Recent epidemiological observations suggested beneficial effects of dietary fiber on man's health. The obsective of this study was to obtain the dietary fiber reference data of mushrooms. The dietary fiber contents of six different mushrooms (Cornellus edodes, Auricularia auriculajudae, Gyrophora esculanta, Agaricus bisporus, Pleurotus ostreatus, Collybia velutipes) were analyzed by Southgate method, modified neutral detergent fiber (NDF) method and Food Research Institute (FRI) method. Duplicate sample were used for each determination. The mean values of total dietary fiber by Southgate method, modified NDF method and FRI method were respectively $20.08\pm1.45g$/100g dry weight, $20.24\pm1.85g$/100g dry weight and $21.5\pm2.70g$/100g dry weight. The mean values of all mushroom samples by FRI method were significantly different from the mean values of the samples by modified NDF method and Southgate method. However, there was no difference in the mean values of the samples between modified NDF method and Southgate method. By Southgate method, total dietary fiber of mushrooms composed of 1.7-3.1% soluble fiber, 47.0-66.6% hemicellulose, 28.4-57.7% cellulose and 0.9-3.3% lignin. By modified NDF method, total dietary fiber of mushrooms composed of 61.8-79.1% hemicellulose, 5.4-32.9% cellulose and 4.5- l5.5% lignin. Therefore, dietary fiber contents of mushrooms were mainly hemicellulose. Our values for total dietary fiber for six mushrooms were 2~4 times higher than crude fiber in textbook.
In order to evaluate the fire risk and fire risk rating of wood for construction materials, this study focused on fire performance index-III (FPI-III), fire growth index-III (FGI-III), and fire risk index-IV (FRI-IV) according to Chung's equations-III and -IV. Western red cedar, needle fir, ash, and maple were used as the specimens. The fire characteristics were investigated using a cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-1) equipment on the specimen. The FPI-III measured after the combustion reaction was 0.86 to 12.77 based on polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). The FGI-III was found to be 0.63 to 5.26 based on PMMA. The fire rating according to the FRI-IV, which is the fire rating index, was 0.05 to 6.12, and the western red cedar was 122.4 times higher than that of the maple. The fire risk rating according to the FRI-IV increased in the order of maple, ash, needle fir, PMMA and western red cedar. The CO peak concentration of all specimens was measured as 103 to 162 ppm, and it was 2.1 to 3.2 times higher than 50 ppm, the permissible exposure limits of the US occupational safety and health administration. Materials such as western red cedar, which have a low bulk density and contain a large amount of volatile organic substances, have a low FPI-III and a high FGI-III, so they have a high fire risk rating.
The evaluation of fire risk for combustible materials was carried out using Chung's equations-X, Chung's equations-XI, and Chung's equation-XII, which were newly established. The fire risk index-XII (FRI-XII) and fire risk rating (FRR) were calculated for specimens including camphor tree, cherry, rubber tree, and elm. The combustion characteristics were determined using a cone calorimeter according to ISO 5660-1. Chung's equations caculated the fire performance index-X (FPI-X) and fire growth index-X (FGI-X) values ranged from 89.34 to 1696.75 s2 /kW and from 0.0006 to 0.0107 kW/s2 , respectively. In addition, the fire performance index-XI (FPI-XI) and fire growth index-XI (FGI-XI) varied from 0.08 to 1.48 and from 0.67 to 11.89, respectively. The fire risk index-XII (FRI-XII), which is an indicator of fire risk, showed that camphor tree had a value of 148.63 (fire risk rating: G), indicating a very high fire risk. This suggests that combustible materials with a high concentration of volatile organic compounds have lower FPI-X and FPI-XI values, higher FGI-X and FGI-XI values, and consequently higher FRI-XII values, indicating an increased fire risk.

