The effect of transgene inactivation in T2, T3 and F2 generations was analyzed in progeny seedlings which had been generated by Agrobacterium (LBA4404/pBI121)-mediated transformation in Arabidopsis thaliana. In a system which investigated in the expression of $\beta$-glucuronidase(GUS)gene in kanamycin-resistant (ke $n^{R}$)seedlings, GUS inactivated seedlings were observed in 5 of 12 tested lines of T2 generation and the frequency of GUS inactivation was approximately 2.3%. Lines with multi-copies of T-DNA exhibited severe GUS gene inactivation with the frequency of 5.8% in T2 generation. In T3 generation lines exhibited GUS gene inactivation with the frequency of 1.3%. In contrast, inactivation increased dramatically up to 12.6% in multi-copy T-DNA line. A similar phenomenon was also found in F2 progeny from a transgenic line which had been crossed with wild-type Arabidopsis plant, WS-O (GUS gene inactivation frequency 9.9%). These results indicate that the foreign gene introduced into the plant was inactivated progressively in its transmission during subsequent generations and the transgenic line with multi-copies of T-DNA tended to show more increased inactivation.
Harn, Chang Yawl (Chonpuk U., Iri, Korea)-Studies on the interspecific crossing of FORSYTHIA genus. Kor. Jour. Bot. 4(1)1~8 1961: Interspecific crossing of two species, F. saxatilis and F. Koreana, was carried out in order to make clear the segregation ratio of style length, mode of fertility, the fertility of F1 generation, dioecism, and other taxonomic question, the result of which being summarized as follows: 1) Style length is segregated into 1:1 ratio. 2) The behaviro of fertility in the legitimate and illegitimate unions between the different species is exactly like that in the two dimorphic forms of the same species. 3) The mode of fertility between the long and short style of the F1 generation also follows that of the heterostyle plants. 4) No difficulties or irregularities are observed in the interspecific crossing and the F1's fertility. 5) In F1 generation exceedingly high morphological and physiological variations are observed. 6) The short style individual is well fertilized and sets seed when legitimately combined. The insistence that the short style is male, this genus being dioecious, is groundless. 7) Among F1 individuals, are observed a few dwarf-types with tiny and weak vegetative and reproductive organs. 8) The two species used behave in many ways like the different styles of the same species.
Seven flue-cured tobacco(Nicotiana tabacum) varieties and their 21 progenies in Fl and F2 generation, half diallel crosses(no reciprocal), were tested for the degree of heterosis and combining abilities in sucker producing character according to topping and suckering treatment. Significant difference in number and weight of sucker was observed among seven cultivars. The values of general combining ability(GCA) were greater than those of specific combining ability(SCA) in weight and number of sucker in F$_1$ generation. In topping and suckering plot, Cocker 86, McNair 944, and Va 115 revealed the significant negative GCA effects for number and weight of sucker, but By 104 and Speight G-28 did positive GCA. Without topping and suckering, GCA effects for sucker weight in Cocker 139 and Cocker 86 were negative and those for sucker number in Va. 115 were also negative. Negative SCA values in sucker weight could be observed in F$_1$ generation of Cocker 86 X BY 104 and Speiht G-28 X Cocker 86, in F$_2$ of Hicks $\times$ Speight G-28 and McNair 944 $\times$ BY 104 in topping and suckering plot. SCA in F$_1$ of McNair 944 X Cocker 86 and Speight G-28 X Cocker 139 was negative without topping and suckering. The value of heterosis in sucker producing character of F$_1$ hybrids was positive
The box tree pyralid, Glyphodes perspectalis, was reared on an artificial diet based on dried powder of box tree leaves, Buxus microphylla var. koreana, and INSECTA F-II (Nihon Nosan Co., Ltd) at a ratio of 3:7 (w:w) and analyzed in their developmental characteristics from $1^{st}$ to $4^{th}$ generation. The developmental period of larva reared on artificial diet was longer than that of larva reared on host plant. Significant difference in larval period was also observed between $1^{st}$ and other generation groups. Pupation rate was the highest in $4^{th}$ generation followed by $3^{rd}$, $2^{nd}$, $1^{st}$ and host plant group. Significant difference in pupal period was noted between $1^{st}$ and 3rd generation group. Emergence rate was the highest in $4^{th}$ generation group followed by $3^{rd}$, host plant, $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ generation group. There is a significant difference in male and female size between $1^{st}$ and $4^{th}$ generation group. Our result indicated that stable rearing of box tree pyralid through the year is possible by artificial diet, and the best adaptation to artificial diet was achieved at $4^{th}$ generation.
