Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of health behavior-related characteristics, self-esteem, activities of daily living, and family support on depression in the community-dwelling elderly. Methods: The participants were 229 elders sampled from Seoul and other five provinces. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data, and data were analyzed by applying t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression with SAS 8.12. Results: There was a negative correlation between depression, MMSE-K, self-esteem, ADL, IADL, and family support. Depression and health behavior-related characteristics showed a significant difference according to stress level and the reason of stress. Major factors that affected the elders depression were self-esteem, the amount of alcohol drinking, sleeping hours, ADL and the cognition of health status, which explained 59.4%. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, self-esteem and health behavior-related characteristics including alcohol drinking, sleeping hours and ADL were the influencing factors of depression in the community-dwelling elderly. Therefore, effective psychological and physical health promotion methods need to be developed and applied in nursing interventions to prevent depression in the community-dwelling elderly.
Purpose: This study was to identify the factors that influence sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among adolescents in Korea. Methods: The data from the 10~12th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (2014~2016) were used to assess the effects of individual, family, and school-related factors on sexually transmitted infections. The participants of this study were 9,760 adolescents who had experienced sexual intercourse. The participants consisted of 6,905 boys and 2,855 girls. Results: Out of 9,760 adolescents with sexual intercourse experience, 9.7% (908) had STIs. Grade, substance abuse, age at first sexual intercourse, having sexual intercourse after drinking alcohol, the type of sex partner and family structure were significantly related STIs in both boys and girls. Using condoms was related to STIs only in boys. Drinking alcohol and smoking were related to STIs only in girls. However, sex education at school was not related to STIs in both boys and girls. Conclusion: In this study, Individual and family factors were associated with STIs in male and female adolescents. The results of this study suggest the need for systematic research on the factors influencing STIs and health eduation for STI prevention.
알코올, 약물과 같은 물질중독(substance abuse)과 도박 등의 행위중독(behavioral addiction)은 공통의 속성을 가지며, 동일한 기전에 의해 발생하며, 실제로 동시발생(co-occurrence)률이 높은 것으로 보고된다. 최근 대학생 집단에서도 음주 및 도박행동이 동시에 나타나며 이로 인해 다중 중독의 문제 및 부정적 결과가 초래되고 있다. 이 연구는 선행연구에서 문제도박 발생의 예측요인으로 제시되는 음주행동에 주목하고, 이에 기반하여 연구모형을 구성하여, 전국에서 표집 한 455명의 대학생을 대상으로 그 관계를 실증적으로 검증해 보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 로지스틱 회귀분석 결과, 문제도박에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 인구사회학적 및 가족 변인을 통제한 모델에서 음주문제는 도박문제 발생을 예측하는 유의미한 변인으로 나타났다. 결론에서는 주요 연구결과를 중심으로 사회복지 실천현장, 정책수립 과정, 향후 중독분야 연구에서 활용할 수 있는 이 논문의 함의를 논의하였다.
This study intended to provide fundamental data to take countermeasures against recurrent stress by analyzing the health-related quality of life and factors for recurrent stress of alcohol dependents. Structured questionnaire was prepared for patients who quitted drinking after they had been hospitalized for alcohol dependence to take medical treatment but suffered recurrence, and analysis on health-related quality of life and environmental factors with drinking risk was conducted. The quality of life was at a relatively satisfactory level, where pain was found at the highest level and general health condition was found at the lowest level. Environmental factors with drinking risk were found to be a moderate level, drinking for the reason of family and friends in terms of complications with other persons was found to be highest, and then job, self control, bad emotions, and social pressure on drinking were found in order. For health-related quality of life, the quality of life was found to be high in case of the only son, professional job, well-educated persons, and no history of hospitalization. Regarding factors for recurrent stress, stress was found to be high in case of the eldest son and being without religion, and the lower was the quality of life, the higher were recurrent stress and environmental factors with drinking risk. It was found that demographic factors including age, marriage, and job influenced the recurrence of alcohol dependence, and factors for recurrent stress, etc. also influenced recurrent alcohol dependence with drinking risks. Specially, the lower was the quality of life, the higher were factors for recurrent stress, and drinking risks, therefore measures to improve the quality of life are required to be taken to prevent alcohol dependence from recurrence.
The aim of this study was to identify the drinking patterns and needs for nutritional education of male workers. The subjects in this study were 285 male workers in Ulsan City. The average age of the subjects was 41.2 years old, height was 171.8cm, weight was 69.6kg and Body Mass Index(BMI) was $23.6kg/m^2$. The subjects were classified into 3 drinking patterns such as 'normal drinker(ND)', 'excessive drinker(ED)', and 'alcoholic drinker(AD)' diagnosed by NAST (Alcoholism Screening Test of Seoul National Mental Hospital). Each group was 31.6%(ND), 43.2%(ED) and 25.3% (AD). The amount of one time drinking, frequency, kind of alcohol and spending money were significantly different among the groups. 87.8% of ND thought that the self identity of drinking habits was good. But twenty seven percent of AD thought that it was just not bad, one-half of them(51.4%) thought they seemed to have problems and 20.8% of them thought they were serious. 38.9%(AD), 22.8%(ED) and 6.7%(ND) of each group tried to abstain by turn. Reasons of trying to abstain were health problems, disharmony of family and bad influence on the business and job place. The methods of abstaining were to avoid a drinking gathering or to refuse drinking in the party. 70.8% of AD, 59.3% of ED and 40% of ND thought they needed to take an educational program about abstaining. 58.3% of AD, 43.1 % of ED and 31.1 % of ND answered they would join an alcohol program.
