FACTOR/AIM을 이용한 통합자동 생산시스템의 성능분석을 위한 비교연구 (A Comparative Study of FMS Performance Evaluation Modeling Using FACTOR/AIM)

  • A variety of approaches on performance evaluation modeling have appeared in the technical literature for flexible manufacturing systems(FMS) which can be evaluated only through computer simulation. This study represents a comparative approach for FMS performance evaluation modeling based on reliability, availability and maintainability, and life cycle cost. The methodology proposed in this research includes the following three-step generative approaches. First, a static model to find the initial system configuration is considered under the assumption that the system availability is given as one (failure and maintenance are not considered), and in second step, a stochastic simulation is proposed to serve as a performance evaluation model for FMS with stochastic failure and repair time. In the last step, we developed a simulation modeling using a simulator, FACTOR/AIM to consider a variety of performance factors and dynamic behavior of FMS. Also the applicability and validity of the proposed approaches has been tested and compared through the results of a sample problem using computer programs and procedures developed in each step.

  • Contingency response in a FMS system requires that the system be able to identify and evaluate a number of alternatives. This paper is outlined that DSS completes with a problem processor in corporating Timed Petri Nets model, and a data base system. DSS enables the FMS user to get the maximum benefit from a FMS. The structure of this DSS parallels the organizational activities involved in running the FMS. In designing a shop floor controller for FMS, interactions between the different real time, discrete event functions must be established. The specification of the machine tool and material handling system functions working as a concurrent and cooperative system is given in terms of Timed Petri Nets. In addition, the basic concepts and uses of Petri Nets are surveyed. The system to be studied is first modelled by a Timed Petri Nets and then procedure for evaluating the FMS system performance are presented. Numerical examples are studied to illustrate a session of the FMS used-DSS interaction.

  • With the success of flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs), flexible assembly systems (FASs) have been developed to automate factories further. As in a cellular FMS, a cellular FAS is considered as the most flexible and feasible assembly system configuration Because of the differences between manufacturing and assembly operation, the logic of cell formation and cell layout between a FMS and a FAS is not the same. Since the time for assembly operation is usually relatively short, the transfer time is thus very crucial for the performance of assembly systems. Therefore in assembly systems it is important to reduce the transfer time by sequencing operations efficiently and arranging machines like the sequences. The network-type layout is not only feasible for the machine arrangement based on operation sequences, but it has also layout flexibility. Therefore it is a reasonable layout configuration for cellular FASs. This paper presents a method for the cell layout based on the network-type layout in a cellular FAS design.

  • The importance of Virtual Manufacturing System is increasing in the area of developing new manufacturing processes, implementing automated workcells, designing plant facility layouts and workplace ergonomics. Virtual manufacturing system is a computer system that can generate the same information about manufacturing system structure, states, and behaviors as is observed in a real manufacturing. In this research, a virtual manufacturing system for flexible manufacturing cells (VFMC), (which is a useful tool for building Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), has been developed using object-oriented paradigm, and implemented with software QUEST/IGRIP. Three object models used in the system are the product model, the facility model, and the process model. The concrete behaviors of a flexible manufacturing cell are re[presented by the task-oriented description diagram, TIC. An example simulation is executed to evaluate applicability of the developed models, and to prove the potential value of virtual manufacturing paradigm.

  • A FMS is a typical discrete event system exhibiting concurrency, asynchronicity and non-determinism. To represent a FMS with those characteristics, Colored and Timed Petri Nets is defined and the modeling procedure is provided in this paper. To analyze and evaluate the performance of a FMS, a simulation software is developed and applied to SNU FMS/CM Center. This software enables to detect the bottleneck machine and decide the optimal direction in case of the expansion of a FMS.

  • 본 논문에서는 유연제조시스템(FMS)에서 다단계스케줄링 문제를 효율적으로 해결하기 위한 적응형 혼합유전 알고리즘(ahGA) 접근법을 제안한다. 제안된 ahGA는 FMS의 해를 개선시키기 위하여 이웃탐색기법을 사용하며, 유전탐색과정에서의 수행도를 향상시키기 위해 유전알고리즘(GA)의 파라메터들을 조정하기 위한 적응형 구조를 사용한다. 수치실험에서는 제안된 ahGA와 기존의 알고리즘들 간의 수행도를 비교하기 위하여 두가지형태의 다단계스케줄링문제를 제시한다. 실험결과는 제안된 ahGA가 기존의 알고리즘들 보나 더 뛰어난 수행도를 보여주고 있다.

  • Simulation is known to be a valuable tool for design and operation of Flexible Manufacturing Systems(FMSs) under study. However, in order for simulation to be useful, lots of knowledges about the behavior of system to be designed, statistics for output analysis, modeling techniques and a specific simulation language are required by the simulationist. In this paper a way to build simulation support system for nonexperts at simulation will be described and a simulation support system for FMS design and operation developed by the authors will be demonstrated.

  • Recently, neural network is recognized as a new approach to solve jobshop scheduling problems in manufacturing system. Scheduling problem is known to be a difficult combinational explosive problem with domain-dependence variations in general. In addition, the needs to achieve a good performance in flexible manufacturing system increase the dimensions of decision complexity. Therefore, mathematical approach to solve realistic problems could be failed to find optimal or optimal-trending. In this paper a technique with neural network for jobs grouping by job-attributes and Gaussian machine network for generating to near-optimal sequence is presented.

  • This paper describes an intelligent control-based job scheduler, named ESIJOBS, for flexible manufacturing system. In order to construct rulebase of this system, traditional rules of job scheduling in FMS are examined and evaluated. This result and the repetitional simulations with graphic monitoring system are used to form the rulebase of ESIJOBS, which is composed of three parts:six part selection rules, four machine center selection rules, and twenty-one metarules. Appropriate scheduling rule sets are selected by this rulebase and manufacturing system status. The performances of all simulations are affected by random breakdowns of major FMS components during each simulation. Six criteria are used to evaluate the performance of each scheduling. The two modes of ESIJOBS are simulated and compared with combinational 24 rule-set simulations. In this comparison ESIJOBS dominated the other rule-set simulations and showed the most excellent performance particularly in three criteria.

  • 현대의 생산환경에서 널리 사용되고 있는 생산시스템의 형태는 FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System, 유연생산 시스템)로, FMS 는 다품종 소량생산과 생산성 향상이라는 두 가지 목표에 가장 적합한 형태라고 할 수 있다. 하지만 FMS에는 시스템의 효율을 저하시키는 blocking, starving, deadlock 등이 존재하며 이들의 영향을 줄이고자 재공재고의 일시적 저장공간인 버퍼를 설치하게 된다. 시스템내의 제약으로 인해 버퍼의 총 용량은 제한적이므로, 효율적인 버퍼관리는 시스템 성능 향상을 가능하게 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 FMS의 각 Workstation의 작업량을 고려한 버퍼 할당을 통해 시스템 효율 향상을 추구하고, 시뮬레이션 과정을 통해 검증해 보고자 한다.
