The synergistic effect on phosphate solubilization of single- and co-inoculation of two phosphate solubilizing bacteria, Burkholderia cepacia (C1) and Alcaligenes aquatilis (H6), was assessed in liquid medium and maize plants. Co-inoculation of two strains was found to release the highest content of soluble phosphorus (309.66 ?g/mL) into the medium, followed by single inoculation of B. cepacia (305.49 ?g/mL) and A. aquatilis strain (282.38 ?g/mL). Based on a plant growth promotion bioassay, co-inoculated maize seedlings showed significant increases in shoot height (75%), shoot fresh weight (93.10%), shoot dry weight (84.99%), root maximum length (55.95%), root fresh weight (66.66%), root dry weight (275%), and maximum leaf length (81.53%), compared to the uninoculated control. In a field experiment, co-inoculated maize seedlings showed significant increases in cob length (136.92%), number of grain/cob (46.68%), and grain weight (67.46%) over control. In addition, single inoculation of maize seedlings also showed improved result over control. However, there was no significant difference between single inoculation of either bacterial strains and co-inoculation of these two bacterial strains in terms of phosphate solubilization index, phosphorous release, pH of the media, and plant growth parameters. Thus, single inoculation and co-inoculation of these bacteria could be used as biofertilizer for improving maize growth and yield.
To investigate the effects of topping method on the yield and major agronomic traits of three varieties differed in plant type of Hibiscus manihot the experiments were carried out Mokpo Branch Station of Crop Experiment Station, in 1993. Fresh weight of root, dry weight of culm, dry weight of capsule and dry matter ratio on root were highest in the long culmed variety, and at the plots with topping of growing point in main culm and branches(Treatment No.3). Considering from the above results, optimum topping method seemed to be topping of growing point in main culm and branches in the long culmed variety.
To study the effect of moisture content of the diet on drinking behaviour and the amount of water drunk, observations were made on 8 Holstein steers fed either fresh cut forage or first cut hay. The observations were made in a barn with a mean temperature of about $13^{\circ}C$. Drinking occurred mainly within 3 hours after feeding for the steers fed hay, while those fed soilage drank casually. Frequency of drinking (F) was related to the dry-matter concentration (DMC, %) of herbage: F = 0.47 (${\pm}0.09$) DMC - 6.5, $SE={\pm}0.4$, r = 0.86, P<0.01. Intake of drinking water for each 100 kg of live weight (IDW/100kg) for steers fed soilage was related to the dry-matter concentration: IDW/100kg = 0.55 (${\pm}0.06$) DMC - 8.7, $SE={\pm}0.3$, r = 0.94, P<0.01. The intake of water in each drinking period for animals fed fresh forage was curvilinearly related to the drinking frequency; for the hay-fed steers there was a negative linear relationship. When the drinking frequency for steers fed the fresh forage increased to the same as that observed for the hay, water intake in each drinking period was the same as found for the hay-fed steers.

This study was aimed to promote evergreen ferns native to Korea as a material for interior landscape by investigate effects of light quality on the growth of Cyrtomium falcatum and Rumohra aristata, in an indoor environment that artificial light was used, especially. Result of experiments are as follows; 1. Wavelengths were measured as control(=570~580nm), red(=600~610nm), yellow(=550~580nm), green(=500~510nm) and blue(=430~440nm) between different color film. The order of photon flux density was red>yellow>control>green>blue decreased. 2. Although there was no difference in the growth of Cyrtomium falcatum depending on light quality, in case of fronds with sori and new fronds, there were highest under red film. Fresh weight was no significant in all treatments, but dry weight was increased with green>control>yellow>blue>red in order. 3. In case of Rumohra aristata, there was no difference in its growth, however, number of total fronds was highest under green film. Although fresh weight was increased with yellow film, dry weight was highest under green film.
These studies were carried out to clarify the effects of black P.E. mulching and planting density on the growth and rhizome yield of Jihwang #1, a new high yielding Rehmannia glutinosa variety. Emergence ratio was higher 3.1% in mulching than in non-mulching, but was not affected by planting density. Plant height and fresh leaf weight per plant were increased by mulching and at lower planting density. However, the fresh leaf weight per unit area was increased at higher planting density. Dry rhizome weight was increased 28% in mulching than that of non-mulching. Dry rhizome weight per plant was increased, but that of per unit area was decreased at lower planting density.
This study was conducted to examine the yield of lotus leaves and roots per one native white lotus grown in Hoesan, Muan of Jeonnam districts, which were promoted by Muan-Gun, Jeonnam as a local speciality. We planted the rhizomes with 2 internodes in a rubber pot in the middle of April. Then on September, 24, 2008, we dug out the main rhizomes and it had grown by 810cm. From the data, the leaf area was $34,442\;cm^2$, the fresh leaf weight was 1,230g, and the dry leaf weight was 235.4g. The weight of the edible fresh stalk and dry weight leaf were 1,325g and 164.3g. Yield of the white lotus root were 1,480g on Sept. 4, 3,880g on Sept. 20 and 4,172g on Oct. 18. Native white lotus are able to be harvested early as September, however, it is be better that it is harvested in the middle of October based on the yield.

