  • Microstrip antennas have many applications in wireless communication system. This paper propose a analytical far-field pattern of radiation for application of the wireless communication. The triangular slot antenna fed by micorstrip line is proposed at resonance frequency 10 GHz. The simulation results of the electromagnetic field radiation pattern, S parameter, characteristic of input impedance are obtain by using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The analytical space in FDTD analysis are $50{\times}171{\times}120$ cells with the cell dimension ${\Delta}x=0.152\;mm$, ${\Delta}y={\Delta}z=0.15\;mm$.

  • Non-destructive technique to measure internal structure and constant distribution of material can be widely used to exploration of mineral resources, identification of underground cables and buried pipelines, and diagnostic imaging in medical area. In this paper, we considered 2-dimensional EM scattering problem. Radiation pattern in far field is estimated by using some measured information obtained from near-field solutions.

  • In this study, a beam steering measurement system was developed to perform functions such as far-field beam steering and near-field beam focusing for TX/RX modes in the near file of the AESA radar. The beam steering measurement system consists of a spherical near-field scanner, an antenna positioner, a near-field controller, a network analyzer, a radar control system, a verification radar, a simulated radio, and an AESA radar. Using the developed system, the characteristics of TX/RX patterns before and after installation of radome to AESA radar were measured, and the beam pattern was analyzed through conversion to far field-after near-field measurement. The boresight error of the radar antenna device was measured, and it was confirmed that the main lobes were formed the same before and after the simulated radar dome was mounted.

  • In this paper, we present a spatial perturbation method to control the optical patterns in semiconductor microresonators in the far-field configuration. We propose a fast all-optical switch which operates at a low light level. The switching beam controls the behavior of output beams with strong intensities. The method has been applied successfully to different optical patterns such as rolls, squares, and hexagons.

  • The effectiveness of the phased array antenna in wireless power transfer systems is due to its ability to form a beam pattern towards the desired direction. To maximize the efficiency of wireless power transfer through beamforming, the transmitter must recognize the information on the optimal transmission path. To achieve this, the transmitter usually transmits pilot signals periodically and the receiver extracts the optimal beamforming weights using the pilot signals. The receiver then feeds the beamforming weights back to the transmitter. In general, the amount of feedback increases with the number of antennas, which causes feedback overhead when there is a large number of antennas. In this paper, we propose a feedback simplification scheme based on the far-field approximation method. The simulation results are provided to validate the impact of the simplified feedback on the beam pattern.

  • In order to verify the performance of the two-stage iterative Fourier transform algorithm[Hankook Kwanghak Hoeji 11, 47 (2000)], a number of phase-only diffractive pattern elements which produce simple 16x16-pixel intensity patterns useful in the field of optical information processing have been designed and their performance has been compared with that from the nonlinear least-squares algorithm[Appl. Opt. 36, 7297(1977)] which is computationally intensive. for all intensity patterns, elements designed by the former algorithm show better overall signal-to noise ratio and uniformity, although they show essentially the same diffraction efficiency. In the case of continuous phase elements, they show far superior uniformity. Computationally,. the former algorithm is far more efficient than the latter.

  • In this paper, the synthesis method of multibeam radiation pattern with multi-directional beams and nulls is proposed. Genetic algorithm is applied for the optimization of amplitude and phase of the feeding signal into each element that is structured in planar array of single patch antenna with an arbitrary field distribution. To verify the validity of the proposed method, $2{\times}2$ planar array antenna is used for the measurement and the measured far field radiation pattern is compared with the simulation result. As a result, the synthesis of multibeam radiation pattern is implemented by the optimization of amplitude and phase of the feeding signal into each element of $8{\times}8$ planar array antenna system.

  • The beam patterns of source array and changes in the far-field signatures are compared and analyzed each other in order to identify the seismic capability affected by the misfired source at the multi-channel seismic source array. In the primary pulse amplitude of far-field signature, the 66% of seismic capacity are sustained if approximately 40% of source are misfired among whole gun volume. When the sources with the same distances are misfired at the 154㎐, the beam width of the long- and wide-array which is identical regardless of arraying pattern. The beam width has a tendency to narrow now from 41 to 34 according to increase the volume of misfired source at the long-array beam pattern. Therefore, the source array of small volume are suitable for the shallow seismic survey because of producing adequate beam patterns with narrow beam width.

  • We have investigated the effect of the quality of 1.3 um distributed feed back laser diode (DFB-LD) on the design of anti-reflection (AR) coatings. Optimal condition of AR coating to prevent internal feedback from both facets and reduce the reflection-induced intensity noise of laser diode was simulated with Macleod Simulator. Coating materials used in this work were ${Ti_3}{O_5}$ and $SiO_2$, of which design thickness were 105 nm and 165 nm, respectively. AR coating films were deposited by Ion-Assisted Deposition system. The electrical and optical properties of 1.3 um laser diode were characterized by Bar tester and Chip tester. Threshold current and slop-efficiency of DFB-LD were 27.56 mA 0.302 W/A. Far field pattern and wavelength of DFB-LD were $22.3^{\circ}(Horizontal){\times}24.4^{\circ}$ (Vertical), 1313.8 nm, respectively.

  • In this paper, a performance analysis of waveguide broad-wall slot array antenna for millimeter-wave seeker in Ka-band was performed as using near-field measurement. The measurement of slot array antenna was conducted in both far-field and near-field. And the validation of near-field test in millimeter band was confirmed. It was confirmed that the beam pattern characteristics including beam width and side lobe level of the slot array antenna that performed the verification were the same. Differenced in the side lobe level of azimuth and elevation beam pattern were verified to be less than 1dB. Additionally, the new antenna aperture distribution was extracted as using back-projection method modifying the near-field data and then introduced the method conducting performance analysis of array antenna.
