In this study, a charging density has been differently applied to all holes to improve an excavated length per round on excavating a tunnel in quartzite mine and to prevent a dead pressure phenomena and sintering phenomena. A composition initiating system using simultaneously a direct initiating system and a indirect initiating system with 2 detonators in one hole has been introduced to cut holes. As a bottom part which is difficult to make a free face are charged with a higher charging density and a column part are charged with a lower charging density, the composition charging and initiating system which the power of explosives works effectively in the rock mass is developed. As the results, a dead pressure phenomena and a sintering phenomena being often produced in a hard rock or in a long hole could be prevented. Besides, the workability was improved by about 15% and the specific charge was reduced to about 20%, as an excavated length vs. a drilled length per round could be increased over 95%.
The aim of this paper is to enhance the accuracy of predicting time-averaged external surface pressures on low-rise buildings by utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. To achieve this, benchmark studies of the Silsoe cube and the Texas Tech University (TTU) experimental building are employed for comparison with simulation results. The paper is structured into three main sections. In the initial part, an appropriate domain size is selected based on the precision of mean pressure coefficients on the windward face of the cube, utilizing Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) turbulence models. Subsequently, recommendations regarding the optimal computational domain size for an isolated building are provided based on revised findings. Moving on to the second part, the Silsoe cube model is examined within a horizontally homogeneous computational domain using more accurate turbulence models, such as Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and hybrid RANS-LES models. For computational efficiency, transient simulation settings are employed, building upon previous studies by the authors at the Windstorm Impact, Science, and Engineering (WISE) Lab, Louisiana State University (LSU). An optimal meshing strategy is determined for LES based on a grid convergence study. Three hybrid RANS-LES cases are investigated to achieve desired enhancements in the distribution of mean pressure coefficients on the Silsoe cube. In the final part, a 1:10 scale model of the TTU building is studied, incorporating the insights gained from the second part. The generated flow characteristics, including vertical profiles of mean velocity, turbulence intensity, and velocity spectra (small and large eddies), exhibit good agreement with full-scale (TTU) measurements. The results indicate promising roof pressures achieved through the careful consideration of meshing strategy, time step, domain size, inflow turbulence, near-wall treatment, and turbulence models. Moreover, this paper demonstrates an improvement in mean roof pressures compared to other state-of-the-art studies, thus highlighting the significance of CFD simulations in building aerodynamics.

The high velocity oxygen fuel spraying (HVOF) is a kind of surface modification process technology to form the sprayed coating layer after spraying the powder to molten or semi-molten state by the ultra-high speed at the high-temperature heat source and conflicting with a substrate. It is desirable to melt completely the thermal spray powder in order to produce the coating layer with an optimal adhesion, however, because a semi-molten powder in a spray process has the low efficiency and become a factor that degrades the mechanical property by the inducement of pore-forming within the coating layer. To improve the wear resistance, corrosion resistance and heat resistance, in this study, the plungers of high-speed and ultra-high pressure reciprocating hydraulic pumps for oil and water used in ironwork are produced with $420J_2$ and the coating layers of plungers are formed by the powders of WC-Co-Cr and WC-Cr-Ni including the high hardness WC. The surface of these plungers is modified by the super-mirror face grinding machine using variable air pressure developed in this laboratory, and then the characteristics of cross-sectional microstructure, and surface roughness and hardness values between no operation and 100 days-operation are examined and made a comparison. The fine tops and bottoms on surface roughness curve of oil-hydraulic pump plunger sprayed by WC-Cr-Ni are molded more and higher than those of water-hydraulic pump sprayed by WC-Co-Cr because the plunger diameter of oil-hydraulic pump is 0.4 times smaller than that of water-hydraulic pump and the pressure of oil-hydraulic pump exerted on the plunger is operated with the 70 bars higher than that of water-hydraulic pump. As a result, it is found that the values of centerline average surface roughness and maximum height for oil-hydraulic pump plunger are bigger than those of water-hydraulic pump plunger.

In this paper case studies of artificial ground freezing, which have not been applied in Korea, have been investigated for the water cut-off in a subsea tunnel under high water pressure and the most commonly used cooling mediums of brine and liquid nitrogen are examined. Since sea water with pressure has the lower freezing point than pure water, the lower temperature cooling medium is required in the application of subsea tunnel. Also, the cooling medium must have refrigeration safety and is able to reduce executing time. Brine freezing system can reuse cooling medium and is safer than liquid nitrogen freezing. But it takes more time to freeze ground and needs complex circulation plants. On the other hand, liquid nitrogen freezing system can't recycle cooling medium and may cause breathing problems or asphyxiation through oxygen deficiency. But, freezing with liquid nitrogen is fast and requires simple refrigeration equipment. Principal elements of design for ground freezing in subsea tunnel have been extracted and these elements are needed further research.

Cavitation refers to a phenomenon in which empty spaces occur in a fluid due to changes in pressure and a velocity. When a liquid moves at a high speed, the pressure drops below the vapor pressure, and vapor bubbles are generated in the liquid. This study used CFD to analyze the flow of fluid machinery used in marine and offshore plants. The goals are to ensure the validity of the analysis method for marine propellers in an open water test, to increase the forward ratio, and to use FLUENT to understand the flow pattern due to cavitation. A three-dimensional analysis was performed and compared with experimental data from MOERI. The efficiency was highest at advance ratios of 0.7 - 0.8. Thrust was generated due to the difference between the pressure surface and the suction surface, and it was estimated that bubbles would be generated in the vicinity of the back side surface rather than the face side of the propeller, resulting in more cavitation. The cavitation decreased sharply as the advance ratio increased. The thrust and torque coefficients were comparable to those of the MOERI experimental data except at the advance ratio of 1, which showed a difference of less than 5%. Therefore, it was confirmed that CFD can evaluate an open water propeller test.

