  • The purpose of this study is to find out the transition of meaning and terminology of support spaces in Korean houses based on preliminary studies and analysis of Korean novels. The major findings are as follows. The planning and location of the kitchen and its support spaces developed slowly until the 1970s. Buok has been the terminology of support spaces that appeared often and continuously in novels. The word Bongdang was mentioned only before the 1900s. The new words such as Sikdang. Buokaband appeared after the 1960s,. Jubang appeared after the 1980s. The meaning of kitchen space described in novels were various. Thpically the kitchen was used for cooking washing dishes keeping kitchen utensils foods and miscellaneous goods. Exveptionally the kitchen was the place for quarreling with others weeping secretly hiding washing clothes etc. The kitchen was also a symbol of the wealth of the family but many kitchens were usually described in novels as the unpleasant places. Even though most users of the kitchen in novels were women men also used the kitchen in novels were women men also used the kitchen without any restrictions. however the activities of men and women of the upper class in the kitchen were never described in any novels.

소설에 나타난 사랑공간 용어의 종류와 그 의미에 관한 연구 (A Study on Sarang space Terminology it's Kinds and Meaning Described in the Korean novels)

  • Sarang is a man's living space or quarter for the heir and his eldest son who would succeed and a hosting place for male vistor. The purpose of this study is to extract the Sarang space terminology described in the 17 Korean novels and find its meaning by comprehending whole paragraph. The major findings were summerized as follows; 1. Among the Sarang space terminology, Sarang meant either 'Sarangchae' or 'Sarangbang'. Its exact meaning could be understood by comprehending whole paragraph. 2. Regarding to the size of Sarang space terminology, there were two kinds. One was clearly quantified terminology such as 'two kans Sarangbang' and 'One and half kans Sarang'. The other was vaguely quantified teminology such as 'large Sarang' and 'small Sarang'. 3. Regarding to the location of Sarang space terminology, 'upper Sarang and lower Sarang'. 'inner Sarang and outer Sarang', 'fore Sarang and back Sarang' were found to be used. 4. Regarding to the user of Sarang space terminology, it was for male mainly. However since 1930, some of female were also described as a user in the Korean novels.

조경학 연구에서 자연성 개념의 다의적 체계 연구 (Poly Synonyms Study on Naturalness in Landscape Architecture)

  • 국내 조경학 연구에서 자연성 개념은 물리적 공간에서부터 인식적 체계까지 그 범주가 방대하여 용어를 정의하기에 어려움이 있다. 본 연구는 체계적 문헌 고찰(systematic review, SR)을 통하여 문헌에서 활용된 '자연성(naturalness)'의 개념과 평가 속성을 정리하고 자연성의 의미를 구성하는 개별 속성의 범위를 파악하였다. 또한, 선행연구에서 구분한 개별 속성을 인지언어학 연구 방식의 하나인 의미 연쇄(meaning chain) 원리로 파악하여 국내 조경학 논문 중 자연성을 대상으로 한 논문들에 적용하여 다의적 체계를 정리하였다. 의미 연쇄(meaning chain)는 원형의미를 중심으로 가족 유사성에 기인하여 연쇄적으로 의미가 확장되어 가는 단어를 파악하기에 적합한 방식으로서, 자연성 평가 항목 분류에 따라 그 차원을 구분하고 국내 학계에서 논의되는 자연성 개념의 다의적 의미 연쇄 체계를 고찰하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국외 조경학 문헌을 통해 추출한 자연성의 속성은 원생상태로 인지되는 자연, 인위적 개입이 없는 상태로서의 자연, 시각적 경관으로서의 자연, 경험으로서의 자연 4개 영역으로 분류되며 세부 13개 속성으로 정리되었다. 둘째, 이러한 세부속성은 국내 조경학 연구에도 전반적으로 부합하나 그 구체적 사례가 달랐고, 시간의 축적 인지에 있어 한국적 맥락이 제시되었으며, 자연성 속성 간 상호충돌이 있을 수 있음을 시사하였다.

