By developing and using certain operators like those initiated by Burchnall-Chaundy, the authors aim at investigating several decomposition formulas associated with the $Kamp{\acute{e}}$ de $F{\acute{e}}riet$ function $F_{2:0;0}^{0:3;3}$ [x, y]. For this purpose, many operator identities involving inverse pairs of symbolic operators are constructed. By employing their decomposition formulas, they also present a new group of integral representations of Eulerian type for the $Kamp{\acute{e}}$ de $F{\acute{e}}riet$ function $F_{2:0;0}^{0:3;3}$ [x, y], some of which include several hypergeometric functions such as $_2F_1$, $_3F_2$, an Appell function $F_3$, and the $Kamp{\acute{e}}$ de $F{\acute{e}}riet$ functions $F_{2:0;0}^{0:3;3}$ and $F_{1:0;1}^{0:2;3}$.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm of welding bead detection and evaluation using geodesic active contour algorithm and high pass filter with image processing technique. The algorithm uses histogram equalization and high pass filter as gaussian filter to improve contrast. The image processing techniques smoothens the welding beads reduce the noise on an image. Then, the algorithm detects the welding bead area by applying the geodesic active contour algorithm and morphological ooperation. It also applies the balloon force that either inflates in, or deflates out the evolving contour for a better segmentation. After that, we propose a method for determining the quality of welding bead using effective length and width of the detected bead. In the experiments, our algorithm achieved the highest recall, precision, F-measure and IOU as 0.9894, 0.9668, 0.9780, and 0.8957 respectively. We compared the proposed algorithm with the conventional algorithms to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm achieved better performance compared to the conventional ones with a maximum computational time of 0.6 seconds for segmenting and evaluating one welding bead.
This study investigates patterns of the alignment of the accentual peaks in bisyllabic words of the CVNCV, CVNV, and CVNNV structures in North Kyungsang Korean. Based on the tonal alignment, patterns of the F0 pitch excursion are discussed relative to one another. Issues are addressed concerning how the tonal targets are aligned, and how the tonal specifications of nasals in postvocalic, intervocalic, and prevocalic environments are supplied in the LH, HL, and HH classes. Tonal specification of nasals in various environments is accounted for by extension of the L target, displacement of the pitch peak, and interpolation between two tonal targets, depending on the tonal class. The results in this study provide preliminary evidence that the categorical alignment of the tonal targets is implemented by simply checking the presence or absence of a nasal before or after the nucleus vowel on the segmental string, without reference to the constituency of the nasal in the syllable structure. However, the prosodic structure has a key role to play in explaining speaker-dependent variations in the tonal alignment. Sensitivity to tautosyllabicity has an effect on the shape of the F0 contour, and disparity in the patterns of the pitch excursion is represented as a function of syllable structure correlated with segmental composition of the nasal.
This paper presents a technique of imposing the prosodic features of a native speaker's utterance onto the same sentence uttered by a non-native speaker. Three acoustic aspects of the prosodic features were considered: the fundamental frequency (F0) contour, segmental durations, and the intensity contour. The fundamental frequency contour and the segmental durations of the native speaker's utterance were imposed on the non-native speaker's utterance by using the PSOLA (pitch-synchronous overlap and add) algorithm [1] implemented in Praat[2]. The intensity contour transfer was also done in Praat. The technique of transferring one or more of these prosodic features was elaborated and its implications in the area of language education were discussed.
This paper focused on glottal parameters contributing to the perception of loud voices because energy of a voice is not the only effective factor. We used a formant synthesizer to synthesize loud voices. We divided F0 tilt (the tilt of F0 contour), SQ (Speed Quotient), OQ (Open Quotient) and TL (spectral Tilt Level) into three levels to get different combinations with default values for the other synthesizer parameters. Analysis of listening tests indicated that F0 tilt, SQ, OQ and TL in descending order had significant influence on the perception of loud voices. F0 tilt had a far more significant effect than the others. The influence of SQ increased greatly with the exclusion of F0 tilt as a factor. The interaction between parameters was not significant.
The fundamental frequency, or f0, is an important acoustic measure in the prosody of human speech. The current study examined the f0 distribution of a corpus of spontaneous speech in order to provide normative data for Korean speakers. The corpus consists of 40 speakers talking freely about their daily activities and their personal views. Praat scripts were created to collect f0 values, and a majority of obvious errors were corrected manually by watching and listening to the f0 contour on a narrow-band spectrogram. Statistical analyses of the f0 distribution were conducted using R. The results showed that the f0 values of all the Korean speakers were right-skewed, with a pointy distribution. The speakers produced spontaneous speech within a frequency range of 274 Hz (from 65 Hz to 339 Hz), excluding statistical outliers. The mode of the total f0 data was 102 Hz. The female f0 range, with a bimodal distribution, appeared wider than that of the male group. Regression analyses based on age and f0 values yielded negligible R-squared values. As the mode of an individual speaker could be predicted from the median, either the median or mode could serve as a good reference for the individual f0 range. Finally, an analysis of the continuous f0 points of intonational phrases revealed that the initial and final segments of the phrases yielded several f0 measurement errors. From these results, we conclude that an examination of a spontaneous speech corpus can provide linguists with useful measures to generalize acoustic properties of f0 variability in a language by an individual or groups. Further studies would be desirable of the use of statistical measures to secure reliable f0 values of individual speakers.
