How do Retailers' CSR Business Activities affect Customers in Korea?

  • Purpose - Compared with the past when customers regarded a price factor as one of the most important criteria when choosing a retailer as a shopping destination, they seem to show different attitudes toward retailers in recent. This research, therefore, aims to explore how Korean customers respond to the CSR business activities provided by retailers. Research design, data, and methodology - The authors have developed the 6 hypotheses based on the literature review and adopted the 4 hypotheses after removing the 2 hypotheses through discriminant validity analysis. Results - Amongst the 4 hypotheses selected, H1 (community support), H3 (environment protection) and H6 (trading with unethical suppliers) related to a retailer's CSR business practices are accepted, whilst H4 (product issues) is rejected. Surprisingly, Korean customers are not interested in a product safety issue, when deciding a shopping store. Conclusions - Rather than emphasizing cheaper prices to attract new customers or maintain existing ones, it is demonstrated through the research that retailers have to pay their attention to their CSR activities. For a retailer's CSR practices, the retailer's social role has become more important than ever before, from a customer's point of view.

A Study on Clothing Design Preference and Purchase associated with Gender of the Aging (노인의 성에 따른 의복 디자인 선호 및 구매에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study were to examine how clothing design preference and clothing attitude vary according to gender of the aging. Using the data collected through interview with 200 subjects who were 60years of age and older residing at Kunsan city area in Korea. These data were analyzed by frequency and $\chi$$^2$-test. The tendency of the gender on jacket stymie preference showed that men liked the soutien collar jacket, two button sing1e Jacket, and four button double jacket, women liked two button single jacket, three button single Jacket and four button double jacket. The general preference did allot depend on the practical purchasing. Men preferred more the soutien collar jacket than the women. On the shirts pattern preference, men liked thick horizon and plaid pattern, while the women liked polk dots pattern and small flowered one. The practical clothing purchase was done by themselves directly. The important criteria depended on the appearance style like simple and smart. For the main complaining factor to purchase the clothes, men considered the color, and women complained not to have suitable shopping stores. The most of all complaining was the expensive prices.

  • China has made rapid strides in agricultural production during the past few years. Although the absence of any serious climatic disturbances is a contributing factor, implementation of the responsibility system to reward peasant families for their initiatives has been by far the most significant. This has resulted in increased specialization, a greater requirement for technical adivsory services, and a much higher demand for farm equipment and production inputs. The revamped system has brought with it some problems such as differences in income between the most progressive producers and their less successful neighbours and urban workers, a shortage of storage, transport and processing facilities, and a strain on the national treasury to continue to subsidize farm prices. Demand for fertilizers has been increasing at a fast rate, especially for nitrogen. This has led to a serious imbalance in nutrient use which must be corrected if the current momentum in improving crop yields is to be maintained. Following a decade of total stagnation during the Cultural Revolution, agricultural research and education facilities are being strengthened. Younger scientists, many with overseas training, are being placed in key positions. China is still a developing country, and much remains to be done; however, progress in the last decade, and especially in the past five years, has been remarkable.

Our study is to make the commencement of an enterprise to reducing the faiure and to be successful for main point to successful commencement of an enterprise, the established can self capability and mental condition, the main important factor is types of industry selection, successful and those established who takes this conditions will very carefully inspect various matters by scientifically and rationally mind industrys propulsion graphs and open official fixture graphs will framing detail factors. One by inspect the reduction of failure, and successful commencement of an enterproses mind industry have been studied.

  • Regenerative Energy Storage System(ESS) is a system that saves regenerative energy which generated instantly in the regenerative braking of Electric Multiple Unit(EMU) and disappear, and reuse the stored energy when EMU is in powering. Such system related to a research field of renewable energy which emerged concerning climate change and high oil prices. In the case of existing domestic rolling stock, about 25% to 30% of generated regenerative energy is restored to power source and is regarded as direct factor of raising catenary voltage. Such rapid change of catenary voltage is a cause of the failure of EMU's electronic equipment and lowering its reliability and is also a cause of train's fault occurred by tripping circuit breaker. In this paper, we intend to investigate the effect on blending characteristics of electric-braking and pneumatic-braking whether the regenerative energy storage system is used or not in urban transit DC 1,500V feeding system, while trains run. And we also intend to investigate its effect on stabilization of the blending, fluctuation of catenary voltage and various electric equipments.

