When using the FDM to create a 3D object, a thermoplastic filament is heated to its melting point and then extruded layer by layer. Although the FDM printing process has many advantages, its accuracy, and surface finish are not satisfactory. In recent years, much research has been devoted to improving the accuracy of the FDM printing process. The temperature difference between the nozzle and the interior of the chamber of a 3D printer is one of the important parameters affecting the printing process. In this study, we propose a methodology to reduce this temperature difference through design improvement. In addition, we elucidate how this design improvement affects product quality. The FDM printing process is conventionally carried out in a closed chamber. However, in this study, an open heating system is used to reduce the temperature. The FDM printing processes were simulated using FEM analysis.
In this study, fused deposition modellig(FDM) 3D printing technology has been applied directly to polyester voil fabric to produce 3D printed lace/voil composite fabrics. A stereolithograpy(STL) file with a lace type 3D modelling under the various thickness were prepared and transformed into a g-code file using a g-code generator. The extrusion conditions for FDM 3D printing were controlled by 50mm/s of nozzle speed, $235^{\circ}C$ of nozzle temperature, $40^{\circ}C$ of heating bed temperature. 3D printed lace/voil composite fabriscs manufactured by 3D printing based on FDM using a thermoplactic polyurethane(TPU) filaments were obtained. To evaluate the mechanical properties and washability of the fabricated 3D printed lace/voil composite fabric, KES-FB system test, washing fastness test and dry cleaning resistance test were conducted. As 3D printing thickness increased, KOSHI, NUMERI, and FUKURAMI of 3D printed lace/voil composite fabric increased. From the results of the primary hand value test, 3D printed lace/voil composite fabrics were confirmed to be applicable to women's summer garments. As a result of the washability and dry cleaning resistance test of the 3D printed lace/voil composite fabrics, all samples were graded 4-5.

In the past few years, three-dimensional (3D) printing has been developed as a rapid prototyping (RP) technique. The fused deposition modeling (FDM)-type 3D printing is one of the most useful RP methods; however, it still has several disadvantages, such as low conductivity, heat degradation, and low surface quality. In this study, test specimens are fabricated using an FDM-type 3D printer with an ABS material. Then, the specimens undergo post-processing on submerging in acetone with various processing times. As the processing time increases, surface roughness is enhanced significantly within the first five seconds by chemical processing, following which the processing effects are reduced. Furthermore, post processing causes the ultimate strength and strain to increase slightly with increased processing time.

This paper concerns the possibility of 3D printing reverse idle gears for tractor transmission. For the purposes of this experiment, idle gears were manufactured using a SLA 3D printer, FDM 3D printer, and through machining. The accuracy of the idle gears produced in these three different ways were evaluated by the properties of their outer diameter, inner diameter, roundness, concentricity, parallelism, span, backlash, and gear grade. The tooth characteristics of the idle gears were evaluated by their profile, lead, and the pitch of the gears. The results of this experiment determined that the surface conditions created by the finishing process had a significant impact on the dimensional accuracy of the gears and the characteristics of their teeth.

3D printing has been expanding beyond the bio/nano field to the automobile and aviation industries. 3D-printing technology has to overcome real problems to have economic value compared to its unlimited usability. Typically, the difference in mechanical strength along the lamination direction requires sufficient research to ensure reliability. In this paper, we study the anisotropic properties of ABS based on the stacking method of FDM 3D printing. Specifically, the mechanical properties of ABS material are determined through a tensile test and 3-point bending test, and the in-plane orthotropic properties are ascertained.