The electrophoretic karyotypes of 6 species in different Fusarium sections were examined by using contour-clamped homogeneous electric field (CHEF) gel electrophoresis. Intact chromosomal DNA was prepared from protoplasts and up to 9 distinct bands were separated on 0.7% or 0.8% agarose gel under several different conditions. Putative chromosome numbers varied from 6 to 9 amd polymorphic karyotypes were observed in different Fusarium sections. Using Schizosaccharomyces pombe and Saccharomyces cerevisiae chromosomes as standards, the sizes of the Fusarium spp. chromosomes were estimated. The electrophoretic karyotypes of F. moniliforme and F. subglutinans (section Liseola) were similar. Unidentified filamentour fungi, F. beomiforme was much closer to F. axysporum (section Elecgans) in karyotype and the karyotypes of F. napiforme were more similar to those of section Liseola than any other sections. F. graminearum (section Discolor) had a distinctive electrophoretic karyotype.
Contour-clamped homogeneous electric field gel electrophoresis was used to establish electrophoretic karyotype for 10 species of Fusarium sections Sporotrichiella, Liseola, Gibbosum, Discolor and Martiella. Intact chromosomal DNA was isolated from fungal protoplast and separated under various conditions according to their size in order to improve DNA separation. The numbers of chromosome-sized DNA molecules for individual species ranged from 5-13, with individual chromosomes ranging from 0.78 Mb to 7.20 Mb in size. The total genome DNA size of each species was estimated at about 18.32 Mb to 48.20 Mb. Comparison of karyotype profiles following Southern hybridization analysis with a randomly selected genomic probe of F. oxysporum formae speciales litii was carried out.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare changes in soft and hard tissue and the histologic composition following early implant placement in sites with alveolar ridge preservation or spontaneous healing (SH), as well as implant performance up to 1 year after crown insertion. Methods: Thirty-five patients with either intact buccal bone plates or dehiscence of up to 50% following single-tooth extraction of incisors, canines, or premolars were included in the study. They were randomly assigned to undergo one of three procedures: deproteinized bovine bone mineral with 10% collagen (DBBM-C) covered by a collagen matrix (DBBM-C/CM), DBBM-C alone, or SH. At 8 weeks, implant placement was carried out, and cone-beam computed tomography scans and impressions were obtained for profilometric analysis. Patients were followed up after the final crown insertion and again at 1 year post-procedure. Results: Within the first 8 weeks following tooth extraction, the median height of the buccal soft tissue contour changed by -2.11 mm for the DBBM-C/CM group, -1.62 mm for the DBBM-C group, and -1.93 mm for the SH group. The corresponding height of the buccal mineralized tissue changed by -0.27 mm for the DBBM-C/CM group, -2.73 mm for the DBBM-C group, and -1.48 mm for the SH group. The median contour changes between crown insertion and 1 year were -0.19 mm in the DBBM-C/CM group, -0.09 mm in the DBBM-C group, and -0.29 mm in the SH group. Conclusions: Major vertical and horizontal ridge contour changes occurred, irrespective of the treatment modality, up to 8 weeks following tooth extraction. The DBBM-C/CM preserved more mineralized tissue throughout this period, despite a substantial reduction in the overall contour. All 3 protocols led to stable tissues for up to 1 year.
The current research examines whether pitch contour shapes in North Kyungsang pitch accent contrasts provide a phonetic dimension for phonological discreteness in a mimicry task. Two pitch accent continua resynthesized were created for HH vs. HL and HH vs. LH. To confirm a phonetic dimension for accounting for pitch accent categories in North Kyungsang Korean, the mimicries of speakers of two dialects (i.e., North Kyungsang & South Cholla) were compared. One of the findings showed that, for North Kyungsang speakers, the range of mean f0 peak times was a phonetic dimension undergoing a continuous shift within a stimulus continuum for both HH vs. HL and HH vs. LH. On the other hand, for South Cholla speakers, there were no apparent shifts around categorical boundaries for either HH vs. HL or HH vs. LH. Regarding individual mimicries on f0 peak timing, there are many variations. For HH vs. LH, three North Kyungsang speakers showed a discrete pattern reflecting a shift in phonological categories, but for HH vs. HL, there was no such distinction showing a categorical shift, though there were statistically significant differences for two speakers. Interestingly, one of the North Kyungsang speakers showed a continuous phonetic dimension for both HH vs. HL and HH vs. LH. Lastly, the f0 valley timing did not exhibit a discrete or gradient phonetic dimension for speakers of either dialect. On the basis of these results, what is interesting is that the tonal target such as high tone in North Kyungsang pitch accent categories within the autosegmental-metrical (AM) theory may be realized within individual cognitive systems for representing the interaction of perception and production.
