  • In this paper, several problems which are considered to design and operate FMS are discussed. To improve performance of system, these problems should be solved efficiently. For this reason, a great deal of researches have been undergone in this field. Based on this situation, the relevant FMS literature is discussed.

  • 생산시스템의 효율적 설계/구축/운용에 상용 시뮬레이션 소프트웨어가 최근 급속히 이용되고 있다. 특히 복잡한 논리에 의해 제어되는 FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System)의 시뮬레이션에서는 동적인 상태변화의 파악이 중요하며, 거의 유사한 하드웨어와 소프트웨어의 조합에 의해 시스템이 구축될 수 있다는 특징을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 FMS모델 구축에 필요한 구성요소를 갖추고 있는 상용시뮬레이션 소프트웨어를 생산시스템 구축 및 운용모델 설계에 이용한 사례를 소개하고자 한다.

  • This paper deals with the production scheduling problems of a dedicated Flexible Manufacturing System. In this work, a new mathematical formulation is proposed and two heuristic algorithms which can generate real-time schedules are suggested. Example problems to demonstrate the good performance and the validity of these two proposed algorithms are also included.

  • Due-date is an important factor in Flexible Manufacturing System scheduling. Even though most of researchers have focused part selection and loading problem using fixed due-date assignment rules, FMSs consist of multi-function machines which facilitate alternative processes. This research investigates interactions of three dispatching mechanisms, three NSS (Next Station Selection) rules and four due-date assignment rules using simulation. Both cost-based and time-based performance measures are considered in this research.

  • Tooling is now considered as a major limiting resource for highly automated manufacturing systems to be operated unattendedly. In this paper, various issues in tooling are introduced and discussed. The importance of appropriate selection of tooling strategies is discussed and simulation experiments are performed to see how the tooling strategies affect the system performance in automated manufacturing systems. This paper also presents a tool management system developed in Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials.

  • FMS(Flesible Manufacturing System), FMX(Flexible Manufacturing Cell)와 같은 유연 생산시스템 뿐만 아니고 공장자동화(FA)의 최하위 단위인 절삭가공 공작기계에 대한 무인화의 실현은 머지않은 장래에 완성될 IMS(Intelligent Manufacturing System)시스템이 구축에 있어서 최대의 걸림돌이 되고 있다. 전통적인 생산시스템에서는 경험을 가진 작업자에 의해 절삭공정이 감시되어지며, 만약 이상이 발생했을 때에는 그 상태에 따른 적절한 조치를 즉시 취할 수 있었다. 그러나 급속도로 연구가 진행되는 무인생산 시스템에서는 이러한 작업자의 역할이 컴퓨터에 의한 자동적인 감시 및 제어 시스템으로 대체되어야 한다. 이러한감시활동 중에서도 공구마모 및 파단의 검출은 효율적인 공구교환정책, 가공물의 품위유지 및 공구와 공작기계의 보호를 위해서 가장 중요한 부분으로 취급되고 있다.

Therefore, flexible automatization or flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) offer numerous advantages over alternative manufacturing methods. In this state, a in-process monitoring is one of the important flexible automation system. And as use of NC and CNC machine tool has been increasing, cutting work has automating and it is necessary to develop the automatic production system combined a couple of machine tool. Thus, in this paper to search examination it can measure the tool wear and the tool life and can be more practical research subject.

  • Many firms have applied flexible manufacturing systems as a means of increasing productivity, profitability, and quality. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to develop the more efficient justification model through an analytical scoring model with the quantitative factors, flexibility factors, and safety factors under uncertainty. In this paper, the three factors for properly comparing and evaluating of flexible manufacturing systems are presented. Especially, this paper has emphasized the flexibility and safety factor; the one consists of organization assessment, process treatment function, products and products quantity, useful life assesment, and software function, the other presents risk assesment, Y2K problem, safety device analysis, total productive management system, safety management. Finally, a normalized scoring model by the new flexibility and safety factors can be used in real fields for flexible manufacturing systems project selection under uncertainty.

  • This paper presents a new generic Petri net model for design and performance evaluation of a flexible assembly system with dual kanban. The architectural design of the model is derived from a generic bill of materials and the combination of FMS and FAS concepts. Two approaches for analysis and performance evaluation of the new model base on the theory of invariant analysis and linear programming are also introduced. Finally, the effect of different processing times between FMS-FAS on the number of kanban cards is investigated.
