  • A new class of electronically commutated brushless motor, the flux-switching motor(FSM) is gradually emerging in power tools and household appliances especially fan application. This motor offers advantages of both high-power density and relatively high efficiency This paper presents the principle of the FSM and design of the 12/6 pole FSM drive system. Finally, test results of the prototype motor are provided to verify a validity of the fan application.

  • Thermo motor that uses driving part as heating part is different from general fan heater. As it uses energy that drives rotor and generate heat at the same coil, it is simpler and cheaper than general fan heater. In this study, shaded-pole motor was used that is low cost and simple in spite of low efficiency.

  • Nowaday it is trend to be one cooling radiator and cooling fan from separate engine radiator and air condition radiator in cars. For the cooling fan is developed a electrical motor which is limited in size. The motor should be working in silence and have no electromagnetic Problem and high efficiency. In this paper will be proposed some parameters for improvement of the efficiency of a BLDC motor which is developed for the cooling system after theoretical and experimental investigation.

  • This paper investigates the restart performance of sensorlessly controlled IPMSM Fan motor free-running in middle or high speed range just after inverter power off. There could be some difficulties to extract exact position information by using conventional sensorless control for restarting the motor because of stopped inverter operation. To solve this problem, we proposes to use low cost hall sensor. Using a hall sensor with SMO (Sliding Mode Observer) give us a solution to facilitate rotor position information extraction. The algorithm in this paper shows a certain way of the restarting method.

  • Reliability of automotive parts has been one of the most interesting fields in the automotive industry. Especially, a small DC motor was issued because of the increasing adoption for passengers' safety and convenience. For several years, small DC motors have been studied and some problems of a life test method were found out. The field condition was not considered enough in the old life test method. It also needed a lot of test time. For precise life estimation and accelerated life test, new life test procedure was developed based on measured field condition. The vibration condition on vehicle and latent force on fan motor shaft were measured and correlated with each other. We converted the acceleration data into the load data and calculated the equivalent load from integrated value. We found the relationship which can be used for accelerated life test without changing the severity by using different loading factors.

  • This research is to verify the cooling effect of the acting surface on the rotary motor using heat pipe and conventional cooling fan. In order to show the cooling performance of the rotary motor and heat pipe with the fin-typed heat sink, the surface temperature of the motor and condenser was measured in real time. The experiments were also conducted as for not only cooling device installed with heat pipe only, but with heat pipe and conventional cooling fan simultaneously.

허브 형상에 따른 정풍량 환기팬의 유동과 성능특성 (Flow Behavior and Performance Characteristics of Constant Air Volume Fan According to Different Hub Shape)

  • The constant air volume flow fan can maintain constant flow rate to the wide range of exit pressure. Therefore, the use of this fan is increasing recently for ventilation of high building. Brushless DC motor is adopted to this fan because that has advantages of compactness and performance. But this type of motor protrude from impeller hub side to fan inlet. The Impeller inlet flow is influenced by size of this obstacle called hub. In this paper, the influence of hub shape on the fan performance characteristics are experimentally and numerically analyzed. CFX 12.0 is used to perform the fan internal flow analysis and numerical results are compared with the experiments. Depending on hub shape, internal loss is generated and the performance and efficiency are reduced. The best performance is occurred around $h/b_1$ = 0.25. The results of this study will be contribute to initial design of constant air volume flow fan development.

무선계측기를 이용한 회전자팬 및 엔드링에서의 대류 열전달 (Convective heat transfer on the rotor fan and endring of the TEFC induction motor with telemetry system)

  • Recently, computer modelling is increasingly used as a design tool, which requires more detailed data for heat transfer coefficients in various regions of the induction motor. But there are little information about those of rotor fan and endring because of difficulty in measuring signals in rotating bodies. In the present studies, the temperature signals were precisely measured with self-developed telemetry system, which had multi-channels and high rotational speed. After some losses were compensated, the heat transfer coefficients of the rotor endring and fan surfaces were measured. Minimum heat transfer region was existed with endcap plate distance and maximum heat transfer was found at some rotor fan width. It was also studied that how the guide plate and endcap inside rib effected on the rotor heat transfer. The higher heat transfer were obtained with decreasing guide plate distance, increasing the number and height of endcap inside rib. The correlation equations of the results were obtained and compared with others. Above results of the heat transfer coefficients can be used as basic data for cooling design of the various kind of motors.

배연용 축류팬의 내열 신뢰성 향상 (Improvement of the Heat Resistance Reliability of an Axial Smoke Exhaust Fan)

  • In this paper, the heat resistance reliability of an axial smoke exhaust fan was investigated. An axial smoke exhaust fan should be capable of operating at $250^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The heat resistance reliability was evaluated by the heat resistance reliability test. A B10 life with a 90% confidence level was estimated to be about 48 minute. The failure occurred in the motor due to high temperature. The main failure mechanisms of the motor were melting of bond and insulating paper and burning of insulating materials in the coil. The heat resistance reliability was improved by changing the way to unite the core and the coil and by replacing the insulating paper and the insulating materials of the coil. A B10 life with a 90% confidence level of a modified axial smoke exhaust fan was estimated to be over 120 minute.
