  • The family of unidirectional continuous fiber reinforced polymeric composites are currently used in automotive bumper beams and load floors. The material properties and mechanical characteristics of the compression molded parts are determined by the curing behavior, fiber orientation and formation of knit lines, which are in turn determined by the mold filling parameters. In this paper, a new model is presented which can be used to predict the 3-dimensional flow under consideration of the slip of mold-composites and anisotropic viscosity of composites during compression molding of unidirectional fiber reinforced thermoplastics for isothermal state. The composites is treated as an incompressible Newtonian fluid. The effects of longitudinal/transverse viscosity ratio A and slip parameter $\alpha$ on the buldging phenomenon and mold filling patterns are also discussed.

  • Commercial formulation of fungicides was studied in the golf course for evaluation against Typhula incarnata causal agents of gray snow mold. Efficacies of fungicides application, fungicide mixture, fungicides applied method (irrigation and spray) and fungicides applied time (early fall and late fall) were evaluated for their influence on the chemical control of gray snow mold of turfgrass during the winter season in Yongpyeong golf course, Korea. Unsprayed control has significantly more disease severity than three fungicides (azoxystrobin, propiconazole, and tebuconazole) were applied to field plots. Effect of three fungicides was over 80% with control value for controlling gray snow mold on Kentucky bluegrass and creeping bentgrass species. Effect of fungicide mixture with different family groups had an over 93% control value of gray snow mold on Kentucky bluegrass species. It was not significantly difference in fungicidal effect according to applied method (irrigation and spray) with azoxystrobin on Kentucky bluegrass and creeping bentrasss species. Effect of fungicides applied time was a significantly difference on disease control by tebconazole early fall spray.

  • Chaenomeles sinensis, called as Chinese quince, belongs to the family Rosaceae and is widely distributed in Korea, China, and Japan. A microorganism was isolated from part of a twig of C. sinensis that showed an abnormal appearance. The microorganism was identified as the slime mold Stemonaria longa of the division Myxomycota, which was previously unrecorded in Korea. The present study reports the morphological characteristics of the isolated fungus and a phylogenetic relationship based on the ${\beta}$-tubulin gene sequences.

  • This paper studied what kind of foods were served how often in the table of the Royal family birthday parties by analyzing 18 sets of the Royal family birthday party menu with respect to the rank of Royal family for each season respectively among all the kinds of food menu of Chosun Dynasty. From this sudy a good representation of primary Royal King's birthday menu could be drown. The menu of the King was most in variety. And the King was served in the range of 46 to 74 kinds of food and its number of dishes varied 28 to 40, and the other royal family were served in the range of 19 to 44 kinds of foods and its number of dishes varied 15 to 26. The menu included variable dishes such as Yoomilkwa (fried cookies 油蜜果) 7, Gangjung 17 (fried rice cookies 姜?) 17, Dasik (mold cookies 茶食) 8, Suksilkwa (cooked fruits 熟實果) 1, Jungkwa (compoted fruit 正果) 1, Byung (rice cakes 餠) 25, Umchung (punch 飮淸) 4, Sengka (fresh fruits 生果) 21, Jusik (main meal 主食) 4, Chanpum (side dishes 饌品) 27, Jomipum (sauce, honey, mustard 調味品 ) 3.

  • During the injection molding process an excessive packing can occur in the smaller volume cavity because of volumetric difference of the family-mold. It causes warpage by increased residual stress in the product and flesh by over packing. In this study, we used a variable-runner system for the filling balance of the cavities by changing the cross-sectional area of a runner, and confirmed the filling imbalance by temperature and pressure sensors. We carried out experiments to examine the influence of types of resins such as LDPE/ABS/PA6,6 on the filling balancing of the system, in order to help mold designers, who can easily adopt the variable-runner system to their design. We also examined filling imbalance in the system with CAE analysis.

  • An analysis of the current water leak status of understand structure (underground parking lots, staircases, plumbing systems, water reservoirs, etc.) of multi-family housing in South Korea shows that water leaks are found from cracks in all areas of the underground structure caused by the degradation environment (water pressure by underground water, humidity, temperature, earth pressure, soil behaviour and vibration, etc.), which result in various problems, including mold, malodour, debonding of finishing materials, exfoliation, breakout, water leaks in electrical boxes, efflorescence, sedimentation of calcium hydroxide, decoloration, rusting, damages and pollution among others. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the current status of water leaks in underground structure and use the results as the basic data for developing a standard guideline for water leaks and maintenance by parts of the underground structure of multi-family housing.

  • Cypripedium japonicum is known to be the indigenous plant to Korea, Japan, and China. However, C. japonicum represents the most critically endangered plant species in South Korea. The plant is esthetically pleasing due to its flower, which is larger than any other orchidaceous species. Disease symptoms relating to gray mold were observed on C. japonicum in May 2019. The suspected pathogen was successfully isolated from the symptomatic leaf tissue and conducted a pure culture of the fungi. The conidia formed consisted of a colorless or light brown single cell, which was either egg or oval-shaped with a size of 7.1 to 13.4 × 5.2 to 8.6 ㎛. Molecular phylogenetic relationship analysis was also confirmed that the pathogen concerned belonging to the family of Botrytis cinerea. Therefore, the findings confirmed that the pathogen isolated from C. japonicum was consistent with the unique properties of B. cinerea.

  • In 2021, seven yeast strains were isolated from earthworm (Eisenia andrei) gut samples collected from the Nanji Water Regeneration Center in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, Korea. A total of seven yeasts were isolated, of which three strains have not been previously reported in Korea. To identify the yeasts, pairwise sequence comparisons of large subunit (LSU) rDNA sequences were performed using the basic local alignment search tool (BLAST). Assimilation test and cell morphology analysis were performed using the API 20C AUX kit and phase contrast microscope, respectively. Five of the seven strains were assigned to the genus Candida of the order Saccharomycetales of the class Saccharomycetes, and two to the genus Apiotrichum of the order Trichosporonales of the class Tremellomycetes. The yeast strain Candida sojae E2 belongs to the family Debaryomycetaceae, and Apiotrichum laibachii E8 and A. laibachii E9 belong to the family Trichosporonaceae. All strains were cultured in yeast mold agar for three days and showed different colony forms. C. sojae E2 was round and entire shaped, while A. laibachii E8 and A. laibachii E9 was round and convex shaped. This study focuses on the description of the three yeast strains that have not been officially reported in Korea.
