  • Conjugate heat transfer by steady laminar natural convection from a conducting tube with two vertical axial fins has been studied by a finite difference numerical procedure under basic conditions; $Ra=10_6$, Pr = 5 and $L_F=0.15$. The maximum local tube Nusselt number appears at ${\theta}=140^{\circ}$ for $L_F=0.06$, at ${\theta}=130^{\circ}$ for $L_F=0.30$ and at ${\theta}=120^{\circ}$ for $L_F=0.30$, $L_F=0.06$, respectively. The maximum mean Nusselt number shows at $L_F=0.18$ for the downward fin and at $L_F=0.12$ for the upward fin. Therefore the optimized fin length is $L_F{\approx}0.15$ under these conditions. At $L_F=0.15$, the mean Nusselt number by increasing Rayleigh number is remarkably increased for downward fin and then is slowly increased except for downward fin, it by increasing Prandtl number is apparently increased at $Pr{\leq}2$, and slightly increased at Pr>2.

한국 소아에서 7가 폐렴사슬알균 단백결합 백신의 추가접종 면역원성에 관한 연구 (Immunogenicity of 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine related to booster immunization in Korean children)

  • 목 적 : 본 연구는 우리나라 소아에서 면역원성에 근거한 추가접종의 필요성 여부를 확인하고자 하였다. 방 법 : 2006년 9월부터 2006년 12월까지 강남 차병원에 내원하여 검사를 위해 혈액 채취의 기회가 있었던 12-23개월 사이의 소아 39명을 대상으로 하였다. 7가 폐렴사슬알균 단백결합 백신의 접종력에 따라 기초접종 군과 추가접종 군으로 나누었다. 백신에 포함된 혈청형(4, 6B, 9V, 14, 18C, 19F, 23F)에 대하여 각각의 폐렴사슬알균 피막다당질 항체를 3세대 효소면역측정법으로 측정하였다. 결 과 : 각 혈청형에 대한 폐렴사슬알균 피막다당질 항체의 기하평균은 기초접종만 완료한 군보다 추가접종을 완료한 군에서 높았다(P<0.05). 폐렴사슬알균 피막다당질 항체가가 $0.35{\mu}g/mL$ 이상인 비율은 기초접종과 추가접종 군 모두에서 90.5-100%였다. 폐렴사슬알균 피막다당질 항체가가 $1.0{\mu}g/mL$ 이상인 비율은 추가접종 군에서 94.4-100%로 혈청형 6B와 14를 제외하고는 기초접종 군 보다 높았다(P<0.05). 폐렴사슬알균 피막다당질 항체가가 $5.0{\mu}g/mL$ 이상인 비율은 추가접종 군에서 50.0-94.4%로 모든 혈청형에서 기초접종 군 보다 높았다(P<0.05). 결 론 : 우리나라 소아에서 추가접종 후의 면역원성은 매우 좋았고 기초접종 이후에도 비교적 좋음을 알 수 있었다. 우리나라에 폐렴사슬알균 단백결합 백신의 도입과 접종 횟수를 결정하기 위해서는 전향적인 면역원성 연구가 지속되어야 할 것이라 생각된다.

  • A simple analysis method for inverter-fed induction motor using F.E.M and harmonic equivalent circuit is proposed. And an optimum shape of rotor slot for 2Hp inverter-fed induction motor is determined by combining the proposed analysis method and an optimization algorithm. Conjugate gradient method is used for the optimization algorithm. The optimization is performed for higher efficiency and reduction of harmonic loss in the inverter-fed induction motor. The optimization results are verified by comparing with those of the time-step F.E.A.