Partial dominance was exhibited by flowering(heading), panicle length, panicle numbers, $F_1$ag leaf length, 1000 kernel weight in $F_1$ and $F_2$ hybrids by 7 \times 7 and 5 \times 5 diallel crosses. Over dominance was exhibited by culm length, flag leaf width, appearance degree of panicle in $F_1$ generation of the crosses, and also over dominance was exhibited by kernel weight in $F_2$ generation of the crosses.
The objective of this study was to describe the nature of the inheritance of jumping as a behavioral trait and to analyze quantitatively the jumping height as a measure of vigor in two subspecies of mice. Two subspecies of mice, Yonakuni wild mouse (Y) and $CF_{{\sharp}1}$ laboratory mouse (C), were used as the parental types. Reciprocal mating between these two subspecies was made to produce subsequently the first and second generations. The first generation was $F_1$ (YC) resulting from $Y\;male{\times}C\;female$, and $F_1{^\prime}$ (CY) from $C\;male{\times}Y\;female$. The second generation $F_2$ (YCYC) was from mating $F_1{\times}F_1$ and $F_2{^\prime}$ (CYCY) from $F_1{^\prime}{\times}F_1{^\prime}$. Individuals were treated with a set of direct current shock apparatus at six weeks of age to evoke jumping. The results showed that the ratio between jumping and non jumping mice (J: NJ) for C was 0%:100% (0:1), which means that all C did not jump throughout the experiment, whereas Y was 68%:32% (2:1); and the $F_1$ and $F_2$ showed 65%:35% (2:1) and 51%:49% (1:1), respectively. All $F_1{^\prime}$ and $F_2{^\prime}$ individuals jumped as indicated by the ratio 100%:0% (1:0) for both these two genetic groups. Of the jumped mice, average height of the first three jumping observed for pooled sexes in Y, $F_1$, $F_2$, $F_1{^\prime}$ and $F_2{^\prime}$ were 19.3 cm, 19.3 cm, 18.0 cm, 19.9 cm and 16.4 cm, respectively. The distribution of jumping height showed a tendency to be a normal distribution. The jumping activity and jumping height may be affected by some major genes and polygenes, respectively.
The purpose of this experiment was to obtain the basic information on heterosis and inbreeding depression of quantitative characters in the silkworm by diallel crosses of seven varieties differing widely in each character. Period of 5th instar cocoon weight, cocoon layer weight, cocoon layer ratio, boiling off ratio, raw silk percent, bave length, bave weight, bave size, weight of first molting larva and fourth molting larva were investigated. The results obtained were summarized as follows : The degrees of positive heterosis of cocoon weight and cocoon layer weight were higher. Period of 5th instar and boiling off ratio were negative heterosis. In F1 generation, cocoon weight and bave weight showed positive heterobeltiosis, while fifth instar-period, cocoon layer ratio and boiling off ratio showed negative heterobeltiosis in the F1 and F2 generation. Inbreeding depression was observed in cocoon layer ratio and boiling off ratio.

Korean agriculture is currently experiencing difficulties as a cause of rural depopulation, aging of rural population, grain self-sufficiency rate decline, and deepening of climate change. It is necessary to ensure our country's agriculture industrial competitiveness in accordance with opening of FTA imports expanded. To ensure the underdeveloped competitive, Korean government defines the 3rd generation model from 1st generation model to extend the smart farms of Korean types. The agriculture smarting overcomes the growth limitations of agriculture, and efforts to develop 6th + ${\alpha}$ industry. In this paper, We define and verify the IoF(Internet of Farming)-Cloud based substantial services about 2rd generation model, and propose a greenhouse of IoF-Cloud testbed.
The Noise generation mechanisms of propane laminar premixed flames on a slot burner have been studied experimentally. The sound levels and frequencies were measured for various mixture flow rates (velocities) and equivalence ratios. The primary frequency of self-induced noise increases with the mean velocity of mixture as $f{\;}{\propto}{\;}U_f^{1.144}$ and the measured noise level increases with the mixture flow rate and equivalence ratio as $p{\;}{\propto}{\;}U_f^{1.7}$$F^{8.2}$. The nature of flame oscillation and the noise generation mechanisms are also investigated using a high speed CCD camera and a DSRL camera. The repetition of sudden extinction at the tip of flame is evident and the repetition rates are identical to the primary frequencies obtained from the FFT analysis of sound pressure signals. CH chemiluminescence intensities of the oscillating flames were also measured by PMT with a 431 nm(10 FWHM) band pass filter and compared to the pressure signals.