Background : A bronchoalveolar lavage(BAL) is useful in diagnosing the etiology of bilateral pulmonary infiltrations, but may worsen the oxygenation and clinical status in severely hypoxemic patients. This study assessed the safety and efficacy of the continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP) using a conventional mechanical ventilator via a face mask as a tool for maintaining the oxygenation level during BAL. Methods : Seven consecutive patients with the bilateral pulmonary infiltrates and severe hypoxemia ($PaO_2/FIO_2$ ratio ${\leq}200$ on oxygen 10 L/min via mask with reservoir bag) were enrolled. The CPAP 5-6 $cmH_2O(F_IO_2\;1.0)$ was delivered through an inflatable face mask using a conventional mechanical ventilator. The CPAP began 10 min before starting the BAL and continued for 30 min after the procedure was completed. A bronchoscope was passed through a T-adapter and advanced through the mouth. BAL was performed using the conventional method. The vital signs, pulse oxymetry values, and arterial blood gases were monitored during the study. Results : (1) Median age was 56 years(male:female=4:3). (2) The baseline $PaO_2$ was $78{\pm}16mmHg$, which increased significantly to $269{\pm}116mmHg$(p=0.018) with CPAP. After the BAL, the $PaO_2$ did not decrease significantly but returned to the baseline level after the CPAP was discontinued. The $SpO_2$ showed a similar trend with the $PaO_2$ and did not decrease to below 90 % during the duration of the study. (3) The $PaCO_2$ increased and the pH decreased significantly after the BAL but returned to the baseline level within 30 min after the BAL. (5) No complications directly related to the BAL procedure were encountered. However, intubation was necessary in 3 patients(43 %) due to the progression of the underlying diseases. Conclusion : In severe hypoxemic patients, CPAP using a face mask and conventional mechanical ventilator during a BAL might allow minimal alterations in oxygenation and prevent subsequent respiratory failure.
The basic mechanism of lubrication between the piston ring and the cylinder wall is developed theoretically under the assumption of a reciprocating and dynamically loaded slider-bearing pair of parabolic form and smooth plane. A numerical computation for the prediction in cyclic variations of film thickness, net lubricant flow and frictional behaviour is attempted, and the influenec on the performance characteristics due to the ring height, ring face radius of curvature and the degree of offset, is also examined. The computational procedures develeped for a single ring system are extended and applied further to the complex problem of a ring pack system. It is well known that the ring pressure which is the total load on a ring, can be obtained from either an experimental measurement or a gas flow analysis. In this work, the latter of a gas low analysis method was used to calculate the pressures. It is remarked that the work done was focused on the role of flow continuity and lubricant starvation within the ring pack lubrication.

This study provides a brief introduction to application of the computational fluid dynamics to domestic development of combustion devices for liquid-propellant rocket engines. Multi-dimensional flow analysis can provide information on the flow uniformity and pressure loss inside the propellent manifold, from which the design selection can be performed during the conceptual design phase. Multi-disciplinary performance analysis of the thurst chamber can also provide key information on performance-related design issues such as fuel film cooling and thermal barrier coating conditions. Further efforts should be made to develop numerical models to resolve the mixing and combustion characteristics of LOX/kerosene near the injection face plate.

Economic integration is an indispensable trend in all countries. However, besides the advantages that economic integration brings, there are also disadvantages, such as competition between businesses among states in export activities. Vietnam is a developing country with many advantages, especially, the seafood exporting industry. However, with competitive pressure as well as strategic constraints, Vietnamese seafood exporters still face many difficulties. Therefore, the case study of the Kien Giang province of Vietnam is used to analyze the factors affecting the competitiveness of seafood exporting enterprises. The study applied quantitative research methods with a survey of 350 seafood exporting enterprises in Kien Giang province to achieve the research objectives. The research results identified eleven key factors affecting the competitiveness of seafood exporting enterprises, including (1) vision and strategy of leader; (2) human resources management capability; (3) organization capability; (4) customer-responsive marketing capability; (5) relationship management capability; (6) technical capability; (7) competitors reaction capability; (8) business environment adoption capability; (9) financial capability; (10) products and services innovation capability; and (11) branding management. The research results provided the basis to propose some managerial implications to improve the competitiveness of exporting enterprises in the context of the global economic integration.
Laser surface texturing (LST) methods are applied recently to generate micro-dimples in machine components having parallel sliding surfaces such as thrust bearings, mechanical face seals and piston rings, etc. And it is experimentally reported by several researchers that the micro-dimpled bearing surfaces can reduce friction force. Until now, however, theoretical results for various dimple parameters are not fully presented. In this paper, a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT is used to investigate the effect of dimple depth on the lubrication characteristics of parallel thrust bearing. The results show that the pressure, velocity and density distributions within dimples are highly affected by dimple depths and cavitation conditions. Adoption of micro-dimple on the bearing surface can reduce the friction force highly and its levels are affected by dimple depth. The numerical methods and results can be use in design of optimum dimple characteristics to improve thrust bearing performance.