한국 12-23개월 소아에서 7가 폐구균 단백결합 백신 추가접종으로 유도된 6B와 19F 혈청형 특이 방어항체의 교차혈청형 6A, 6C, 19A에 대한 교차 반응 (Cross-reaction of 6B and 19F Specific Antibodies to Serotypes 6A, 6C, and 19A after Immunization with 7-valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine in Korean Children Aged 12-23 Months)

  • 목 적 : 폐구균 단백결합 백신의 교차혈청형에 대한 교차방어 능력에 대한 연구는 매우 부족하다. 본 연구는 12-23개월 연령 소아에게 PCV7 추가접종 후 얻어진 면역혈청에서 교차혈청형 6A, 6C, 19A에 대한 교차 항체의 혈청학적 특성을 연구하기 위해 수행하였다. 방 법 : 백신 혈청형 6B, 19F와 교차혈청형 6A, 6C, 19A의 IgG, IgM 항체 농도와 옵소닌 인덱스를 ELISA와 OPA를 통해 측정하였다. 혈청군 6과 19에 대한 방어항체의 혈청학적 특성과 항원 특이도는 면역혈청내 IgM 제거, OPA, cOPA를 통해 확인하였다. 결 과 : 대조군 혈청에 비교하여 IgM 제거 면역혈청의 6B와 19F에 대한 옵소닌 인덱스가 감소하였고, 6A, 6C, 19A에 대한 옵소닌 인덱스도 역시 감소하였다. cOPA에서 6B 다당질, 19F다당질은 백신 혈청형 6B, 19F 뿐 아니라 6A, 6C, 19A의 방어 면역도 완전히 억제하였다. 결 론 : 6B, 19F를 포함한 PCV7은 교차혈청형 6A, 6C, 19A에 대한 IgG 및 IgM 교차방어 항체를 유도하였다. IgM 방어항체는 IgG 항체와 비교하여 백신 혈청형뿐 아니라 백신-연관 혈청형에 대해 더 높은 옵소닌 인덱스를 나타내었다. 향후 더 많은 소아와 성인의 면역 혈청으로 연구가 필요하다.

A Bayes Rule for Determining the Number of Common Factors in Oblique Factor Model

  • Consider the oblique factor model X=Af+$\varepsilon$, with defining relation $\Sigma$$\Phi$Λ'+Ψ. This paper is concerned with suggesting an optimal Bayes criterion for determining the number of factors in the model, i.e. dimension of the vector f. The use of marginal likelihood as a method for calculating posterior probability of each model with given dimension is developed under a generalized conjugate prior. Then based on an appropriate loss function, a Bayes rule is developed by use of the posterior probabilities. It is shown that the approach is straightforward to specify distributionally and to imploement computationally, with output readily adopted for constructing required cirterion.

확률적 근사법과 공액기울기법을 이용한 다층신경망의 효율적인 학습 (An Efficient Traning of Multilayer Neural Newtorks Using Stochastic Approximation and Conjugate Gradient Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 신경망의 학습성능을 개선하기 위해 확룰적 근사법과 공액기울기법에 기초를 둔 새로운 학습방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법에서는 확률적 근사법과 공액기울기법을 조합 사용한 전역 최적화 기법의 역전파 알고리즘을 적용함으로써 학습성능을 최대한 개선할 수 있도록 하였다. 확률적 근사법은 국소최소점을 벗어나 전역최적점에 치우친 근사점을 결정해 주는 기능을 하도록 하며, 이점을 초기값으로 하여 결정론적 기법의 공액기울기법을 적용함으로써 빠른 수렴속도로 전역최적점으로의 수렴확률을 놓였다. 제안된 방법을 패리티 검사와 패턴 분류에 각각 적용하여 그 타당성과 성능을 확인한 결과 제안된 방법은 초기값을 무작위로 설정하는 기울기하강법에 기초를 둔 기존의 역전파 알고리즘이나 확률적 근사법과 기울기하강법에 기초를 둔 역전파 알고리즘에 비해 최적해로의 수렴 확률과 그 수렴속도가 우수함을 확인할 수 있었다.