Avant-Garde Fashion: A Case Study of Martin Margiela

  • We studied the meaning of the term avant-garde in relation to clothing of the 1980s and 1990s by examining the media's perceptions of Martin Margiela, a Belgian deconstructionist designer who was often labeled as avant-garde by journalists, scholars, and fashion critics in the late 20th century. A five-step content analysis method described by Paoletti (1982) was used to conduct the research. Newspaper and magazine articles in the 1980s and 1990s were analyzed using a set of existing avant-garde characteristics developed by Crane (1987) to determine if those journalists' perceptions matched the characteristics described by Crane. Results indicated that the journalists' critiques and descriptions matched the avant-garde characteristics described by Crane (1987). Including a subjective element to the conceptualization of the term explains how journalists described Margiela's designs despite Japanese designers' use of similar techniques before him. We (re) conceptualize the term's latter 20th century meaning and shifting dialogue to include a subjective element.

간호대학생이 인식하는 품위 있는 죽음 (The Meaning of Dignified Dying Perceived by Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of dignified dying expressed by undergraduate nursing students. Method: Data were collected by in-depth interviews with fifteen nursing students. Conventional qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the data. Result: There were six major themes and eleven sub-categories from the analysis. Six major themes include death with no artificial life support, obedient death as a human nature, death with family members, meaningful death, no self destructive death, and sympathized death receiving from health care providers. Conclusion: The result of this study suggests that the nursing curriculum related to dignified dying can be developed and may affect the teaching and learning settings to improve end-of-life care performance among undergraduate nursing students, as well as, students in human service areas and health care providers.

두경부암 환자 가족의 돌봄 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구 (A Phenomenological Study of Experiences of Family Care Givers of Patient with Head and Neck Cancer)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 두경부암 환자를 돌보는 가족들의 돌봄 경험의 의미와 본질을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 방법 : 개인들의 공통된 체험의 본질과 의미를 기술하는데 적합한 현상학적 연구 방법을 이용하여 5명의 두경부암 환자 가족을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 결과 : 자료 분석 결과 24개의 주제, 9개의 주제 모음이 도출되었고, '충격적이고 막막한 미로 같은 현실', '가족구성원의 신체상의 변화로 세상과 단절됨', '가족 탈진', '성숙한 돌봄을 위한 가족의 도약'의 4개의 범주가 드러났다. 결론 : 본 연구를 통해 두경부암 환자 가족의 돌봄 경험을 더 깊이 있게 살펴보고 이해할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 기반으로 두경부암 환자 가족의 어려움을 지지해 줄 수 있는 전문적인 지지 프로그램의 개발이 마련되었으면 한다.

An Analysis of John Bowlby's Mourning Stages in Family Art Therapy as a Way to Help the Family Mourning Process

  • Purpose: Pediatric palliative care is a rapidly developing multidisciplinary approach that supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families. However, there is limited evidence on how to effectively support bereaved parents and siblings. The purpose of this study is to explore the therapeutic impact of art therapy for bereaved families, in accordance with John Bowlby's four-stage theory of mourning. Methods: This single-case study employed the consensual qualitative research method. Art therapy records of bereaved families were reviewed individually, and records from one case were selected. Verbal statements made during the art therapy sessions and photocopies of the artworks were analyzed to understand the mourning process of the family. Results: A total of 113 statements and 12 artworks from 19 art therapy sessions were analyzed. As the art therapy progressed, each family member exhibited a pattern of engaging in more positive and healthy conversations in daily life, demonstrating the final stage of mourning: reorganization and recovery. The family dynamics also revealed that they reconstructed their inner world and redefined the meaning of loss, which is the final stage of mourning. The art therapy provided a safe environment for the family, allowing them to fulfill their wishes and regain the strength needed for recovery. Conclusion: This study suggests that art therapy supports bereaved families in alleviating their psychological difficulties, engaging in a healthy mourning process, and functioning as members of society. Further research is needed to better understand the effect of art therapy as a bereavement support tool in pediatric palliative care.

