  • A symbolic layout generator, called Flexible Module Generator (FMG), has been developed for transgorming a given CMOS circuit netlist into an optimized symbolic layout. Contrary to other conventional module generators which place transistors either in horizontal or in vertical direction, FMG places transittors in any hence can multiples of 90$^{\circ}$. This flexible layout style can maximize the diffusion sharing and hence can reduce the wire-length for both of area minimization and performance improvement. In FMG, transistors are initially randomly placed and then selected transistors are iteratively replaced using an optimization technique based on simulated evolution. Whenever a transistor is replaced, the affected nets are rerouted. Constraints on the shape, aspect ratio, and critical path delays are considered during the optimization process. Routing is performed by using a modified maze router on polysilicon, metal 1, and metal 2 interconnection layers. additional routing grids are added, if necessary, for complete routing. Unused rows or columns are removed after routing for area minimization. Experimental reasults show that FMG synthesizes satisfactory layouts.

  • The fusogenic membrane glycoprotein (FMG) derived from the human endogenous retrovirus-W (HERV-W) exhibits fusogenic properties, making it a promising candidate for cancer gene therapy. When cells are transfected with HERV-W FMG, they can fuse with neighboring cells expressing the receptor, resulting in the formation of syncytia. These syncytia eventually undergo cell death within a few days. In addition, it has been observed that an HERV-W env mutant, which is truncated after amino acid 483, displays increased fusogenicity compared to the wild-type HERV-W env. In this study, we observed syncytium formation upon transfection of HeLa and TE671 human cancer cells with plasmids containing the HERV-W 483 gene. To explore the potential of a semi-replication-competent retroviral (s-RCR) vector encoding HERV-W 483 for FMG-mediated cancer gene therapy, we developed two replication-defective retroviral vectors: a gag-pol vector encoding HERV-W 483 (MoMLV-HERV-W 483) and an env vector encoding VSV-G (pCLXSN-VSV-G-EGFP). When MoMLV-HERV-W 483 and pCLXSN-VSV-G-EGFP were co-transfected into HEK293T cells to produce the s-RCR vector, gradual syncytium formation was observed. However, the titers of the s-RCR virus remained consistently low. To enhance gene transfer efficiency, we constructed an RCR vector encoding HERV-W 483 (MoMLV-10A1-HERV-W 483), which demonstrated replication ability in HEK293T cells. Infection of A549 and HT1080 human cancer cell lines with this RCR vector induced syncytium formation and subsequent cell death. Consequently, both the s-RCR vector and RCR encoding HERV-W 483 hold promise as valuable tools for cancer gene therapy.

  • In this article, combination of the FAS-FMG multi-grid method and the Krylov subspace method was presented in solving two dimensional driven-cavity flows. Three algorithms of the Krylov subspace method, CG, CGSTAB(Bi-CG Stabilized) and GMRES method were tested with MILU preconditioner. As a smoother of the pressure correction equation, the MILU-CG is recommended rather than MILU-GMRES(k) or MILU-CGSTAB, since the MILU-GMRES(k) preconditioner has too much computation on the coarse grid compared to the MILU-CG one. As for the momentum equation, relatively cheap smoother like SIP solver may be sufficient.

  • The convergence of finite volume method (FVM) or discrete ordinate method (DOM) is known to degrade for optical thickness greater than unity and large scattering albedo. The present article presents a convergence acceleration procedure for the FVM based on a full approximation storage (FAS) multigrid method. Among a variety of multigrid cycles, the V-cycle is used and the full multigrid algorithm (FMG) is applied to an analysis of radiation in irregular two-dimensional geometry. Solution convergence is discussed for the several cases of various optical thickness and scattering albedo. At small scattering albedo and optical thickness, there is no advantage to using the multigrid method for calculation CPU time. For large scattering albedo greater than 0.5 and optical thickness greater than unity, however, the multigrid method improves the convergence and the solution is rapidly obtained.

  • To predict diffusion and movement of k pollutants In coastal urban region a numerical simulation shouts be consider atmospheric flow field with land-sea breeze, mountain-valley wand and urban effects. In this study we used Lagrangian [article dispersion method In the atmospheric flow field of Pusan coastal region to depict diffusion and movement of the Pollutants emoted from particular sources and employed two grid system, one for large scale calculating region with the coarse mesh grid (CMG) and the other for the small region with the One mesh 914 (FMG). It was found that the dispersion pattern of the pollutants followed local circulation system in coastal urban area and wale air pollutants exhausted from Sasang moved Into Baekyang and Jang moutain, air pollutants from Janglim moved into Hwameong-dong region.

  • To predict the effects of air pollutant in the coastal region, we have developed the air pollutant model, the reaction model and the deposition of NO, $NO_2, and O_3$. And the numerical model of air pollutant concentration employed the nested technique to calculate with the higher resolution for the area. The nested technique used two grid systems, one for the large scale calculating region with the coarse mesh grid (CMG) and the other for the small scale region with the fine grid (FMG). In other to prove the validity of the simulation model the calculations were conducted for the present situation. The results of them reasonably agree with the observed data and proved the validity of the model.

  • In this paper, we solve the three-dimensional biharmonic equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions of second kind using the full multigrid (FMG) algorithm. We derive a finite difference approximations for the biharmonic equation on a 18 point compact stencil. The unknown solution and its second derivatives are carried as unknowns at grid points. In the multigrid methods, we use a fourth order interpolation to producing a new intermediate unknown functions values on a finer grid, and the full weighting restriction operators to calculating the residuals at coarse grid points. A set of test problems gives excellent results.

  • Spectrum analysis of surface electromyogram (FMG) signals is an effective approach to the study of localized muscular fatigue during isometric contraction. Many investigators have con firmed the frequency of the EMG signals being lowered during sustained contaction. In this study, the cyclic loading tasks were performed, and a comparison was made for the median power frequency shift pattern of the EMG signals with the sustained contraction of the same load. The median power frequency shift of the EMG signals for the cyclic loading task was found to be a part of that for the sustained contraction. Based on this result, a new muscle fatigue index was computed by normalizing the duration of the sustained contraction. A fatigue index was obtained as a function of exertion level and the work/rest schedule. With the proposed fatigue index, it is possible to evaluate or predict the degree of muscular fatigue for a physically demanding task.