Recently, to improve convenience, flexible electronics are quickly being developed for a number of application areas. Flexible electronic devices comprise characters such as being bendable, stretchable, foldable, and wearable. Effectively manufacturing flexible electronic devices requires high efficiency, low costs, and simple processes for manufacturing technology. Through this study, we enabled the rapid production of multifunctional flexible bending sensors using a simple, low-cost Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printer. Furthermore, we demonstrated the possibility of the rapid production of a range of functional flexible bending sensors using a simple, low-cost FDM 3D printer. Accurate and reproducible functional materials made by FDM 3D printers are an effective tool for the fabrication of flexible sensor electronic devices. The 3D-printed flexible bending sensor consisted of polyurethane and a conductive filament. Two patterns of electrodes (straight and Hilbert curve) for the 3D printing flexible sensor were fabricated and analyzed for the characteristics of bending displacement. The experimental results showed that the straight curve electrode sensor sensing ability was superior to the Hilbert curve electrode sensor, and the electrical conductivity of the Hilbert curve electrode sensor is better than the straight curve electrode sensor. The results of this study will be very useful for the fabrication of various 3D-printed flexible sensor devices with multiple degrees of freedom that are not limited by size and shape.

In this paper, the performances of the electrical characteristics of the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D-printed flexible resistance sensor was evaluated. The FDM 3D printing flexible resistive sensor is composed of flexible-material thermoplastic polyurethane and a conductive PLA (carbon black conductive polylactic acid) polymer. While 3D printing, polymer filaments heat up quickly before being extruded and cooled down quickly. Polymers have poor thermal conductivity so the heating and cooling causes unevenness, which then results in internal stress on the printed parts due to the rapidity of the heating and cooling. Electrical resistance measurements show that the 3D-printed flexible sensor is unstable due to internal stress, so the 3D-printed flexible sensor resistance curve does not match the increases and decreases in the displacement curve. Therefore, annealing was performed to eliminate the mismatch between electrical resistance and displacement. Annealing eliminates residual stress on the sensor, so the electrical resistance of the sensor increases and decreases in proportion to displacement. Additionally, the resistance is lowered in comparison to before annealing. The results of this study will be very useful for the fabrication of various devices that employ 3D-printed flexible sensor that have multiple degrees of freedom and are not limited by size and shape.

In this paper, the effect of different 3D printing parameters including laminated angle and annealing temperature is observed their effect on FDM conductive 3D printing. In FDM 3D printing, a conductive filament is heated quickly, extruded, and then cooled rapidly. FDM 3D Print conductive filament is a poor heat conductor, it heats and cools unevenly causing the rapid heating and cooling to create internal stress. when the printed conductive specimens this internal stress can be increase electrical resistance and decrease electrical conductivity. Therefore, This experiment would like to use annealing to remove internal stress and increase electrical conductivity. The result of experiment when 3D printing conductive specimen be oven cooling of annealing temperature $120^{\circ}C$ electrical resistance appeared decrease than before annealing. So We have found that 3D printing annealing removes internal stresses and increases the electrical conductivity of printed specimens. These results are very useful for making conductive 3D printing electronic circuit, sensor ect...with electrical conductance suitable for the application.

PLA 3D printed capsule of FDM method has advantages of mass production and low cost. However, it has a different strength depending on the direction in witch it is laminated. In this paper, structural design of several capsules, FEM analysis, and Compressive strength tests were conducted. As a result, the proposed capsule has a strong load of up to 217.9% compared to general capsule without a reinforcing structure.
Recently, the size of the IoT sensor has been decreased and the collecting direction of the IoT sensor for acquiring the data have been changed from 2D to 3D. It makes sensor structure complex. In the fabrication of the complex structure, 3D printing technology has more useful than traditional manufacturing technologies. Among 3D printing technologies, FDM (fused deposition modeling) is a candidate technology to fabricate a small IoT sensor because the price of the machine and the material is cheap. In the FDM process, a 3D shape is made by depositing the melted filament. Recently, the patent of FDM technology is expired and cheat machines are developed based on the open-source. In the FDM process, mechanical properties of a fabricated part is affected by a lots of factors such as the kind of material and process parameters. Among them, infill is affecting the mechanical properties and the production lead time as well. In this work, a new method to optimize the FDM process with the consideration of mechanical property and production lead time was proposed. To verify the method, the fabrications were performed with the different infill rates. The results of tensile tests were analyzed to verify the proposed method.