Cost optimization of reinforced high strength concrete T-sections in flexure

  • This paper reports on the development of a minimum cost design model and its application for obtaining economic designs for reinforced High Strength Concrete (HSC) T-sections in bending under ultimate limit state conditions. Cost objective functions, behavior constraint including material nonlinearities of steel and HSC, conditions on strain compatibility in steel and concrete and geometric design variable constraints are derived and implemented within the Conjugate Gradient optimization algorithm. Particular attention is paid to problem formulation, solution behavior and economic considerations. A typical example problem is considered to illustrate the applicability of the minimum cost design model and solution methodology. Results are confronted to design solutions derived from conventional design office methods to evaluate the performance of the cost model and its sensitivity to a wide range of unit cost ratios of construction materials and various classes of HSC described in Eurocode2. It is shown, among others that optimal solutions achieved using the present approach can lead to substantial savings in the amount of construction materials to be used. In addition, the proposed approach is practically simple, reliable and computationally effective compared to standard design procedures used in current engineering practice.

Metabolism and Excretion Study of DW116, A New Fluoroquinolone, in Rats

  • Metabolite identification and urinary and biliary excretion of the new fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent DW116 [1-(5-fluoro-2-pyridyl)-6-fluoro-7-(4-methyl-1 -piperazinyl)-1, 4-dihydro-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid, hydrochloride] after oral administration have been studied in Sprague-Dawley rats. The excretion kinetics were monoexponential. Most of the drug was eliminated via the hepatic and renal routes. Mean renal clearance of DW116 was 73.4 ml/hr/kg and mean biliary clearance was 83.8 ml/hr/kg. The major metabolite excreted in the bile was identified as the glucuronide ester of the parent drug using base-hydrolysis of the conjugate metabolite followed by co-HPLC with standard compound, $^{19}$ F-NMR and LC-MS methods. The glucuronide conjugate was also found in urine. The mean urinary recoveries of free and total (free plus glucuronide ester) DW116 were $28.6{\pm}2.7% $and $36.4{\pm}1.8%$ of the administered dose and the corresponding biliary recoveries were $14.4{\pm} 5.5%$ and $37.0{\pm}7.6%$, respectively.

  • In the present study, the flow and heat transfer characteristics of a large plate heat exchanger are investigated numerically. The flow passages are very complicated due to the grooved corrugation patterns of the plate surface so that the detailed mesh and the large amount of the computation time have to be required in the numerical simulation for the conjugate heat transfer analysis. In order to accomplish the efficient and fast analysis of the heat transfer characteristics in the plate heat exchanger, a semimicroscopic method using the porous media model has been investigated numerically. The results showed that the characteristics of the heat transfer and pressure drop, which are respectively presented with Colburn j-factor and Fanning f-factor, are in a good agreement between the detailed mesh and the porous media model. The results of the present study could be applicable to the numerical analysis of entire flow passages in the large plate heat exchanger using porous media treatment.

Retinoic Acid-Induced Golgi Apparatus Disruption in F2000 Fibroblasts: A Model for Enhanced Intracellular Retrograde Transport

  • Retinoic acid (RA) can transform the Golgi apparatus (GA) into a diffuse vacuolar aggregate and increase the toxicity of some immunotoxins that enter into cells by receptor-mediated endocytosis. An ultramorphological study of the RA-induced GA disruption was performed on F2000 fibroblasts. Cultures were treated with 0.11 to $30\;{\mu}M$ RA for 7 - 180 min. The endocytosis of Limax flavus agglutinin-peroxidase conjugate (LFA), and the interactions between a phorbol ester (PMA) and RA concerning GA disruption, were examined. Exposure to $0.33\;{\mu}M$ RA for 20 min transformed the GA into vacuolar aggregate. These vacuoles were not involved in endocytosis since they remained unstained after endocytosis of LFA. However, the lysosomes were involved in endocytosis, as they were strongly stained. Therefore, a RA-induced shift towards lysosomal routing of the entered LFA was presumed. Exposure to PMA made cells resistant to the Golgi-disturbing effects of RA, indicating that protein kinase C plays an important role in this process.
