wastewater after individual treatment was expected to be a more reasonable method than consigning it to the centralized wastewater treatment plant. The effluent after the SBR process showed a lower degree of color than the HBC effluent, which was attributed to biological adsorption. In the case of the milking parlor in the livestock farm, the concentrations of the effluents obtained after HBC and SBR treatments both satisfied water quality standards for the discharge of public livestock wastewater treatment plants at 99% confidence intervals, and the concentrations of total nitrogen and phosphorous in untreated wastewater were even lower than the water quality standards of discharge. Therefore, we need to discuss strengthening the water quality standards to reduce environmental pollution.

  • Recently, environmental pollution by livestock excretion is gathering strength as livestock industry is advanced on a large scale. Bio-gas is generated more than about 70 precent if remove impurities in the course of extracting bio-gas to use livestock excretion. In this paper, we developed a device that can use it in heating after extracting bio-gas from livestock excretion collected in livestock farmhouse and can supply electricity by using generator developed in itself. Also, because this system is epoch-making no discharge system to solve smear of existing method, it is expected that we have effects to prevent environmental pollution and get alternation energy and burden on the institution to treat livestock excretion of a pig breeder is solved, if use it.

  • This study inverstigates growing seedling of onion for 91 farmhouses at Muan, Hampyeong and Sinan which are major areas of production from Jan. to Apr., 1994 to enhance the research effect of onion and then the following results are obtained. Over 60% of the farmhouses have cultured onion continuously over 11years. Early mature variety cultured is over 9 varieties and among them Kinkyu variety is cultured most frequently. Late mature variety is over 13 and Changyongdaego, Bonganwhang and Chunjudaego varieties are cultured most. Most of the farmhouses used seeds less than 6 dl at small area less than $40m^2$ and especially in the case of early variety ,they purchased it at seed stores with 15,000-20,000 won/dl and sowed them with broadcasting method. Amount of fertilizer level of onion seed is ranged from nonfertilizer level to $16.8g/m^ and most of the farmhouses employ molding after seeding with straw and compost and they did not use thinning. Irrigation is performed by 1-4 times before sprouting of onion seed and most of the farmhouses transplant long nursery plant over 46 days hand weeding is used.

  • The study is designed to understand on the farmer's life in Yanbian, China. The major findings are: 1) The people in farmhouse use wood as a fuel for cooking and the method of cooking is traditional style using their iron pots. The floor heating of the house and cooking food can be carried out simultaneously. Most of the farmer use pump system. 2) Korean traditional foods should be inherited and they usually eat rice. Kimchi, Soy-sauce, and Hot-pepper paste are mostly made at home. 3) Housewives do actively participate in income management. Results indicated that overall Korean immigrants in China maintain their ethnic identity, ethnic language and culture.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the architectural change of the modern Korean farm-houses. Regional boundary of this study is confined to Pocheon-Gun, and the object is mainly forty-two farm-houses as long as sixty years since it was built. An analysis is made on the change of spaces, facilities and finished materials of farm-houses. The results of this study, An-Chae have changed for the more comfortable living conditions through the spatial changes as like the fittest facilities with spatial extension and integration. And in Arae-Chae, unlike An-Chae, the old and unused space often have transformed to the other function and the its facilities remained still unimproved.

  • If it does not underestimata the livestock feces, it is analyzed that thc potential energy of consumption is sufficient. If consequently economic value evaluation of the livestock feces, environmentally use, the use of opportune and proper quantity, the logistics system development which connected the transportation and scattering, environmentally plan of public control facilities for livestock feces as a precondition of livestock feces consuming is been sufficient, the livestock feces problem of both farmhouse and the area which occurs excessively will be solve more economically and will be the possibility resources more efficiently as chemical fertilizer transfer.

  • Estimations of paddy field area are important for agricultural water supply planning. Especially these estimations have to be excused by drainage basin. In this research, we developed a paddy field estimation model considering shift-share effects such as national growing, structural, local effects. National growing effects are estimated by adopting the result of KREI-ASMO model which predict farm land area in national level. Paddy field structural effects are estimated using statistical data about farmhouse numbers and cultivation areas. Local allocation effects are calculated by differences of estimations and real data. The results using data from 1998 to 2003 show that developed model estimates 2006 paddy field areas in each province in 5% error and is applicable to predict future change of paddy field.

  • In order to provide fundamental data for the achievement of safe environmental condition, investigation of the actual state of the nutriculture practices in Korea was carried out. The result obtained are summarized as follows. 1. Cultivation area of nutriculture was 6 ha and culture types included deep flow technique(43%), nutrient film technique(45%), gravel culture(6%), chaff charcoal culture(3%) and rockwool culture(3%). 2. Greenhouses were mostly made of pentite pipe frames and covered by polyethylene film, and culture beds were handy combination of cement blocks, concrete and styrofoam, which were not standard products. 3. Development of nutriculture system appropriate to our actual circumstances and improvement of establishments are required. 4. Since there was not farmhouse that performs the environmental measurement and environmental conditions of cultivation were very limited. sensor applied environmental control technology of nutriculture should be developed.

  • Actual states of energy utilizations were investigated and analyzed on three representative rural villages in Chungcheongnam-Do. Rural residents were almost using the ondol boiler as a heating facility and oil(diesel, kerosene) and electricity(night thermal-storage power service) as a heating energy. There were a few households using briquette or firewood in a fuel hole with Korean hypocaust. Most of their cooking facilities were gas ranges using LPG. The most popular hot-water supply system was an oil boiler and the next was an electricity boiler. The amount of energy use in a rural household generally showed 20,000 to 40,000 won/month of the electric power rate, 400 to 800 liter/year of the oil and 60 to 120 kg/year of the LPG. Prompt measures should be taken to promote the spread of new and renewable energy such as solar heat, biomass and wind power, etc.