별업(別業) '유회당' 원림 하거원(何去園)의 의미경관 해석과 환경설계기법 (A Study on the Meaning Landscape and Environmental Design Techniques of Yoohoedang Garden(Hageowon : 何去園) of Byulup(別業) Type Byulseo(別墅))

  • 권이진(1668~1734)의 문집(유회당집)에 수록된 기문에 근거하여 별업형 별서 유회당 원림(하거원)의 의미경관과 환경설계기법을 추적하였는바, 첫째, 유회당 권이진은 대전 보문산 남쪽 무수동 마을 뒷동산 일대에 20여 년 동안 3단계에 걸쳐 선묘, 별업, 원림, 강학처 등 별업형 별서원림을 조성했다. 즉, 초창기 마을 뒷동산에 부친의 묘를 자리 잡아 별업(유회당)을 조성했고, 중반기에 연못(납오지), 원림(반환원), 선묘를 보호하고 후손의 강학을 위한 여경암과 거업재 등을 조성했으며, 후반기에 유회당을 증축하고, 동쪽 영역을 확충하여 하거원 원림을 완성했다. 둘째, 풍수적 입지 체계하의 무수동 마을에 자리 잡은 유회당 별업은 본제 살림집(안동 권씨 종가), 별업(유회당), 선묘소, 하거원(원림), 여경암(강학처) 등 별업형 별서가 갖추어야 할 공간요소를 모두 포함하고 있는 대표적 사례라 하겠다. 셋째, 유불선(儒佛仙)에 기반한 의미경관 요소가 작용되었는데, (1) 부모님 추모, (2) 가문 화합, (3) 절개, (4) 덕, (5) 고매한 인간 염원, (6) 상서로움, (7) 은일자의 삶, (8) 가문 번영과 학문 발전, (9) 선조의 은혜, (10) 선경세계, (11) 묘역보존, (12) 불로장생의 염원 등을 들 수 있다. 넷째, 선영 묘역을 조성한 후 13년에 걸쳐 조성한 하거원은 계류를 따라 3개의 연못이 어우러진 수경원을 조성했으며, 5개의 대(臺)와 3곳의 대숲, 그리고 석가산 등을 갖추어 선경의 이상세계를 구축하였다. 다섯째, 소나무, 단풍, 철쭉, 진달래, 감나무, 대나무, 버드나무, 석류, 사계화, 산당화, 왜철쭉, 복숭아, 연꽃, 국화, 작약, 모란, 장미, 벽오동, 무궁화, 배롱나무, 자두와 살구, 매화, 반송, 잣나무, 회양목, 단내 등 수 많은 조경식물종을 도입하여 시정(詩情)을 통한 낭만성, 의인화를 통한 상징성과 이상향 표출, 사계절 경색을 고려한 다양성 등을 꾀하였다. 여섯째, 경관석의 활용은 자연암석을 그대로 이용하는 진경(眞景)기법, 수경요소와 연계, 석연지와 화계 등을 이용한 점경물 기법, 의미경관의 진수를 보여주는 축경형 석가산기법 등을 들 수 있다. 그리고 수경관의 특징은 자연계류와 지형조건(동쪽계곡)을 고려한 물의 적극적 활용, 계류를 따라 원림의 각 공간을 리듬감 있게 물길로 연계하는 생태적 코리도 역할, 활수담, 몽정, 호수와 복수 등 철학적 가치를 연계시킨 의미경관의 대입, 물성을 이용한 청각과 시각 등 이목구비(耳目口鼻)의 오감만족 체험 공간화 등을 들 수 있다.