This study identified problems of the existing ecosystem-based fisheries assessment approach, and suggested new methods for scoring risk and for the estimation of fishery risk index. First, risk scores of zero to two for target and limit reference points for each indicator were replaced by those of zero to three, and the risk scores were calculated from new formulae which were developed in this study. Second, a new method for estimating fishery risk index (FRI) was developed in this study, considering the level of indicators. New method was applied to the Korean large purse seine fishery, large pair trawl fishery and drag net fishery. More precise and detailed risk scores were obtained from the new method, which can explain the risks by the wider range of both risk levels for 'better than target' and 'beyond limit'. The new method for estimating FRI could avoid the basic problem related with duplicated computations of fishery-level indicators, which improved the estimated FRI to be more accurate. Also, a method for estimating variance of FRI using the bootstrap was proposed in this study.
With the increase in the number of multinational and multicultural research projects, the need to adapt health status measures for use in other than source language has also grown rapidly. Most questionnaire were developed in English-speaking countries, but even within these countries, researchers must consider immigrant populations in studies of health, especially when their exclusion could lead to a systematic bias in studies of health care utilization or quality of life. The purpose of this study was to translate and and culturally adapt the three most used neck and spinal pain disability questionnaires - the Neck Disability Index(NDI), Neck pain and Disability Scale(NPDS), and Functional Rating Index(FRI) - into the korean language and evaluated their reliability, in addition to item response pattern, to achieve a good cross cultural adaptation. Each translated questionnaire was found to have high reliability (FRI ICC (2,1)=0.86 ($95\%$ CI: 0.75-0.92); NPDS ICC (2,1)=0.90 ($95\%$ CI: 0.83-0.95 ; NDI ICC (2,1) =0.90 ($95\%$ CI: 0.81-0.94)). The reliability of the translated versions of FRI, NPDS and NDI were excellent.
Studies were conducted on the conditions for preparation of yeast protoplasts utilizing Hansenula anomala var. anomala FRI YO-32 as well as Saccharomyces cerevisiae KFCC 32356 and a lytic enzyme from the snail Helix pomatia. The cell wails of the strain FRI YO-32 and S cerevisiae were found to be resistant to activity of the snail lytic enzyme if they were not treated with thiol compounds. Dithiothreitol was found to be more effective than 2-mercaptoethanol, but the latter was considered to be practical. As factors influencing the formation of yeast protoplast, it was considered to be concentration and incubation time of 2-mercaptoethanol or the lytic enzyme, growth stages in yeast cultivation, initial number of yeast cells, and concentration of osmotic stabilizer (KCI). Optimum conditions for the preparation of yeast protoplasts were determined.
Defining right and left side differences in mandibular ramus height is one of the key elements in the diagnosis of facial asymmetry. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of correction of ramus height with frontal and lateral ramal inclinations (FRI and LRI) in 2-dimensional cephalograms and observe how this affects the diagnostic accuracy of asymmetry. Methods: Frontal and lateral cephalograms were obtained in 40 individuals with chin deviation. FRI and LRI were measured on each side and ramus height measurement was corrected with these inclinations using Pythagorean's theorem. The results of diagnosis before and after correction on cephalograms were compared with the results in 3D CT images. Results: Both FRI and LRI showed greater values in the contralateral side than in the chin-deviated side and these contributed to an increase in the right and left side ramus height differences. After comparison of diagnostic results before and after correction on cephalograms with the results on 3D CT images, the sensitivity increased significantly (from 74 to 94 %) whereas the specificity decreased (from 44 to 22 %). Overall accuracy increased from 68 to 78 % with the correction using FRI and LRI. Conclusions: The results of the present study indicate that correction of ramus height with FRI and LRI is useful for an accurate diagnosis of facial asymmetry on frontal cephalograms.

This paper presents the stability analysis of a biped robot IWR-III. We use a foot-rotation indicator(FRI) concept to reveal the degree of stability. The foot rotation can be a barometer of postural instability, which should be carefully treated in implementing a dynamically stable walk and avoided altogether in performing a statically stable walk. The conventionally mentioned zero moment point(ZMP) criterion may not be sufficient to express the stability of a biped robot. ZMP equation needs an assumption that the supporting foot is fixed firmly to the ground during the walking. Therefore, applying the FRI concept is more desirable when a biped robot is falling down ...

It was investigated under several cultural conditions to produce biomass directly from starch by an strictly aerobic and amylolytic yeast, Sporobolomyces holsaticus FRI Y-5. Its optimal temperature and initial pH of medium for growth were $23^{\circ}C$ and 6.9, respectively. Activation energy, Ea, for growth was calculated to be 17.33 Kcal/mole from the Arrhenius relationship. When each of 13 nitrogen sources was added to the basal medium, $(NH_2)_2CO$ had the best effect, on which concentration of cell after 3 day incubation was 10.6 g/l and cell yield was 0.451. The yeast growth was affected by $MgSO_4,\;K_2SO_4\;and\;ZnSO_4$ as a mineral source and was best on the medium containing all of them. The addition of yeast extract (5g/l) could enhance the production of biomass and cell yield to 77% and 32%, respectively.
