히스토그램을 이용한 얼굴 표정 인식 방법 (A Face Expression Recognition Method using Histograms)

  • Generally, feature area detection methods are widely used for face expression recognition by detecting the feature areas of human eyes, eyebrows and mouth. In this paper, we proposed a face expression recognition method using the histograms of the face, eyes and mouth for many applications including robot technology. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a new type of face expression recognition capability compared to conventional methods.

  • In this paper, we propose a detection method for facial features in color images with various backgrounds and face poses. To begin with, the proposed method extracts face candidacy region from images with various backgrounds, which have skin-tone color and complex objects, via the color and edge information of face. And then, by using the elliptical shape property of face, we correct a rotation, scale, and tilt of face region caused by various poses of head. Finally, we verify the face using features of face and detect facial features. In our experimental results, it is shown that accuracy of detection is high and the proposed method can be used in pose-invariant face recognition system effectively

단일 정면 얼굴 영상을 이용한 게임 사용자의 3차원 얼굴 생성 방법 (A 3D Face Generation Method using Single Frontal Face Image for Game Users)

  • In this paper, we propose a new method of generating 3D face by using single frontal face image and 3D generic face model. By using active appearance model (AAM), the control points among facial feature points were localized in the 2D input face image. Then, the transform parameters of 3D generic face model were found to minimize the error between the 2D control points and the corresponding 2D points projected from 3D facial model. Finally, by using the obtained model parameters, 3D face was generated. We applied this 3D face to 3D game framework and found that the proposed method could make a realistic 3D face of game user.

  • This paper deals with face detection and recognition using ellipsodal information and wavelet packet analysis. We proposed two methods. First, Face detection method uses general ellipsodal information of human face contour and we find eye position on wavelet transformed face images A novel method for recognition of views of human faces under roughly constant illumination is presented. Second, The proposed Face recognition scheme is based on the analysis of a wavelet packet decomposition of the face images. Each face image is first located and then, described by a subset of band filtered images containing wavelet coefficients. From these wavelet coefficients, which characterize the face texture, the Euclidian distance can be used in order to classify the face feature vectors into person classes. Experimental results are presented using images from the FERET and the MIT FACES databases. The efficiency of the proposed approach is analyzed according to the FERET evaluation procedure and by comparing our results with those obtained using the well-known Eigenfaces method. The proposed system achieved an rate of 97%(MIT data), 95.8%(FERET databace)

JointBoost 알고리즘을 이용한 기울어진 얼굴 검출 (Inclined Face Detection using JointBoost algorithm)

  • AdaBoost 알고리즘을 이용한 얼굴 검출 방법은 가장 빠르고 신뢰성 있는 얼굴 검출 알고리즘의 하나로 이를 향상하거나 확장한 많은 알고리즘들이 제안되었다. 그러나 이전의 접근들은 대부분 정면 얼굴만을 다루고 있고 AdaBoot 알고리즘을 정면과 기울어진 얼굴에 동일한 특징으로 적용함으로써 기울어진 얼굴에 대한 분별 성능이 제한적이었다. 또한 회전된 얼굴을 검출하기 위하여 입력된 영상을 회전하여 정면 얼굴 검출 방법을 적용하거나 회전된 각도에 따라 다른 검출기를 적용하는 기존 기법들은 연산량이 많고 검출률이 저하되는 문제를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해 JointBoost를 이용한 기울어진 얼굴 검출 방법을 제안한다. JointBoost를 통해 클래스간의 공유된 feature들를 찾음으로써 연산량과 샘플 복잡도를 감소시켰다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안된 방법의 검출률이 동일한 반복 횟수를 가지는 학습에서 기존의 AdaBoost 기법에 비해 2% 이상 우수함을 보인다. 또한 제안된 방법은 얼굴의 존재를 검출할 뿐만 아니라 기울어진 방향에 대한 정보도 제공할 수 있다.

Online Face Avatar Motion Control based on Face Tracking

  • In this paper, a novel system for avatar motion controlling by tracking face is presented. The system is composed of three main parts: firstly, LCS (Local Cluster Searching) method based face feature detection algorithm, secondly, HMM based feature points recognition algorithm, and finally, avatar controlling and animation generation algorithm. In LCS method, face region can be divided into many small piece regions in horizontal and vertical direction. Then the method will judge each cross point that if it is an object point, edge point or the background point. The HMM method will distinguish the mouth, eyes, nose etc. from these feature points. Based on the detected facial feature points, the 3D avatar is controlled by two ways: avatar orientation and animation, the avatar orientation controlling information can be acquired by analyzing facial geometric information; avatar animation can be generated from the face feature points smoothly. And finally for evaluating performance of the developed system, we implement the system on Window XP OS, the results show that the system can have an excellent performance.