출산경험에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Childbirth Experience in Primiparas)

  • This study was intended to provide women who are supposed to experience childbirth with effective nursing care exploring the childbirth experience. The purpose of this paper is to give an answer to the question of what the childbirth experience is, and phenomenological method has been used for that purpose. 17 primiparous mothers right after delivery in one university hospital of J city were served as subjects for this research. Data were collected June to October, 1993 through in depth interview with subjects using unstructured and open questions about the childbirth experience. Van Kaam's phenomenological analysis method was used for the analysis of the data. The results of the study are summarized as follows : The contents of the experience which primiparous mothers had undergone through childbirth were pain, fear, worry, relief, lightness, thankfulness, unsatisfactory, unreality, holiness for a new life, identifying the meaning of life, becoming a mother. 1. Experience before delivery Mothers experienced pain, fear, worry, unsatisfactory, relief, and thankfulness before delivery. Subjects' descriptions about the pain appeared to be various ; unbearable pain, bearable pain, anticipated pain. And their reactions were also various ours ; some endured pain, sought alternative method i.e., surgery, didn't want to reexperience it, or accepted it as women's fate. Subjects experienced fear for anticipated pain, suffering pain, and possible delayed delivery progress and were worried about delivery progress and baby wellbeing. Also, Subjects were unsatisfied with professionals' unfaithful attitude, their spouses' absence, and the ignorance of their pain. But subjects became relieved at the accustomed surroundings, good progress of delivery, support of family, care of professionals and support of other family. And they expressed their thanks to the professionals and family members for doing their best and also to their mothers who gave birth to them. 2. Experience after delivery Subjects experienced lightness, thankfulness, unsatisfactory, worry, unreality, holiness for a new life, identifying the meaning of life, becoming a mother after delivery. Mothers experienced lightness from the fact that it is over, and freshness right after delivery. They were thankful that they delivered vaginally and had an easy delivery. Subjects who delivered female baby were unsatisfied and some were worried about rearing the baby. By confessing, "I have no specific feeling, I am very confused, It is unrealistic, I feel strange", they expressed the unrealistic aspect of childbirth experience. Subjects felt holiness for a new life for novelty and birth of life. They identified the meaning of life from the fact that they felt worthy, fulfilled their duty, had their own baby, accomplished an important affair. After they experienced what it is to be a mother, they realized with it is being a mother and had a rearing expectation for the baby. The results of the study will provide basic data for caring the childbearing women.

외국인 며느리를 맞이한 시어머니의 가족적응경험에서 나타난 부담감에 대한 현상학적 연구 (The Phenomenological Study on the Sense of Pressure Shown from the Family Adjustment Experience of Mothers-in-Law with Married Immigrant Women)

  • 본 연구는 현상학적 방법을 적용하여 외국인 며느리를 맞이한 시어머니들의 가족적응경험에서 나타난 부담감의 의미와 본질을 탐색하고 이해함으로써 이들 시어머니들과 가족들이 함께 적응하고 살아가는 우리사회의 이해를 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구참여자들은 5명이며, 이들을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하여 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구방법으로 분석하였다. 외국인 며느리를 맞이한 시어머니들의 가족적응경험에서 나타난 부담감의 경험은 7개의 범주와 31개의 주제로 분류되었다. 경험의 7가지 범주는, '아들결혼에 대한 부담감', '마뜩잖은 며느리에 대한 부담감', '서운한 며느리로 인한 부담감', '걱정스러운 아들내외와 사는 부담감', '외국인 며느리 맞이로 인한 부담감', '딸에게 기대는 사돈에 대한 부담감', '미래에 대한 부담감'으로 나타났다. 아들의 국제결혼을 통해 낯선 사회문화 환경을 배경으로 한 외국인 며느리를 맞이하게 된 시어머니들이 가족 내외부의 다양한 도전들에 대처하고 적응해 나가는 가족적응 과정을 어떻게 경험하는지 이해할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 가족복지 실천에 기여하고 다문화가족의 지원과 우리사회의 이해를 위한 기초자료가 될 것이다.