Many onion growers and researchers assert that differences in soil type, agricultural practices, weather, and duration of prolonged onion cultivation in a particular field could affect onion bulb quality. This study evaluates the bulb quality of onions grown in different regions and determines the correlations between bulb characteristics and postharvest loss during cold and ambient storage. Soil and onion bulbs were collected from fields in six onion growing regions in Korea, during the growing season of 2011-2012. The fresh weight, dry matter content, and carbon (C), sulfur and magnesium contents of the onion bulbs were significantly affected by the location in which they were grown. Bulbs grown in Muan had the greatest number of scales, thinnest scale thickness, and the highest total soluble solids (TSS) and total flavonoids (TF). Bulbs originating from Jecheon had the lowest pyruvic acid (PA), total phenolics and TF. Storage loss of bulbs from the different regions was similar in refrigerated storage, but differed in ambient temperature storage. Bulb fresh weight was positively correlated with scale thickness (r = 0.617) and cold storage loss (CSL; r = 0.398). Dry matter content was positively correlated with C (r = 0.958) and TF (r = 0.256) contents, while it was negatively correlated with CSL (r = -0.424). CSL was primarily affected by the fresh weight, as well as the dry matter, C, and PA contents of the bulbs, while ambient storage loss was primarily influenced by the amount of TSS.

Studies on the interrelationship between biological yield and harvest index, and their association with shoot rearing were carried out in 9 promising mulberry genotypes, which indicated significant variations among genotypes. Biological yield had close association with leaf yield components indicating that they are inter-related for higher productivity in mulberry, Biological yield revealed highly significant positive correlation with important leaf yield components. However height of the longest branch showed negative correlation with biological yield. Genotypes with higher biological yield associated with low ratio of stem weight to leaf weight and high Harvest index on dry weight basis are to be selected for shoot rearing. Biological yield recorded on fresh weight basis had less impact on the present study in comparison to dry weight basis.

The global population is increasing every year, and the amount of food waste is also increasing. Direct landfilling of food waste has been prohibited since 2005, and in accordance with the London Convention in 2013, the discharge of livestock manure, sewage sludge, and food waste into the sea is prohibited. In the case of incineration to treat the discharged food waste, the heat point is lowered due to the moisture in the food waste itself, so fuel must be added. Therefore, this study was conducted to get basic data for setting the limit of application by investigating the growth and yield of crops after treating food waste dry powder mixed fertilizer (MF) on red pepper. In the experiment, continuous cultivation was carried out for two years in 2021 (1st year) and 2022 (2nd year). The treatment groups were set as Not Treatment (NT), Chemical Fertilizer (CF), Mixed Fertilizer (MF), Mixed Fertilizer×2 (MF×2). After harvest, crop growth and yield were investigated. As a result of the 1st years of growth survey, CF, MF, MF×2 show significant difference in shoot length compared to NT. About fresh weight and dry weight, CF show significant difference compared to NT. The 2nd years of growth survey, the shoot and root length, fresh weight did not show significant difference with NT. In case of dry weight, MF is significant increased compared to NT. As a result of the yield survey of the 1st year, all treatment groups did not show a significance in yield compared to the NT. In case of 2nd year, all treatment groups show significantly increased value compared to NT. The yield of MF was highest among the treatment groups. In the future, it is thought that it is necessary to quantitatively evaluate the effect of food waste dry powder mixed fertilizer through additional experiments and continuous cultivation, and to establish an appropriate amount of use and establishment of a manual based on this.
Soybean [Glycin max (L.)] cv. Jangbaekkong was inoculated with 5 cultivated- and 5 uncultivated upland soils, in Yeongnam area, as soil inoculum and NifTAL peat inoculum as standard for soil inoculum potentials by Bradyrhizobium japonicum. 120 Bradyrhizobium japonicum isolates out of the soil populations were scored of three colony morphologies, designed "Dry", "Wet", and "Dry/Wet", and symbiotic effectiveness between "Dry" and "Wet" was compared. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. Indigenous populations of B. japonicum were above $10^4cells/g$. soil at the cultivated upland soils but were a few at the uncultivated upland soils except a colluvivum, orchard previously, in Yeongnam area. 2. Inoculum potentials of the cultivated upland soils were higher than the NifTAL inoculum and generally, nodule mass compensated nodule number for symbiotic effectiveness of soil populations. 3. Colony morphologies of soil populations showed the different proportions of "Dry" and "Wet" so that "Dry" types were dominant at the cultivated upland soils while "Wet" types at the uncultivated upland soils. 4. "Dry" colony morphology significantly exhibited higher symbiotic effectiveness than "Wet" types in nodule fresh weight, shoot dry weight, and shoot dry weight/nodule fresh weight. Therefore, as long as soil inoculum potentials, the growth of soybean at the cultivated upland soils could presumedly be affected by soil populations of Bradyrhizobium japonicum of "Dry" colony morphology.