The Influence of Regulatory Focus on Consumer Responses to Smart Home Services for Energy Management

  • Smart homes have become the state of the art in the reduction and monitoring of energy usage within a residential setting. Emerging threats such as climate change, global warming and volatility in energy prices have fuelled the interest in smart systems. Given that environmental sustainability has become a more significant factor for consumers, this research examines whether consumers' attitudes toward smart home services for efficient energy management differ according to their regulatory focus. Specifically, it is predicted that consumers will have more favorable attitudes toward smart home services for efficient energy management when they are promotion-focused (vs. prevention-focused). The results indicate that respondents with a promotion (vs. prevention) focus reported significantly more favorable attitudes toward smart home services for energy management (e.g., smart cooling/heating system, smart ventilation & air conditioning system, smart thermostats, smart plugs, and smart switches). We suggest that regulatory focus may be an effective marketing and segmentation tool in promoting smart home services for energy management and facilitating their receptiveness to the services.

Experiences as Consumers: In-Depth Interview of Thai Students Studying in Korea

  • This study aims to understand the experiences as consumers of Thai students studying in Korea. "Study Korea Project" which is a drive to globalize local universities by attracting more oversea students as a pull factor, and economic growth, values on education and Hallyu as push factors contribute to the increase the number of Thai students in Korea. In order to understand the experiences of Thai students as consumers studying in Korea, individual interviews were conducted. A total of 5 participants were asked about meaning of consumption in everyday life in Korea or any changes in consumption behavior compared to living in Thai. Three themes were identified through wholistic and selective approaches. First, all participants in the study said that they were surprised because of high living expense in Korea. Consequently, survival itself is too much for them and they have become more conscious of prices of goods. Secondly, since most participants in this study can control their own budget, they feel some degree of freedom and power of control of their own lives. This experience may help them to accomplish their developmental tasks during the transition to adulthood. Thirdly, they are easily imbued with Korean consumer culture. It causes various conflicts between buying and not-buying or friends gathering and saving money. Sometimes it makes them in stuck excessive consumption and financial problems. For a deeper understanding of oversea students' lives in Korea as consumers, further studies should take into consideration of not only their culture of origins, but also misconceptions that have accumulated around these students.

  • Construction projects, including housing, are carried out over long periods of time. According to changes to the construction period, the cost of input materials and wages also changes. Therefore appropriate management is important in order to minimize cost risks caused by fluctuations in prices. In Korea, housing units are usually sold in lots prior to construction completion. Therefore, careful management of input elements such as materials and equipment that are sensitive to price fluctuations is very important. This study deals with how the price fluctuation of materials, labor, and equipment influences the change of housing cost and seeks a way for cost management through identifying key resources sensitive to price fluctuation. As a result, a change to the housing cost index multiplies depending on cost changes of materials and labor together. Labor costs are a major factor on the housing cost index. In addition, certain types of materials and labor input to housing construction greatly influence price fluctuations. Thus, it is found that managing those main cost factors is the key for effective cost management.

A Study on Purchase Satisfaction and Repurchase Intention accoding to Usage Motivation when Purchasing Fashion Products in Social Commerce (소셜커머스에서 패션제품 구매시 이용동기에 따른 구매만족도와 재구매의도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find affecting consumer's usage motivation on purchase satisfaction and repurchase intension when purchasing fashion products in social commerce. The data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire from 239 male and female who living in Busan with experience in social commerce purchasing fashion products. Using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 package, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, a confirmotory factor analysis and a structural equation modeling analysis were performed. The results are as follows. Hedonic, economical efficiency and interaction without information provide subjective norms significantly influenced the purchase satisfaction. And aforementioned subjective norms significantly influenced repurchase intension, too. The purchase satisfaction positively influenced the repurchase intension. Therefore, social commerce sellers of fashion products ought to offer variety price benift and promotion to raise the purchase satisfaction and repurchase intension. To offer variety price benift, they should respond sensitively to the price set by comparing prices with other sellers. And promotion to raise the purchase satisfaction and repurchase intension need to consider such variety of missions, discount coupons or event and mileage. In addition, they should develop customer service system for interaction with customer and connect to the repurchase increases the purchass satisfaction through faster customer response to the product information or sales, service.

A Simulation on the Performance of Durability in a Polymer Solar Glazing Design

  • Nowaday the conventional solar collector material prices are rising up because of pricy metal material over the world. The solar collector is too expensive to recycle to save the earth. Advanced polymer research is founded a high thermal resistant polymer and also it has high sun energy transmission. It also has cheaper material and easy manufacturing process, compare with conventional solar collector material. This paper is focussing on glazing simulation of polymer solar collector against wind pressure. The modeling geometry of polymer solar glazing are purposed by single layer, double layer hollow, zig-zag and tower. A simulation by using the Finite Volume was conducted to get Factor of Safety (FoS). The purpose of this paper is to find the best polymer glazing design, which can be as reference for the solar collector company to build Polymer. Hope fully new model of polymer solar collector has cheap, light, high sun energy transmitter, easy to be made and strong against wind force characteristics.