조명분리 고유얼굴에 기반한 조명에 강인한 얼굴 인식 (Illumination-Robust Face Recognition based on Illumination-Separated Eigenfaces)

  • 얼굴 인식 방법 중 인기 있는 고유얼굴 기반 얼굴 인식 방법은 훈련 얼굴 이미지 세트에 대해 PCA를 적용하여 얻어진 고유얼굴을 이용한다. 따라서 훈련 얼굴 이미지들의 조명들과 다른 조명의 환경들에서는 신뢰성 있는 성능을 얻기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 조명의 영향을 배제한 조명분리 고유얼굴 기반 얼굴 인식 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 얼굴 모델 이미지 세트의 고유얼굴 공간을 구성된 얼굴 조명 부분공간에 대해 직교 분해하여 얻은 조명분리 고유얼굴들을 이용한다. 실험을 통해서 조명분리 고유얼굴에 기반하는 제안된 얼굴 인식 방법이 기존 고유얼굴 기반 얼굴 인식 방법보다 조명의 영향에 보다 강인함을 확인하였다.

  • This paper presents an automatic pose-normalized 3D face data acquisition method using 2D and 3D information. We propose an automatic pose-normalized 3D face acquisition method that accomplishes 3D face modeling and 3D face pose-normalization at once. The proposed method uses 2D information with AAM (Active Appearance Model) and 3D information with 3D normal vector. The 3D face modeling system consists of 2 cameras and 1 projector. In order to verify proposed pose-normalized 3D modeling method, we made an experiment for 2.5D face recognition. The experimental result shows that proposed method is robust against pose variation.

조리실기 과목의 원격교육 활용을 위한 실증연구 - 2년제 조리전공 대학생을 대상으로 한 한식교과목을 중심으로 - (Application of Distance Learning to Practical Cooking Class - With a Focus on Korean Food Cooking Class in Culinary College Students -)

  • The current research aims to verify whether distance learning can be adopted in practical cooking class for Korean foods in a two-year college. The distance learning education can be a supplementary method to the traditional cooking class. The face-to-face teaching method and the distance learning method were compared in order to determine which of the one is more effective teaching method in the practical cooking class. The results of the present experimental study were analyzed based on the participant's learning expectation and satisfaction, the evaluation of the experimental process, and the academic performance. The results of this study showed that the participants in the face-to-face class evaluated their class experience higher than those in the distance learning class with respect to the participant's learning expectation and satisfaction, and the evaluation of the experimental process. On the contrary, regarding the academic performance, the participants in the distance learning class showed higher scores than those in the face-to-face class. The end result supports the claim that the distance learning method is more effective in the participants for gaining cooking knowledge.

색열화 및 부분 은폐에 강인한 ID얼굴 검지 (ID Face Detection Robust to Color Degradation and Partial Veiling)

  • 본 논문에서는 색열화와 부분 은폐에 강인한 특성을 갖는 ID얼굴(identificable face: 신원확인가능 얼굴) 검지방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 후보영역 분할, 후보창 추출, 은폐여부 판단의 세 단계로 구성된다. 후보영역 분할에서는 입력영상으로부터 피부색영역과 색열화된 얼굴구성요소(눈, 코, 입 영역)를 함께 찾아 E얼굴 후보영역을 분할한다. 후보창 추출에서는 후보영역내의 얼굴일 가능성이 있는 후보창들을 추출한다. 은폐여부 판단에서는 고유얼굴(eigenface)기법을 이용하여 고유얼굴들과 유사도가 가장 큰 후보창 하나가 결정되고, 이 후보창의 각 얼굴구성요소의 은폐되었는지 아닌지가 유사한 방법으로 결정된다. 실험결과, 제안한 검지방법은 색이 심하게 열화된 얼굴들과 은폐된 얼굴들을 포함하고 있는 얼굴 DB에서 색열화와 은폐를 고려하지 않은 얼굴검지방법에 비해 ID얼굴 검지율이 약 $11.4\%$ 향상됨을 확인하였다.
