Despite a series of various developments in underwater acoustic sensor networks, there are still occasions of loss of connection over the network. Because sufficient amounts of drawbacks causing disconnections posed particularly in the middle of connection over the network emerge in the ocean environment, there is a need of new testing mechanism for underwater acoustic networks. In this paper, we proposed to investigate the most vital parts of the network deployment whether they function well in order, without any failure so as to identify where exactly communication process problems and failures are. We introduce step-wised out-test mechanism for UWASNS and accomplished the mechanism by implementing experiments and rigorously checked all the underwater devices utilizing out-test function. Experimental results and out-test function are evinced by implementing, in order to explain our system and conclude with possible future improvements.
This study was carried out to develop Tablet PC based customizing system for fine mapping of forest cover type. The major contents and characteristics of FIS developed in this study were as follows. Field Investigation System (FIS) has a merit of accessibility to display exact location in various spatial data with position information received from the GPS. FIS can be used to record and manage many field information on which field investigation is done, with the help of the memo tool, field-sheet tool, calculating distance and area with measuring tool as well as editing forest type. It is possible to do field investigation effectively using FIS developed in this study. Accordingly, investigation and time costs can be reduced and field-work productivity will be improved.
The performance characteristics of a smoke damper, which aims to suppress the penetration of smoke to a safe area, have been tested under the regulation of the FIS 001. However, the improvement of the test methods and the regulation has consecutively been requested. From a view-point of fluid mechanical theory, a pressure control damper, that is installed at the end of the flow control system, is important and it dominates flow characteristics in all designed flow systems. In this study, the weak points of the regulation of the FIS 001 concerned with the pressure control damper was visited and the some important characteristics of the damper was examined. Based on these results, it was confirmed that the effects of flow disturbance in the air supplying duct on the performance of the damper are not significant. This results gives some information for the modification of the experimental regulation concerned to the pressure control damper.
Background: Dental anxiety in children is a major barrier in patient management. If dental anxiety in pediatric patients is assessed during the first visit, it will not only aid in management but also help to identify patients who are in need of special care to deal with their fear. Nowadays, children and adults are highly interested in multimedia and are closely associated with them. Children usually prefer motion pictures on electronic devices than still cartoons on paper. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate a newly designed scale, the animated emoji scale (AES), which uses motion emoticons/animojis to assess dental anxiety in children during their first dental visit, and compare it with the Venham picture test (VPT) and facial image scale (FIS). Methods: The study included 102 healthy children aged 4-14 years, whose dental anxiety was measured using AES, VPT, and FIS during their first dental visit, and their scale preference was recorded. Results: The mean anxiety scores measured using AES, FIS, and VPT, represented as $mean{\pm}SD$, were $1.78{\pm}1.19$, $1.93{\pm}1.23$, and $1.51{\pm}1.84$, respectively. There was significant difference in the mean anxiety scores between the three scales (Friedman test, P < 0.001). The Pearson's correlation test showed a very strong correlation (0.73) between AES and VPT, and a strong correlation between AES and FIS (0.88), and FIS and VPT (0.69), indicating good validity of AES. Maximum number of children (74.5%) preferred AES. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that the AES is a novel and child-friendly tool for assessing dental anxiety in children.

This research uses artificial intelligence methods for computer network intrusion detection system modeling. Primary classification is done using self-organized maps (SOM) in two levels, while the secondary classification of ambiguous data is done using Sugeno type Fuzzy Inference System (FIS). FIS is created by using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The main challenge for this system was to successfully detect attacks that are either unknown or that are represented by very small percentage of samples in training dataset. Improved algorithm for SOMs in second layer and for the FIS creation is developed for this purpose. Number of clusters in the second SOM layer is optimized by using our improved algorithm to minimize amount of ambiguous data forwarded to FIS. FIS is created using ANFIS that was built on ambiguous training dataset clustered by another SOM (which size is determined dynamically). Proposed hybrid model is created and tested using NSL KDD dataset. For our research, NSL KDD is especially interesting in terms of class distribution (overlapping). Objectives of this research were: to successfully detect intrusions represented in data with small percentage of the total traffic during early detection stages, to successfully deal with overlapping data (separate ambiguous data), to maximize detection rate (DR) and minimize false alarm rate (FAR). Proposed hybrid model with test data achieved acceptable DR value 0.8883 and FAR value 0.2415. The objectives were successfully achieved as it is presented (compared with the similar researches on NSL KDD dataset). Proposed model can be used not only in further research related to this domain, but also in other research areas.
We carry out a systematic study of Galactic supernova remnants (SNRs) using the AKARI Far Infrared Surveyor (FIS) survey data. The AKARI Infrared Astronomical Satellite observed the whole sky using the four FIS bands covering 50 to 180 microns with ~1 arcmin resolution. The all-sky coverage with high-spatial resolution provides an unprecedented opportunity to study diffuse, extended far-infrared (FIR) sources such as SNRs. We have searched for FIR counterparts to all 274 known Galactic SNRs, and investigate their FIR properties of identified SNRs. We report preliminary results of the study.

This paper introduces a new method to solve Similarity Recognition for Cloth Products, which is based on Fuzzy logic and Particle swarm optimization algorithm. For convenience, it is called the SRCPFP method hereafter. In this paper, the SRCPFP method combines Fuzzy Logic (FL) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to solve similarity recognition for cloth products. First, it establishes three features, length, thickness, and temperature resistance, respectively, for each cloth product. Subsequently, these three features are engaged to construct a Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) which can find out the similarity between a query cloth and each sampling cloth in the cloth database D. At the same time, the FIS integrated with the PSO algorithm can effectively search for near optimal parameters of membership functions in eight fuzzy rules of the FIS for the above similarities. Finally, experimental results represent that the SRCPFP method can realize a satisfying recognition performance and outperform other well-known methods for similarity recognition under considerations here.

Wide range frequency pulses occur in a car crash test. Until now, low frequency under 400Hz has been used to determine an airbag deployment criteria. Also, FIS (Front Impact Sensor) has been used to detect the crash pulse in early stage. Nowadays, technology to determine an airbag delpoyment criteria by using a high frequency crash pulse without FIS is being focused on. In this paper, the signal transmissibility of high frequency pulse for two different cars was studied. Also, signal transfer test of high frequency pulse was done by using a high speed ball impact. Signal runtime of the frontal impact is compared with that of the side impact. The signal transmissibility difference due to the car structure difference was discussed and structure change for improving the signal transmissibility was proposed.

M2M technology enables us to "Things" and collect various kinds of information from "Things". M2M is defined as a technology that enables electronic and mechanical devices to communicate with each other seamlessly and perform actions without human intervention. In this paper, we review some security solutions for M2M devices and show our light weight framework which is responsible for security of constrained M2M devices. In addition to the above-mentioned ones, we propose the framework can be applied for constrained environment and give conclusion and future works.
This paper proposes a numerical method based on domain decomposition to find approximate solutions for one-dimensional convection-diffusion equations with Neumann boundary conditions. First, the equations are transformed into convection-diffusion equations with Dirichlet conditions. Second, the author introduces the Prediction/Correction Domain Decomposition (PCDD) method and estimates errors for the interface prediction scheme, interior scheme, and correction scheme using known error estimations. Finally, the author compares the PCDD algorithm with the fully explicit scheme (FES) and the fully implicit scheme (FIS) using three examples. In comparison to FES and FIS, the proposed PCDD algorithm demonstrates good results.