이 연구는 청소년들의 우울, 스트레스 등 심리건강 폐해의 심각성을 인지하고 이에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 사회적 지지의 효과를 분석하였다. 가족, 학교, 친구관계 등의 사회적 지지와 청소년의 심리건강간의 구조적인 관계를 검증하고자 하였으며, 이 과정에서 문제음주의 매개효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 연구 자료는 제주도를 제외한 전 지역의 청소년을 모집단으로 하여 2010년 한국청소년정책연구원에서 시행한 "2010한국청소년건강실태조사"의 원자료에서 연구에 적합한 청소년 942명을 최종 연구대상자로 선정하였다. 연구결과, 가족 구성원의 바람직한 기능과 역할은 청소년의 심리건강을 증진시키는 효과가 있었다. 반면, 올바른 역할을 하지 못하는 가족은 청소년에게 문제음주를 유발시켜 우울, 스트레스, 분노 등 청소년의 심리건강에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 음주나 흡연을 하는 친구가 많을수록 문제음주를 유발해 심리건강을 악화시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 이 연구결과 생애주기적 관점에서 신체적, 정신적으로 외부 변화에 민감한 청소년들의 심리건강을 증진시키기 위해 가족, 친구관계 등 사회적 지지 시스템을 구축하는 것이 중요하다고 하겠다.
This study showed the effect of fermented milk on the cholesterol level of Korean. 130 persons among the teachers of elementary, middle and high schools, professors and graduate school students were divided into two groups according to their cholesterol level and provided with fermented milk 300 $m\ell$ dairly from Sep.25 to No. V3. They were given blood test at 20 days and 40 days after drinking fermented milk, and surveyed about their ordinary life style and the change of fecal condition. Cholesterol, LDL and the ratio of LDL and HDL in blood were significantly decreased in both high cholesterol group and normal group while HDL cholesterol was notably increased. TG showed slightly tendency of decrease in normal group while no changed in high group. There is no significant change in cholesterol level after drinking fermented milk among groups which are divided by factors of dringking, smoking, caffeine, B.M.I. and family history. The research also showed that drinking fermented milk improved the fecal frequency and fecal condition.
This study analyzed a family therapy case which dealt with family violence and was consisted of 14 sessions. The therapeutic perspective for this case was MRI model, a strategic family therapy model which emphasizes attempted solutions and interactions. The results of this study were as follows. This study found the interaction process of occurring family violence. When the husband attempted conversations with his wife after drinking, the wife who was anxious and dreadful avoided conversation. This avoidance made the husband felt rejected feeling, and he battered his wife. The avoidance of conversation, an attempted solution of wife, was made from her frame of reference which was affected from her original family context and the couple's communication style in ordinary times. The therapist made the couple recognize their attempted solutions were not effective, and he helped them begin new solutions or coping behaviors. This intervention process was long and hard, but the couple changed their attempted solutions to new solutions which were clear communication styles and functional interaction process. This study results showed the effectiveness of couple therapy on family violence. The effectiveness of MRI model was also proved from the study. The results of study will be helpful to the family therapists and counsellors in the field of family violence.
Purpose : The purpose of this study is to test the effect of the web-b ased alcohol preventive education for ndicate the model of alcohol preventive education for students spreading al over the family and the comunity.Methods : This study was performed on the 1 public and 1 private eleme ntary school students who are the six grade in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The number of experimental gr oup was 117 and control group's number was 131, totaled 248. eeks. The pre- and the post-test for web-based alcohol preventive education were tested about knowle dge and attitude toward drinking by questionnaire. The data analysis was done using SPS/Win 12.0 p rogram.Results:The results of this study are as follows;1. Compared with control group, experimental group which was educated the web-based alcohol preventive icant diference in the knowledge toward drinking.2. Compared with control group, also the experimental group w as improved with significant diference in attitude toward drinking after the education.3. In control group, female students' knowledge of drinking w as more increased than male students. And the he group which experienced drinking.Conclusions : The web-based alcohol preventi ve education is worth as a int ervention to get positive influence for the health education. Especially in female studen ts who didn't met with drinking, early education for alcohol prevention is very important. Therefore i t will be helpful that coperate with district ofice ithin the comunity for becoming established the controled drinking pattern.
Objectives: This study attempted to apply the Intervention mapping and Transtheoretical models to develop a program to promote moderate alcohol drinking in university students. Methods: Surveyed data from 1,137 university students were analyzed to identify personal and environmental determinants for alcohol drinking. Based on these determinants, program objectives were established. Crossing the objectives with related important determinants resulted in matrices of learning objectives for which educational strategies were developed. Subsequently, an intervention program were designed to achieve those objectives. Results: Identified personal determinants included awareness, attitudes, self-efficacy and behavioral skills. Environmental determinants were binge drinking behaviors of family members and peers, and social pressure for drinking. Program, impact and learning objectives were developed to change the identified determinants. Program activities included provision of information on positive and negative consequences of binge drinking, opportunities for assessing one's drinking pattern, increasing outcome expectancies of and skill building for monitoring drinking, resisting peer pressure and managing stress. To facilitate adoption and maintenance of the program, an intervention diffusion plan was suggested. An evaluation plan was developed by utilizing RE-AIM framework. Conclusions: In order to expand evidence bases for effective theory-based programs, the developed program should be tested in diverse university settings.
