This is a case report of Crouzon's disease as a kind of craniofacial dysostosis by premature closure of unilateral coronal suture, showed plagiocephalic skull. 5-year-old boy was visited for the treatment of dental caries and oral examination. Physical examination showed hypertelorism, internal strabismus, and saddle nose. Intraoral radiographs showed congenital missing of upper right and left deciduous and permanent lateral incisors. Cephalometric analysis showed shortening the posterior cranial base length, clockwise growth pattern and class III and open bite tendency. Posterior-anterior and submentovertex view showed multiple radiolucencies-digital impression on inner surface of cranial vault. Maxillo-facial and neuro-surgical treatment was required to improvement of facial esthetics and optic complications. Continuous examination was needed to the growth and development.

Progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS) is a multi-systemic disorder characterized by abundant fibrosis of the skin, blood vessels, and visceral organs. But it rarely affects the peripheral nervous system. We report a 36-year-old man of painful trigeminal neuropathy as a complication of PSS. He was referred from Rheumatology for the evaluation of abruptly developed bilateral facial pain. He had facial hypesthesia and paresthesia on neurologic examinations. In the blink reflex, ipsilateral and contralateral R1 and R2 responses were not detected during bilateral supraorbital stimulation. But normal latency and CMAP amplitude of facial NCV were found. Under the impression of trigeminal neuropathy caused by PSS, steroid therapy was tried, and his clinical symptoms and electrophysiologic findings were improved. PSS could be the cause of the painful trigeminal neuropathy.

With an assumption that the view point of a given society and time on facial attractiveness can be inferred by analyzing popular stars' faces, the cross-cultural differences in the physical measures of Korean and foreign stars were investigated. A classification model of affective facial impressions was used to obtain the physical measures of the faces and classifying them into a face-type category. The number of face images analyzed in the study were 629 in total: 258 Korean stars, and 200 foreign stars. The results show that the common characteristics found in the cross-cultural analyses of Western and Eastern stars was a babyish impression. Babyish feature was found distinctive also in western male stars, while such trend was not found in Asian male star.

There are many women who want larger and brighter eyes that will give a favorable impression. Surgical methods that make the eye larger and brighter include double eyelidplasty, epicanthoplasty, as well as lateral canthoplasty. Double eyelidplasty produces changes in the vertical dimension of the eyes, whereas epicanthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty create changes in the horizontal dimension of the eyes. Epicanthoplasty, a surgical procedure which enlarges the eye horizontally, is performed at the inner corner of the eye, whereas lateral canthoplasty enlarges the outer edge of the eye. In particular, if the slant of the palpebral fissure is raised and the horizontal dimension of the palpebral fissure is short, adjusting the slant of the palpebral fissure through lateral canthoplasty can achieve an enlargement of eye width and smoother features. Depending on the patient's condition, even better results can be achieved if this procedure is performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as double eyelid-plasty, epicanthoplasty, eye roll formation surgery, fat graft, and facial bone contouring surgery. In this paper, the authors will introduce in detail their surgical method for a cosmetic lateral canthoplasty that lengthens the lateral canthal angle and corrects the outer tail of the eyes, in order to ease the unfavorable impression.

The conventional mouthguard fabrication process consists of elastomeric impression taking and followed gypsum model making is now into intraoral scanning and direct mouthguard 3D printing with an additive manufacturing process. Also, dental professionals can get various diagnostic data collection such as facial scans, cone-beam CT, jaw motion tracking, and intraoral scan data to superimpose them for making virtual patient datasets. To print mouthguards, dental CAD software allows dental professionals to design mouthguards with ease. This article shows how to make 3D printed mouthguard step by step.

Facial esthetics and smiling are key components in nonverbal communication and have an important role in determination of the first impression of a person. The various components of the smile in dental esthetics include Gingival scaffold, lip framework, and Teeth. The periodontist creates a smile by performing various periodontal plastic microsurgery procedures for management of mucogingival problems. A 25-year-old patient reported to the Department of Periodontology at Teerthanker Mahaveer Dental College and Research Center, Moradabad, Northern India, with the chief complaint of long looking teeth in the upper jaw, making him conscious while smiling. Miller class I gingival recession with Maxillary left canine (23) was diagnosed. Periodontal plastic microsurgery employing double papilla grafting with connective tissue graft harvested from the palate in order to cover denuded root was performed using microsurgical instruments and microsuturing with 6-0 suturing material under magnification. Healing was uneventful, with achievement of 100% root coverage of denuded root after three months. The patient was highly impressed and satisfied with his enhanced smile.

Anterior maxillary teeth play an important role in determining a person's first impression and facial profile. Implant surgery in esthetic area requires more careful diagnosis, treatment planning, surgery, and prosthetic restoration than in posterior area. To avoid complications in surgery and prosthetic restoration for implants in esthetic area, accurate diagnosis and appropriate case selection become very important. If you have decided to restore the area with implant prosthesis, you have to know exactly where to place an implant. I will discuss the ideal implant position in terms of mesio-distally, apico-coronally, labio-palatally, and implant angulation. And I would like to point out the selection of fixture diameter & length for anterior implant. Finally, a clinical implant prosthesis case in maxillary central incisor will be shown. In conclusion, for superior esthetic outcome in anterior implant prostheses, we must understand the patient's anatomic condition and know our ability.

The zygoma is protruded on both sides of the midface and plays an important part in determining the impression of face. There are much different esthetic consideration of zygomatic prominence between the oriental and western. Because slight prominent zygoma is thought to be esthetic in the western, there has been done many augmentation therapy. But, in the oriental, prominent zygoma, especially in the female, is thought to be aggresive and manlike image, there has been done many zygoma reduction therapy. There are two methods to reduce the prominent zygoma, one is shaving method and the other is zygoma repositioning with ostectomy. The approach to zygoma and zygomatic arch without surgical morbidity is very difficult, so this problem has been difficult subject to oral & maxillofacial surgeon in a long period. We report the treatment case of facial asymmetry with the unilateral zygoma reduction & genioplasty using only intraoral approach with the retrospective study.

A 39-year-old male presented with severe pain in right posterior mandibular teeth and temporal area. Initially, the pain in the mandibular teeth was moderate, but the concomitant headache was unbearably severe. His medical history was non-contributory. The clinical and radiographic examination failed to reveal any pathology in the region. There was no tenderness to palpation in the temporalis and masseter muscles or temporomandibular joints. The clinical impression was migraine. The pain in the teeth and headache were aborted using ergotamine tartrate and sumatriptan succinate. Atenolol prevented further pain, while amitriptyline and imipramine had no effect. Migraine can present as non-odontogenic pain in the mandibular teeth, although not as frequently as in the maxillary teeth. A correct diagnosis is essential to avoid unnecessary dental treatments and to manage pain effectively. Clinicians should be able to identify migraine with non-odontogenic dental pain and establish a proper diagnosis through a comprehensive evaluation.

A-50-year-old male patient presented with complaint of tenderness on the left malar area after traffic accident. Our first impression on him was zygomatic fracture, we did radiologic work-up and physical examination on him. But, on the computed tomography scan, there was no fracture or discontinuity on his facial bone. The computed tomography scan was revealed a 4-cm long foreign body in left maxillary sinus with a large amount of fluid collection. After thorough history taking from him, we reveal the patient had a history of trauma 30 years back on the left zygomatic area with a chopstick. The foreign body was removed via transoral approach with the endoscopic assist. There was no complication after operation.
